I have a free account with Experian for about 3 or 4 years now. Each time you login it tries to upgrade your account to a paid account. It's hilarious as when I first signed up my credit score was excellent. Then I noticed as I never upgraded it started to drop. Each year since it has gone basically to Very Good. Hilarious as ever other credit agency has me at Excellent. One month it goes UP 16 points, then the next month it DROPS 16 points. Pretty hilarious to see. It changes each month but what ever amount it goes up the next month it goes down. Every other agency I use for Free fluctuates by maybe 1 to 5 points.
It's just a scam as my family members notice the same pattern. It's just trying to get you to start paying each month.
I used to be able to place a fraud alert by providing my Social Security number and other information. Now it tells me to create a free account, but the process is complete unusable garbage. It tells me it will call or text my phone number but doesn't allow me to tell it to call as my landline can't accept texts. When I give it my cell number, it sends me a URL. When I take the time to enter this into my browser, it gives me a worthless error message "something went wrong." All I do is run in circles with it.
Also, when I tried to sign in another way, it told me "We called [my phone number] with a 6-digit verifcation code." but the phone never rang.
Then, when I gave it my cell phone number and said to text a 6 digit code, it texted it to my landline instead which cannot receive text messages.
Then I tried another browser in case there was a problem with cached information, and this time it told me it was texting a code to the cell phone, but it never arrived.
It took me about 2 minutes to create an account with another credit agency which even told me, without my asking, when I needed to renew my fraud alert.
My credit score is getting better and better but Experian reports my ratings going down as I move from one category to a lesser category. When I check it out they want money so I can dig deeper into what I'm sure are false reports. You guys are scaring people just so you can get more business from them. Merica the great.
Got a letter from AT&T saying they leaked out information onto the dark web and offered one year credit monitoring thru Experian. Set up the account yesterday and cannot log into it today and cannot get a hold of a live person. Personally, I wouldn't even give them 1 Star if I could! Nothing but a freaking scam!
Absolutely horrible. Does not deserve even 1 star. Constantly pushing to buy more services and selling credit cards that I don't need. Impossible for 2 people with advanced college degrees to figure out how to put a fraud alert on the account because a 10 digit credit report number is required but not provided. This system itself is fraud.
Their telephone system literally makes it impossible to reach a human being. I've tried getting my annual credit report, and while the other two agencies, Equifax and Trans Union, both work without issue, Experian would not create a report for myself, or my wife or my mother. The only way I would give this company one star is if there's no option to give them zero stars.
There is no way this company actually investigates disputes, at least those submitted online. They wait a couple days then close the dispute with no change to the information. Meanwhile, both Equifax and TransUnion deleted the information I disputed. The only option would be to sue them, but of course they know we can't afford to do that so they can get away with such a poor business practice.
Autocar use this platform for information. Experian as usual has got it wrong, classified my car as a N. Where they get that rubbish from is a mystery. Maybe some idiot in South Africa who is paid peanut money, no education either. Experian are not a trustworthy bunch, they could not tell the truth if it hit them in the face. Yobs or junkies is the UK rating for Exoeriam
%90 of updates you receive from the Experian app are just fake. They just want you to log-in and eventually buy their services. After you get fooled and buy their subscription, they have nothing useful for you. Even the reported credit score is off. Each login takes three minutes on my phone. I think they wrote their whole system in Python. It is probably the slowest website I have ever seen in my life.
Experian is a complete waste of your time stay far away from this company and their services. This company is only interested in taking your money to pay off terrible smokes people such as Travis, Mr. Pfizer himself that's all I need to see you to know this company is pure garbage
Answer: It's difficult. After I discovered the theft of my identity on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving, I wasn't able to report it to Experian until Monday morning, 5 days later, because they only let you report it by phone, and their call center is closed nights, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, their phone system is awful to navigate.
Answer: There are but no experience with alternative companies
