Just like any other selling/trading website, you might encounter some bad weeds but from my personal experience I have yet been ripped off or had any unpleasant encounters with other users. Its environmentally friendly, fun, and (almost) free.you can't beat it. Highly recommended.
I've only been a member for about a month, but thus far I am delighted with the service and the extensive collections available for the devoted movie buff. Before now I had shelves full of dvds which I had no hope of trading or selling, as the secondary sales market is so poor. But now I have traded over 40 films and have received about 15 so far, with many more listed as "Wish List" items that I will receive when those ahead of me in the cue have been fulfilled. Altogether a great find!
I previously had great experience with Swap a DVD. My only problem is I forgot my password and could not get into my account. What I like, is I can access the features to move credits between paperbackswap and swapadvd accounts. Took a while but they got me fixed up. Hopefully the old war movies my husband wanted will arrive and make him happy. I got a couple for myself too.
I send out a bible audio with 8 audio dvds and I got only 2 credits. I emailed the founder of the site and asked a simply question as why did i get only 2 credits for sending out 80 dvds the next time i logged in they said i couldnt login there was a problem with my account. Why is that most all the dvds and books i mailed out was new and i send them out the same or next day
I mailed out a brand new expensive Blu-Ray/DVD set which they claim was "lost in the mail" and they refuse to give me credits for it! I even sent them a receipt as proof that I mailed the package. They are rip off and will not give credits as promised! Do not trust this company! Now I gave away this brand new Blu-Ray and received nothing for it!
They feel free to take any credits you've accumulated and are arrogant, uncaring and unprofessional if you try to communicate with them. They want you to refer people to their site, but if you refer a lot of people (as I did), they will flag your account and steal your credits. They don't take responsibility and don't care if you've been a long standing good member. If you have any credits with this site or their sister sites SwapaCD or PaperbackSwap, you should use your credits as soon as possible, while you still have them, and get out before they rob you!
I ordered sets never got them and swap froze my account took my money and my credits and froze them. Said they have the right its in the fine print you agree to and they give you nothing. Half the dvds i got were damaged still worked but damaged and now im out 24 credits and over 100.00 that i paid in shipping cost. Bad site no help to the customer total rip off
I joined a long time ago and have personally mailed out over 1400 dvds and recieved over 1200. I have almost never had a problem and any issues I have encountered have been quickly resolved. I disagree with every bad review on here. I have received a bunch of new releases and been on the wait list for others. I find the members to be honest and appreciative... respectfully. The club works because we make it work.
I do not think anyone giving a chance and being honest and realistic could possibly have a negative thing to say!
SwapaDVD is an engaging site for people who love movies and like to trade. They have good protections against pirated copies, a very complete list of movies to add to one's wishlist, easy listing of DVDs to trade, mailing label printing, and social interaction functions. My main beef with them is that if you want something a little unusual, you might have to wait a long, long time or may never get it. Criterion DVDs rarely if ever come up for trade, naturally. Nonetheless, though I had to wait almost a year, I did get Zeffirelli's "Romeo & Juliet," and really all you have to do is list it and forget it. They send e-mails when the DVD is available. They have a book-trade and CD-trade site, but I haven't used them.
I love this site... ive been on it for almost a year and have never had a problem... in fact today I just got 12 years a slave for free... and that movie has only been out a few weeks... I was number one of 102 people on the waiting list... I have never had any dvd I mailed out get lost in the mail... I have received box sets and sent out box sets... I got rid of a lot of movies that I couldn't have gotten much for on ebay... great site and its not a scam
