Hey Guys!
WARNING: LEAVE HEX
Hex is a Harry Potter game, but it's not fun. The staff are mean and unfair. They ban players without explaining why. The rules are not fair. Some players get away with breaking rules, while others get punished. The staff don't listen to players. They ignore messages and don't help. Hex is not a good place to play. The staff are toxic and mean. I've been over here since September and its extremely bad. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/hexrpg.com Read the reviews of the website over here, {its safe}} 👍I've been on this website since like September 2024 and lemme tell you its pathetic.
Reasons of hex being toxic:
1. Its good, addictive and alluring but has got disadvantages...
2. The online platform has several issues that need to be addressed. The staff members, particularly Ry420, John, KatieNumbers, and Motherof3, have been accused of being biased and unfair in their decision-making. They have been known to target users who disagree with them, enforce non-existent rules, and fail to respond to users' questions and concerns. This has created a toxic environment where users feel intimidated and hesitant to speak up.
Furthermore, the platform's policy of banning users for having multiple accounts from the same IP address has been overly restrictive and unfair. Many users, including families and households with shared internet connections, have been unfairly banned, me being one. The lack of transparency and accountability has also led to a culture of fear and intimidation, where users are hesitant to express their opinions or ask questions
A good friend of mine was recently banned from hex for "multiple accounts", even though they never had multiple accounts. Their family members had the accounts and hex staff KNEW THIS, wouldn't allow my friend to show them proof that they weren't using their family's accounts even tho they kept demanding proof. Staff love screwing people over when they can't get their way, there's way more to this, too much to type.
Fun things to do and lots of great friendships to be had. Be very careful not to upset the 'staff clique' and their friends. The moment you do, you will be targeted. You will start to receive 'warning owls' for breaking non-existent rules. When you point out that there is no rule at all for the supposed infraction, you only just get warned not to do it again. What? Basically, here's a fun game with a full list of rules, but be careful not to break one of the non-existent ones that will be made up as you go along if you make us mad. All in all, great site, horrible staff/moderators.
My sister was banned and all the items I gave her were deleted for a false report of multiple accounts. She was so polite to the staff in explaining her situation too, but nope! F*ck them.
Starting from Ry420, John, KatieNumbers, and Motherof3 they have made this site trash. Not only do they not respond to you (unless your their friend) they are biased in decisions and if they don't like you they will use any excuse to discipline you or strip every position you worded hard for. Just because they can. No staff owls you back when you have a question, but you owl a different staff and get into trouble. This is one of the most toxic and clicky sites that I have come across.
I've been on a lot of HP fan sites, but this one is the best. You can spend galleons and participate in the economy, take classes, and participate in events! I definitely recommend a join. :D
The admins and staff were rude and inconsiderate to users for canceling the St. Patrick's event, because some people complained about it and cancelled it without prior noticed, also for allowing users to attack others for their opinions, while allowing some users to discriminate against irish americans who just wanted to voice their opinions and acting like they are at fault for perpetuating stereotypes on a event that was created by staff who are most likely not of irish descendent.
I guess it just isn't my cup of tea. There's nothing remotely interesting happening on site, yes, there are events that give you prizes or what not but it feels more like an assignment than anything.
Overall, the site is very simplistic in design, the forums are rather dull, activity wise; there aren't many active members as of current as there are no site wide events being held. Known for its roleplaying aspect --> roleplays seem very dead to me --> same stories being repeated, users are bored of the same plot.
Very hard to earn galleons (site currency = equivalent to money) as a new user. What I mean by it being hard to earn money is that sure you are able to "earn enough per say" to purchase the starter items required for the game, but takes a while to build up fortune to purchase the higher tier items as everything is so inflated --> game gets boring after a while.
Overall some of the people seem nice, willing to help a new user, but staff and moderators classify a new user asking for some help/items/galleons as BEGGING --> they send out warning letters to new users about this --> gives a very negative impression and so users are not likely to come back to play.
There are clubs, joined a few clubs. Most members are not active, most clubs are dead, there are no initiatives. The site basically restricts the versatility of how clubs are able to accomodate user interests.
Anyways, I would say my experience was okay, it wasn't "magical" per say. Just really boring, I lost interest very quickly.
I have been a member on HEXRPG for 4 years and I have always followed rules and suff. I was even a HEX mentor and enjoyed years of prizes and events.
And honestly, HEX can be so stressful, they think you have no life outside of the website and that you can just respond to owls and posts as soon as it is sent. Apparently, the admins and moderators really do think I have no life outside HEX and started sending me owls for 'neglecting' my position. I have always brought up how busy my life has been yet they ignore that and act like professionals.
From my experience as a HEX mentor, most of the Welcome Owls that I send they don't respond or read. Plus most new users don't even log back on to their account after they visit the site.
And yeah if they're met with a black background with nothing appealing on it, then of course they are going to loose bloody interest. TBH when I first got on HEX, I was like what? How, what, where?
Yeah. So I am honestly so sick of this, moderators are normal people that get onto the site. They do their own thing and don't check up on much. They call you out for small things like posting a one word post, but hey, there a way more important issues out there. Like the racism out there and ignorant comments.
Honestly, get your head out of the fracking toilet and address those concerns, don't be freaking petty and think you're 'doing your job'.
Also, lay it off. So what, if I answer my owl two hours later, I am on the other side of the world. If you want everyone to be safe and healthy, then maybe let them sleep for a few hours.
I am honestly so disgusted with the way these moderators handle their power, is it because the person wrote a paragraph of bull? Is that how you choose someone?
Well, if it is, then this site is messed up.
~ From a very concerned human.
The mods are the worst in this Site plus too many freaking rules.By mistake you break one rule and you are gone. You can not even given a chance to explain yourself and I am not talking about multiple accounts issue.
Then there are mods who are underage and egoistical and then there is one who is overage and still act like child.
Then there is bullying.the one who bully will be given a free hand and the one who gets bullied will get warning and gets lectured.
The staff is in this site are skewed and will always favour certain people and then comes the lottery and the gambling and I am pretty sure they are rugged to the core.Always seeing same people winning.
It's a RP site. Some rules needs to be gone. And by the way there is no privacy at all.
And this is coming from someone who loves HEX and was in hex for 11 years before my account was disabled recently
The email clearly stated that no one in my house, nor my family or friends were ever allowed to play on the site. I was permanently banned after asking many times to get my ONE account back. All because I made multiple accounts. Too strict for a gaming site. Everyone makes multiple accounts.
Its almost impossible not to fall victim of all the various scams out there and its really thoughtful that initiatives about scam companies like this are set up to rescue people from these crooks. In addition, I would also recommend a licensed fraud company GraVcapital, who had helped me out in recovering my funds sometimes last year, they were able to make use of adequate proofs that i provided to enforce this recovery and I was able to get back my loss.
Played on the site for many years. It's rated strictly at pg-13 so all ages can play on it. Kids as young as 6 have been known to play on hex and enjoy it. There is a lot to do on the game. You can attend classes, shop in Diagon Ally and Hogsmead. Hex staff has also been known to add real life information to their classes so people don't get too bored. There is even Quidditch games you can join in or be a spectator. On top of that there are events the staff puts on various times of the year for the holidays to make thing's interesting. The only down side I can see is that they are pretty strict with certain rules. No second accounts, no cheating. They have a very childish thought that if you are using the same internet connection...You MUST be the same person! They do kick people off simply for being on the same server (vpn anyone?)...They do have ways to find out if someone cheated or if it was a website error. If you are caught you are giving a few warnings, then you are suspended for a while. They also don't delete accounts so once you make one, even if you leave for a few months you can still come back to it. Hex has been around for 20 years and still played by hundred of people.
This is a fun site, with lots of other people and activities. There's something for every type of HP fan! The only issue is that sometimes there's not really much there to do, very occasionally.
I woke up one morning to find hundreds of REs in my account. I was shocked, and thought perhaps it was a glitch or something, but started trying to get rid of them. This morning I woke up to found my account suspended this morning for abusing REs, and now I'm completely confused. Did someone scam me?
If you and other HP fans share the same isp address then you are accused of having multiple accounts. This used to be a fun place now its just meh, you can't even complain about anything without them azkabanning you, especially if it is against staff etc. Nice site if you are the only user for your isp but for others not so much.
They love it when you donate but you break a rule and its like DAMNATION. I spent hundreds of dollars on this site donating to them for over a year and my account got banned because my niece made an account using my ip and using my device and they said it was me and I was making multiple accounts. REDICULOUS. Oh and IF I don't make any more accounts they will RECONSIDER unbanning me after 6 months.
I joined HEX and maybe my account is going on two months now. I made a few friends but for the most part the sites been around long enough that most people have there groups now and it's hard to get accepted in to them. I made a few casual friends and one I ended up adding outside of HEX because we had other similar games in common. She's had a really bad experience with HEX admins and decided she wanted to quit and remove her account and move on so she gave me items, now this wasn't the first time her or others have given me free items and g's on the website. But they flagged it this time it seems and said that her and I were clearly the same person, and put my account on a temp two day ban, but not hers. And then tonight they've expelled and disabled my account and I've have no way to communicate to them at all about this since, I've been having my friend send what I say to them on my behalf and sent an email to one of there accounts with no reply. Now, I donated $90 to this weeksite to get virtual items. Everyone does it so whatever and now unless they refund me or I dispute it to my credit card company I'm out $90. Talk about staff abusing there roles and not even letting users defend themselves over an account on a website. This really is stupid. BEWARE! I can say the site is fun but I felt really lonely a lot still so was glad to have met a few nice people at least.
I recently pulled my daughter from this site after she told me it was leaked that a well known predator had been hired to a site moderator position. That particular person is gone now, but reading through some past reviews here about the kinds of people they allow and the bigoted views they espouse has horrified me, and I won't be allowing my daughter to return or other kids to join—and I'll be sure to warn my friends not to allow their Harry Potter-loving kids to join either. Just despicable and nauseating. Not worth the few good parts.
Reviews on multiple accounts: Me and my sister share a laptop and we where sent a form to fill out to share the reason for two accounts on same laptop. Didn't have a problem with it again.
Reviews on staff: I believe that not all the staff are bad, though I can't say that all are good. I don't have much experience with them so if I'm wrong correct me. BUT only if you're telling the truth.
Reviews on drama or overall bad people: I do think that since HEX is for all ages it might be an easy place for trolling to occur.
Reviews on staff constantly being on you for doing something wrong: They're trying to keep the place safe, remember that all ages thing? Either that or they noticed someone didn't follow the rule and pointed it out so it didn't happen again
My experience with hex: Has been good! Though I have mostly stayed in the shadows. The shops are fun and the items are too! I think the economy system is great and I've had strangers make my day. I personally have seen 0 drama but on the other hand I don't really pay attention to things that are not my business.
So I guess what I'm saying if you stay kinda in the back it's a great site! I don't know if the other reviews are true, I've tried to clear that up though. I'm sure it's also a great site if I didn't have that much social anxiety and actually talked to people.
Answer: From what I've seen in the negative reviews, most of these have broken the rules and were upset when they were punished accordingly. HEX does not allow multiple accounts, which is clearly stated in the rules. The idea that they automatically ban you with no warning or chance to explain yourself is completely false, as is the idea that other people aren't allow to have accounts in your household. I've been on the site for years and even recently became a moderator. All of these negative reviews talking about how terrible the staff is? Not allowed. Seriously, if any of us tried any of that stuff, we'd get in trouble faster than you could click report. Most of the negative reviews are simply from users who broke the rules and didn't like getting punished for it, along with the one or two reviewers who seemed to miss that HEX is PG-13. As someone whose been on the site for four years, let me assure you that they have given a completely off-base account of the site.
Answer: I have Aspergers and when I explained this to staff members who have attacked me over things I've said which they misinterpreted, and tried to explain what I really meant, I was basically told "tough luck" because what they say goes and their personal interpretation of what you say is the only meaning they will accept. It's happened to a few other Autistic Hexians as well from what I've heard. So, in all honesty? Avoid the bigger global mods and staff members/admins where you can because otherwise you might regret it if one of them reads you wrong and doesn't care to ask you for clarification. It's not worth the trouble. 95% of the regular users are very nice and understanding about the Autism spectrum though so don't shy away from talking about it if you need to.
Answer: If the negative reviews are all around the same time, and all have similar spelling/grammatical issues, they're from the same butt-hurt people who got banned for rule-breaking and are now salty.
Answer: I believe it is. I am a current member of the site and have found many wonderful friends and it has become a place for me to log into after a long day at school or work and not have to worry about the drama of everyday life. Granted, nothing is 100% perfect, as just like humans, the site still has some kinks that occur and you will find there to be some negative people who feed off of drama and misery. It is a matter of just being yourself and deciding which environment and experience you wish to have. The rules may seem silly or ridiculous, but some are in place due to COPPA or just keeping the users safe along with general online etiquette. So yes, it is worth it.
Answer: Yes, the site is free. There are options to pay in to get perks (items mostly), but they are in no way required.
Answer: Best way is the stock market because over time you receive dividends.
