This is a great website to help relearn how to live without cigarettes. If someone really wants to quit smoking it is a great resource to, at least, get started understanding why and when a person smokes and how to recognize these situations and subsequently learn how to change behavior.
I'm not sure how many people it has helped but given the lack of live community support for nicotine addiction, it is a great place to start.

You are correct, anyone can register for free on BecomeAnEX.org. We are proud to have helped more than 900,000 users on their quit smoking journey since 2008.
You are also correct that we use cookies; this is to ensure users have the best experience on the site.
It is not correct that the site has no security. We use SSL to protect any information users submit.
Members are responsible for the information they make publicly available in the EX Community and that they share publicly in their profile.
It entirely up to each individual user how they choose to track their quitting journey; some members reset their quit dates on the site if they resume smoking, some members do not.
