Ken talks a great story till he gets your money and then the real lawyer comes out. He does nothing to get you justice he only wants to do suit his way not caring about client. Everything that you say potato head refuses to do anything but what he wants to do. Kens as bad as they get complete Dud..
I've had plenty of problems with them before where I could submit the exact same review over and over again and eventually it gets approved once it hits a reasonable approver. Today, I was told that I accused an attorney of illegal or an ethical conduct without providing any details.
Please look at the provided submission and tell me how I didn't provide details. I did; their reasoning is bogus.
"Title - Walked into unnecessary services
These guys were clearly looking for an opportunity to make money off of us. My ex husband was apparently walked into an unnecessary mediation when for some unknown reason he called to get advice for an uncontested divorce. So, it was much to my surprise when they contacted me to schedule a mediation and then several weeks later asked for $300 for me. When I wrote them saying I never asked for this and I wasn't paying them anything, I received a snarky imprudent response, which was my typical experience whenever there was conflict when I lived in Kendallville, from the owner essentially indicating I wasted his time."
I paid for online marketing through Avvo - it was longer term contract (which should have been a warning sign). After experiencing what seemed to be basically no new traffic, I contacted them about it. I thought they might be able to help by adjusting an algorithm of helping me get our Avvo profile set up better. I didn't get much from them aside from excuses about how we are in a specialized area. I ended up paying a large fee to cancel the contract and received no concessions (or even sincere concern) from Avvo. Terrible business decision - I definitely regret it. Would strongly recommend finding other ways to advertise.
My lawyer from avvo was inexperienced and unethical. Avvo approved my review on her in 2021, then took it down in 2023 claiming I was not detailed enough. I was very detailed about what I experienced. The lady did not know law. Avvo refuses to protect future victims of this woman by not allowing people to see what she has done.
I called a highly recommended lawyer from Avvo's review area. He was rude, abrupt, and didn't listen. He told me his cases were mainly slip and fall stuff and car accidents. His Avvo reviews painted him as a courtroom warrior who performs miracles with tough criminal cases, lol.
He was exactly the opposite of how the reviews described him! I had a feeling that his reviews were bought and paid for.
Every review site has him as a five star guy...not possible in the real world. Avvo is supported by lawyers and the reviews are unverified. Approach with extreme caution.
I hired David King in 2015. We paid him $500 and never heard from him again. All his numbers are disconnected and his email address is no longer active. I posted the first negative review on AVVO in 2019. It was denied. I posted another in 2023, it was also denied. I only stated the facts as stated here. We were suing our homeowners insurance for bad faith. We never were able to get the resolution. We tried to warn others who may come in contact about out issues.
I'm an attorney and was suckered into advertising/marketing with Avvo. To date, I have received exactly zero leads or return on the investment. I have contacted multiple people with Avvo including but not limited to my account rep and have received nothing but silence. You might as well flush your money down the toilet because it will be less frustrating and equally as profitable as advertising or marketing with Avvo / Nolo / Martindale.
I had a terrible experience with a completely disrespectful and rude "attorney". I submitted an appropriate review but it was rejected. Stated it violated their guidelines, but offered no details. I read their guidelines and found no violation. I resubmitted a negative review to reflect the experience but it was rejected again. This happened 4 more times. I then see many others also stating that the site deletes the negative reviews and I wanted to express that the same happened to me. Very disappointing site to say the least, about on par with the level of attorneys on it. I do not recommend to anyone looking for good service.
Avvo used to be a great directory. In the past few years, it has dropped off in the search results. There are multiple reps reaching out sporadically with no consistency so if you have a firm with several attorneys, there is no coordination and each attorney gets harassed by different reps. The last rep I had canceled meeting after meeting so I finally had to ask his manager for a new rep so we could get our spend down. Very frustrating.
I used this service for marketing our law firm. Words can't express how disappointed I was in the "results", which were, in my opinion, negligible at best. I wish I would have avoided the site altogether.
Answer: AVVO is managed by attorneys for attorneys. It is a recipe for deception, self-interest and greed.
Answer: I believe it's a scam. There is no correlation between how good an attny is and their avvo rating. Based upon my personal knowledge of several attorneys that i have become very familiar with since unwittingly believing avvo information i would warn people not to trust this site for an impartial assessment of attorneys.
Answer: What is being asserted about rejection of negative reviews is absolutely consistent with my experience. Don't waste your time.
Answer: You actually can't place bad review or rating for attorney anywhere, including Martindale Hubbell or similar websites. Even if bad review is approved and posted, it will be removed by attorney request in a few days.
Answer: Because AVVO is a scam service that inflates attorney ratings, but systematically blocks negative reviews. Avoid at all costs.
Answer: It's BAD! Don't trust AVVO! A lot of attys put 5 STAR reviews about themselves and will have the 1 star reviews removed. BEWARE of your atty if s/ he has a 6.5 or has a lot of 5 STAR reviews and still not a high score
Answer: I am an attorney and had contact with this company years ago when it posted my "profile" without my consent, apparently scraping it from some legitimate source like the state bar website. I was assigned a low rating (6.5/10) based on no reviews whatsoever and encouraged to join and get recommendations from other attorneys on the site to raise my rating. I'm a 20+-year practitioner with no complaints from clients or the bar. Quite simply, it's a scam along the lines of "America's Who's Who" where the people listed in the database are the source of income for the enterprise. If attorneys don't "join" and pay they're added to the database without their consent and assigned a random low rating pulled out of nowhere. I don't see any basis to rely on "Avvo" for attorney recommendations. Try Martindale-Hubbell or recommendations from the local bar association real-life attorneys.
Avvo has a rating of 1.2 stars from 421 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Avvo most frequently mention law firm, state bar and community guidelines. Avvo ranks 73rd among Legal Documents sites.
