Trivago is wasting their money with an awful ad campaign in the US. I reached out to the Marketing Department, and have not received a reply.
I travel quite a bit and use a few different platforms, apps and tools. I advise others on travel and am often asked what tools I use for booking travel. I am well within the target audience for Trivago.
Based on their awful ad, I would never use them.
They advertise a price and clearly state that the reservation is cancelable. Click on link, enter CC info, get a confirmation that reservation is non refundable. They hide behind the booking company and they're not responsible for the change in terms. Complete BS of a business model. There's a reason that they've been fined by governments for fraud. Only by stopping using them, will they go away for good.
I used Trivago to stay at a Days Inn in Ontario Canada. I booked for 2 nights then decided to stay an extra night. I paid the motel directly for the extra night. When I checked my credit card statement I found there was no difference in price. Which begs the question, why not just book directly with the motel/hotel yourself?
They would not refund or change the dates of my hotel stay. They don't really mean cancel the reservation 24 hours before. I will never use trivago again. I will call the Hotel and make my reservation.
Price is different when you are going to book. What is the use of a comparing site when prices are not correct shown on Trivago. It's not the booking site. Prices on Booking and Agora are mostly 2 or 3 times the price shown on Trivago when you click on the Trivago price.
I was led to believe I was booking directly through the hotel and it was not labeled Trivago.after calling and making reservation my message from them said Trivago. My daughter to.d me she got a much lower rate going directly through the hotel.I told her I was duped because it looked like I was going directly through the hotel.I also said I may want to cancel at the ti e and they said I could but added an additional 7 dollars to my reservation.I canceled and when I called to cancel they said they were adding another additional fee.what a deceptive and horrible business.Yoy get a higher rate and they rip people off.Do not use them.
I need my refund back my booking was booked the wrong date call and spoke to someone after two days of getting someone to finally answer said I had to wait 24 which it has been no one answered and still waiting on a refund which I haven't received and they took my money I need my money back don't have money to give away!
Found a bed bug right as I was going to bed. Notified the manager who then called the owner. The owner showed no instantly became rude n condescending. Flat out blamed us for bringing them in. No plan to remedy the problem. We requested our refund n left. Inspect thoroughly the beds! Think twice before considering staying here. Magnify that picture!
Booked a room with Days Inn Wyndham Effingham Illinois. The event we were going to attend ( FUNFEST) canceled all but one day for event. We called and canceled our hotel reservations for September 14th through 18th of 2022 on May 10th 2022. We have just given that money to someone because we cannot get a refund. We should have called and booked directly, ended up costing us much more than we would have saved going through this company. Very dishonest! Lesson learned!
I booked three hotels via Trivago during the last two months. No complains! Fast and easy to book, best prices available and a top notch user surface. From my experience: Best hotel comparison website!
Answer: The bottom line is good luck with that. Nobody cares and they may email you back but nothing will happen and i guarantee if you gave someone money for a service it is gone forever. There are so many rip off sites related to Trivago it is unreal.
Answer: Dear Michelle, Thank you for your message and I would be happy to help. Depending on the booking site you choose to make your reservation with (ex. Expedia, booking.com, Agoda etc.) you may be required to prepay for the booking in full, an authorization (hold) on your credit card may be placed, or you may have to simply pay upon check out at the hotel. I would suggest reading the policy of the particular booking site you use, to see how their payment process works. As trivago is a hotel meta-search, meaning users can search and compare different hotels and prices on our site, we pull information from multiple OTAs (online travel agencies such as Expedia or Booking.com) and display the prices together. However, once a user clicks through to book a room, they are directed to the appropriate booking site which provides that price to complete reservation and payment details. Trivago doesn't actually have any involvement in the making of the booking. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Kind regards, James Morrison Trivago user support.
