I had an extremely disappointing experience with WeddingWire/The Knot (The Wedding Pro). Their customer support was unhelpful, and their business practices felt deceptive and rigid, ultimately harming my small business rather than supporting it.
I invested over $8,000 in an annual contract, expecting a worthwhile return based on their promises of increased bookings. However, I secured only one elopement and two weddings—far from enough to offset the cost, leaving me with virtually no profit after advertising expenses. The platform offers no clear way to evaluate ROI, and their system locks you in without flexibility.
Adjusting or canceling your contract is a nightmare. You can't do it independently online—you're forced to speak with an account specialist, whose primary goal seems to be retention rather than resolution. Worse, changes or cancellations must be requested more than five days before the billing cycle, a detail buried in fine print. In my case, I emailed just before this deadline to adjust my plan, only to endure a 40-minute retention call where I was told cancellation wasn't possible due to timing. They offered to adjust my plan with supervisor approval, but what followed was a bait-and-switch.
I received a new contract labeled as their "bottom tier" for another full year, despite our phone discussion about switching to month-to-month billing. I immediately flagged the discrepancy via email, noting the contract didn't reflect our agreement. My specialist didn't respond until after the weekend, by which time I'd been charged $689 for the incorrect plan. Monday's follow-up call revealed more confusion: another representative claimed the year-long contract was month-to-month, a contradiction that wasn't clarified to me prior. I refused to sign due to this lack of transparency, but they insisted I'd been "informed" via the contract terms.
The customer service team showed zero empathy, treating me like a number rather than a struggling small business owner. Their inflexible policies and lack of accountability left me feeling taken advantage of. My business suffered financially from this partnership, while they profited at my expense. The Wedding Pro dominates the market, but their practices prioritize their bottom line over the vendors they claim to support. I strongly caution other photographers against investing here—look elsewhere for promotion that actually benefits your business.
Dont enroll, you will regret it.
You pay for fake leads, if youve been in the industry awhile you will begin to see the pattern.
I sent an expensive gift that should have had a note, arrived without any indication of the sender. I took the time to type out a message to the bride but she never received the note that was supposed to be included with the gift. 4 weeks after the shower I finally asked the MOB if my gift was received, the bride had no idea who sent the present therefor unable to acknowledge receipt. Unacceptable.
I posted a review with pictures and videos of the disgusting environment that the food trucks had.
I posted a conversation thread of my boss saying to serve food to people when the trucks were destroyed had living maggots out of his food everywhere for over a week.
He ignored my concerns about people's health and safety.
I put the videos online left reviews and now he's talking to these local base companies to pull down my reviews to save his disgusting business.
Street lights LLC still stick gratuity payments for every invoice for themselves.
None of it goes to his staff at all ever. None of the payments go towards making the trucks roadworthy and safe for the employees. His staff has to steal kitchen equipment from hospitals and schools because he will not buy what they need.
They have commonly been out of dish soap for days on end rubber gloves cleaning towels.
Take your money and never hear from them again. There attitude changes once they know that you gave into the rubbish they try to sell you. Paid them whatever they wanted. After 2 weeks still didn't have anything. I am a reasonable vendor and know that not everyone will always want to book us... BUT I also know that we are good and no way not 1 even called us.
If you are a vendor who is just starting out, or cannot fully commit to it as a job, do not join this site. Unfortunately the site does not help you connect well if you do not have enough to show for it and look like the more established vendors. This site's salepeople will try to make you feel like they will help get you as many hits as possible, but once you're signed up, you're abandoned. I tried to join to make side money as a DJ, and I was assured I would make back my deposit in no time. That hasn't happened. When I tried to explain that I needed to get out of my subscription agreement because I was facing financial hardship, they didn't care. Absolutely do not join this site if you can't appear like a fully legit service.
Please don't waist your time with this company, if you are trying to do business with them. They lock you in for one year, you don't see your money back ever! It's a bunch of brides sending request to a bunch of different business owners. It's rare you will get hired. Market your business somewhere else that's worth it.
Wish I could give them a zero!
Worse platform.
I sogned up for the knot in total ignorance as a small business florist hoping to get clients from the knot. What a huge waste of money! Some florists pay ten times what I pay for top listings yet my minimum priced ad page was often on top! Yet all I got was spam email from online marketers pretending to be brides to get your email. The staff is rude and their social media is a disaster! All of the posts are generic recycled posts from other boring wedding pages or these imbalanced negative home made cartoons from someone that is obviously not well. I have never seen one original or positive post to bring anyone in the own community of subscribed paying vendors together, 3 more months and I can cancel finally! Cannot wait!
Do not do it! Absolutely the worst company to deal with. I have been trying to cancel my subscription and have called 5 times and left a message and have emailed at least 5 with no response. Waste of money and time
I tried to book a hotel for a wedding in Orlando using theknot.com. The venue was full so I was going to hang up and book somewhere else. The agent at theknot said she was able to book my second choice for me at The Doubletree, so I let her. Three months out, I tried to cancel as my plans changed. They told me if I cancelled I would still be responsible for one night room rental (several hundred dollars) I thought I was calling the hotel directly, but it was actually theknot I was talking to. We begrudgingly made the plans work, however I mentioned it when checking in at the Doubletree and they said I would have been able to cancel my room through them - it was the "third party" that wouldn't let me cancel. I think that is terrible! The rep never gave me that information. I'll never make that mistake again.
Answer: My honest opinion... do not use theknot.com for your wedding. It crashes often and can be extremely frustrating. Believe me... I used it and was locked into using it because it was on all of my invitations. My best advice: use weddingwire.com. But, if you're not going to listen to my advice or are locked in and stuck as I was, go to your wedding website (not in preview mode) and click on guest list from the dashboard... well... After 9 attempts, TK will not load properly so that I can step you through it (everything else on my computer works great). Sorry, that's all I have for you. I hate theknot.com!
Answer: Tell them the same thing they say to you when you contact them for help in any way! "I don't think it is in our best interest! You are on your own... Good luck with that!"
The Knot has a rating of 1.7 stars from 390 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with The Knot most frequently mention customer service, credit card and wedding wire. The Knot ranks 79th among Wedding Planning sites.
