I signed up for a free trial and never used the website. Without any acknowledgement or warning that an upcoming charge was coming, they charged me the full annual cost (almost $200) around Christmas time. I attempted to request a refund, since I was not warned, but they were very unwilling to assist in any way. They would not offer me any type of acceptable solution and informed me that they will not give a refund.
I purchased a one-year Skillshare membership for my daughter on Christmas 2023, intending to support her love for art. Unfortunately, the membership automatically renewed this year, and I realized I no longer wanted to continue the subscription. Expecting a trusted company to handle this professionally, I reached out to customer service within 24 hours of the renewal, confident that an unused product would warrant a refund.
Other companies I've dealt with—like Hulu—have refunded unused annual subscriptions promptly under similar circumstances. However, despite my immediate request and explaining my financial situation, Skillshare declined to issue a refund. The responses from their representatives were impersonal reiterations of their refund policy, claiming they had sent a reminder email 30 days prior, which I never received. The only email I have is from the day of the renewal itself.
Ultimately, Skillshare's lack of flexibility and empathy left me feeling deeply let down by a company I once trusted. I cannot recommend their service to anyone seeking to nurture their passions, and I'll be resolving this issue through my bank. Skillshare has lost my trust and future support.
Garbage company with garbage policies. Beware the trials are made to lock you in so you forget and start running up fee charges. They will not reimburse you even if you don't use the platform. They will use a bunch of bots to give empty unempathetic replies, so they can just take your money once you made the mistake of signing up and not have to deal with you.
The course choices are limited snd do not offer as many useful topics and most of the info is something you can find for free on YouTube.
Do not waste your time and money!
Do not sign up for classes from Skillshare. There is no such thing as a free trial. You will be charged the annual fee with no ability to cancel.
It is said that within the 7 day free trial, one would be able to cancel by going onto ones account page and cancel there. That does not exist. Ones next step is to write them an email, to which I have 4-5 times already. They will respond initially, but as the email stream continues, one starts to receive emails stating that they are still waiting for a reply, even though you've sent them many. If you look at previous reviews, you'll see that others experienced or are experiencing this now.
Better business berceau or other agencies should look into their fraudulent and purposefully confusing practices with regards to payments.
I will be looking to report them, I urge others to do the same
I would give less than one star if I could. My experience aligns with that of other commenters. I got caught up in a free trial, but my credit card was charged a day earlier than anticipated, and I couldn't cancel in advance. Customer support was unreachable, three months later, I'm still in ongoing communication with Skillshare, attempting to explain my situation to them. Their response remains consistent: I'm now outside the cancellation window, according to them. I'm genuinely perplexed as to why the company is unwilling to initiate a refund when the error originated from their end by charging me a day before. Is it reasonable for the company to have the flexibility to act as they see fit while I'm expected to adhere strictly to their policies? You will not find a button to cancel, you have to contact them on time, so leave plenty of time to cancel your free trial in advance because it is a hassle.
Withdrew from my account $167 on the day I signed up for a free trial. They don't care that I need that money just to get groceries. I'm not the only one who had this happen... just look at the BBB complaints.
After using Skillshare for several years under a monthly plan, they booted me out of the plan without any notice. Then, every time I logged in, I was pointed to a screen where I had no choice but to subscribe to a costly annual plan. When I contacted customer service they were incredibly unhelpful and pretended like I just suddenly wasn't a subscriber anymore and that there was no wrong on their end. I imagine that Skillshare must suddenly want to convert their earlier monthly members who were paying $9.99 a month to yearly members and this was a sneaky, incredibly unprofessional way to go about it. I can't imagine how many members they have upset with this bizarre move.
They are big time scammers. They would close a teacher's account few days before the payout with no valid reason. I'm a teacher and they scammed me with more than $6,000. Don't teach or support this platform in any way. All teachers who got blocked got the same kind of email a few days before payout.
I'm trying to change my payment method for a month! Support is terribly slow (on the photo you can see my chat on e-mail, which is actually only a continuation of it, I'd deleted the initial chat). It has a looot of useful classes of different directions and topics. But support and site performance are low.
They have no phone # to contact. They would not refund me on the day I was charged. So they charged me for a whole year and would not reimburse any of it. The one or 2 videos I viewed were poor quality. The only phone number I found was nothing but a VM that tells you to go online.
