My husband always did our taxes and I just always signed my name. He passed away in April 2024 so I had to learn to do them. This being my first year, I contacted an accountant. She needed last years return and I had no hard copies or even access to the cite my husband used so I started crying. How am I going to do this? I depended SO much on my husband for everything. The accountant gave me this link to set up the ID.me account and I was able to get to all the information I needed and get it to her within the hour. She even thanked me for getting everything I needed so quickly.
ID me had trouble verifying me off of my ID and face scan so I had to get more documents to prove that I was me. I had to do a video call with a worker with said documents and show them on camera. Which I don't mind but the queue time was 25 minutes and I waited an hour and a half at my laptop. The call itself was quick
I have successfully used ID.me for identity verification, including government benefits and employment authentication. The process involved document submission, facial recognition, and secure login, with occasional delays but overall reliable security.
Except for one recent unusual login error message, ID.me has worked smoothly and quickly. Less passwords and more time is called efficient in my book. I hope it's expanded for all government services.
Being an expat with a non-US address, printed in a foreign language in utility bills, and with various versions of my name appearing across records, I could not be verified by Login.gov. ID.me was really the only option, unless you want to spend countless hours on overseas calls without a certain outcome.
I had some trouble with legit docs being rejected but realize ID.me are holding a high standard to verify. Eventually it all worked out, but lack of commenting is the only reason I did not give 5 stars.
Spent several hours messing about with I.D.me using my old laptop and scanner. My middle name appears on pp but only middle initial on driver license, which also caused some difficulty. Final video conference was excellent, but preliminary on screen data entry not worth the trouble if you are a geezer without a smart phone.
I tend to imagine the worst possible scenarios sometimes when going through new or uncommon experiences so when this video call went very smoothly with great ease and swiftness it made me feel relieved and happy, hopefully everyone else will be just as lucky.
I had an issue with my verification due to a cell number but thankfully this website uses video calling to use as a form of verification. Thank Goodness, the process was seamless. Definitely recommend it over competitor.

My family is planning a cruise next summer. The cruise line agent told us that in addition to a group discount, we could get another 10% off our fare if we were military veterans. It began when ID.me’s CEO and founder Blake Hall, a decorated Army Ranger, watched a military veteran display their DD214 separation paperwork to a store employee to claim a military discount. The document held far more information than was needed to verify military service. Exposing so much personal information for a single benefit was risky and unnecessary. There had to be a better way.
We set out with the mission to make community verification easier and more secure. We began with the military community, but quickly grew to include students, teachers, nurses, first responders, and government employees.
We built partnerships with hundreds of retailers and expanded into regulated sectors like government, healthcare, and financial services with legal identity verification for high-risk transactions.
Today, we’re building a digital identity network where users verify their identity once, and never have to re-verify their identity again across any organization where ID.me is accepted. It’s just like the driver's license in the physical world. Once you’re verified, proof of your identity goes with you everywhere.
