I verified with my credit card company that a down payment on the Good Dog platform did go through. After a week of trying to get Good Dog to correct my online account with them, they still have not credited the down payment I made to a breeder on their platform. If a payment platform does not keep track of payments, do not use it.
The Good Dog app made it so easy for us to connect with a verified and legitimate breeder. We sent messages and made all payments safely through the app. Now we have our new puppy! Seamless experience, thank you!
As a breeder, Gooddog is sketchy. They don't give breeders second chances if something goes wrong with the puppy they just automatically delete their account they have worked so hard to build up. If something every was to go wrong with a puppy after the buyer gets the puppy they should educate and say this is what you need to do and just suspend their account for so many months as a punishment and if that breeder doesn't improve then there account should be deleted and they shouldn't recognize that breeding program.
Hi Maddie,
Thank you for reaching out. Providing a safe and positive experience for everyone in our community is a top priority. That’s why all breeding programs featured on Good Dog must meet our standards, and we regularly review our breeders to ensure continuous compliance with these standards. While it’s important to us to enforce these standards consistently and fairly, it’s always our goal to work directly with breeders who may not be currently meeting these standards, and educate them about how to improve their programs.
After checking our records, we haven't been able to locate any Good Dog Breeder accounts under your name. We want to make sure we're providing you with the most accurate information possible, so if there might be an account under a different name or if you need any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us at breederteam@gooddog.com. Our team is always here to help.
Warmly,
The Good Dog Team
Cannot express enough how nice it is to have peace of mind knowing that breeders have been vetted and must meet a stringent code of ethics and practices to be listed on the Good Dog site. This is what the market has needed for a very long time!
I have several friends that use Good Dog that had 0 requirements to do any heath testing on their dogs or pups before joining the site. When I tried to join they wanted me to heath test my dogs and rejected my approval based on the type of breed I have! Good Dog is a biased JOKE!
Hi Chris,
We’re glad that a member of our team has already been able to connect with you and share more information about our Community Standards, Good Breeder Code of Ethics, and Policies, and how they may apply to an individual breeding program.
As they mentioned, all programs that are recognized on Good Dog must meet our Community Standards, Code of Ethics, and Policies (linked below), and may be subjected to periodic audits to ensure that our Community Standards are upheld.

We understand that our Compliance Team let you know about the necessary changes you’d need to make to your program in line with our Standards, and that should those changes be made, we’d be happy to re-evaluate your program at the end of the six month timeframe our team communicated to you.
We understand that not everyone will agree with our approach, but we know that you, as a dog breeder, are working very hard and that you have a breeding program to be proud of. We continue to wish you all the best.
Kind Regards,
Good Dog Team
I have been with Good Dog for quite some time, and my experience has taken a disappointing turn. Initially, I was pleased with the platform, but issues began to arise when they started collecting fees on puppy sales without any prior notification. I only found out about these charges when a buyer informed me they were charged both a deposit fee and an additional fee on the final payment. This lack of transparency is unacceptable.
Furthermore, I attempted to apply for my Frenchies, only to be rejected due to a "no Merle" policy. It's baffling to think that dogs are being discriminated against based on their color. Since when do we judge dogs in this way? After my initial denial, I was informed that I needed to wait six months and not have any Merles in my program before reapplying. I complied, rehomed my Merles, and have since had none in my program. Yet, I was denied again for the same reason!
This policy feels arbitrary and unfair. Good Dog's approach to dog breeds and colors is not only confusing but also quite frustrating. I would advise anyone considering their services to think twice. Save yourself the hassle and find a more transparent and fair platform for your dogs. Good Dog is a joke—remove your dogs from their program and look elsewhere.
Hi Xavier,
Thank you for reaching out. Although we understand that you have not been a member of our community since May, we’re happy to share more information about the recent changes we made to our pricing structure for breeders, which we announced to our community in August.
With this change, when we've done the work of connecting a Good Dog breeder with a Good Dog buyer and they decide to place one of their pups with them, there will be a 6.5% deduction applied to the deposit (if they have one) and dog payments with that buyer. We're committed to building a stronger, more sustainable platform for all our breeders, and this pricing structure helps ensure our services remain viable long-term.
All programs that are recognized on Good Dog must meet our Community Standards, Code of Ethics, and Policies, to ensure our standards are enforced consistently and fairly. We’re glad that a member of our team has already been able to connect with you and share more information about these standards and policies, including our Merle Policy. As they shared with you, Good Dog does not recognize breeding programs that produce merle French Bulldogs as outlined in Good Dog’s Policy on Merles: https://www.gooddog.com/good-breeder-center/good-dogs-policy-on-merles

I have already referred others to GoodDog. I liked that I could see who the breeder was, where they are located, and I was able to message the breeder to ask questions before reserving the puppy.
Good Dog was so easy to use, from the search function all the way to the end. Customer service is super responsive.
I was looking for an English Bulldog, which can be a challenge. Good Dog vetted breeders so I didn't have to worry about a potential scam. They also followed up during the process and provided useful articles for bringing home a puppy. Overall, great experience.
We found our new furbaby at Ali-Mae Cavaliers through Good Dog. Our breeder was helpful and kind. I had some tech issues (my lack of skill, not Good Dog's issue) and contacted their help line and received timely and effective help--I even got a live person on a Sunday! We have a beautiful, healthy pup and could not be happier with him!
Answer: Completely legitimate company for dog breeders, groomers, trainers, and buyers.
Answer: I found Gooddog.com and found reputable dog breeders. Breeders who have been around for several years who provide references. I will be getting a puppy in a spring litter.

Verified Owner Stories appear on your Good Dog profile and in search results, so you can show off your happily placed pups to potential buyers who are looking to learn more about what it's like to work with you, and share a glimpse of how your pups are doing in their new homes.
