I did not sign up for a subscription but merely paid a one-time fee to have one of my songs "remastered." A $10 waste of money but worse - they fraudulently signed me up for a one-year paid membership at that same time. I did not notice until this year (today) when they charged me $100 for a renewal. So far, they've stolen $200 from me. I'm reporting them far and wide and also submitting a case to small claims court in my city. They need to be charged and shut down immediately. This is theft. I'm not one to sit idly by while anyone takes advantage of me while stealing from my credit card.
I did manage to put a band together partly by using bandmix. However the site is not curated and lots of info is out of date. Active over a month ago can mean 5 weeks or 5 years! If you want to send a message it will cost £12 for a 1 month membership. Membership automatically renews so unless you are awake they'll get it twice. New musician notifications seem completely useless, either 10s of miles or counties away, and often lead to inactive members.
Improvements suggested: sort the above and ditch members that haven't been active (logged-in) for 12 months (they may be breaking GDPR rules for not doing so).
So in a 15 month period, my ensemble (The Splendid Anachronisms), given we have posted ample information, photos, demo audio and video, have netted a big fat goose egg on successful connections, both in terms of adding talent to our effort, and venues we'd hope might spot us. As a matter of fact, most in the community I know have never heard of Bandmix.com. Bandmix has no criteria for quality control of its members. I would estimate in the 80th percentile of listings don't even contain a photo, let alone demo audio/video material. Our presentation is straightforward, not claiming to be anything we're not, just an honest effort with reasonable objectives. Most Bandmix.com content seems to be either shadows behind no front material, or bar bands with no real focus on what they seek. Worst of all: Bandmix provides NO feedback forum or blog where members can voice concerns or ideas for improvement of the service. It's basically pay and you get what you get.
About Us:
The Splendid Anachronisms currently performs as an acoustic duo hailing from Howard and Montgomery Counties, Maryland. Available for community and private event engagements, our music focuses in Americana and Popular music, 60s through 2000s.
We hope to be BOTH spotted by venues, and while actively playing out, we CURRENTLY SEEK additional talent as described above, but especially acoustic-focused bass, acoustic-electric lead for mature, cool riffs and interludes in our varied sets. Steel guitar, Banjo and Mando also welcome, as well as female vocalist.
We derived our name from our time of life. "Anachronisms" means something misplaced in time. We honor great material many have forgotten or never got to enjoy; likewise, we love playing music many wouldn't expect of our years.
Not a bar band, per se and with primarily daytime gigs, we play for the sake of music and bringing joy to our audiences. With strong affinities toward busking, we prefer to find or be invited to venues in the local community. For love of what we do as friends and musicians, we prove that donations-based does not equal lousy. Give us your requests and we'll work up a set list!

After I explained that the site did not work out for me, they refused to refund my RECENT auto subscription. Claimed they would give me the credit on account THAT WAS NOT EFFECTIVE.
Save your money for something less useless!
It's not for musicians. This is a site only for professionals who want to be in a gigging band. I work professionally and have music as a hobby. This site is not for me and it took me a while and money spent and frustration with the messages that I was paying to use. No real option or chance for connection with other people who play instruments, like music, etc. Waste of everything.
Yeah I know... they have a free version too.
This is a slightly higher tech cartoon version of Craigslist. Yup 99% of the people that use it suck badly at whatever aspect of music they aspire to.
FACT... if you are truly good at playing your instrument and/or singing, and have been at it for a long time, you've already established a dependable network of like-minded peers over the years. People you've played with professionally, or even on an amateur/avocation level. AND... you don't need these crappy internet affinity group subscriber services.
All of us that have been at it successfully in the music world for a while surely already know this.
Gone are the days when people were a bit more honest and objective about their skill level and experience. But these days with YT, FB (and all the rest of the garbage social media), and smartphone, any untalented idiot can put up garbage, or tweak content technically to make it appear as something it's not.
Gone are the days when people made skill and experience judgments quickly and person. Now they'd just rather mentally masturbate behind a PC with protools and doctor content. "GOT A VIDEO CLIP?" Sound familiar?
Bandmix is just another scamming bunch of grifters hiding behind a PC and current technology.
Absolutely waste of time, effort and money. Most of the posts you see are not real people but bots, fake accounts as no one ever responds back to your messages no matter what you write ask offer or say, and no one ever contacts you. Yet they will keep advertising day in week out month after month year after year, same profile, all active but never responding to your messages or contacting you EVER. You will NEVER find a musician to work with and will spend hours of your life scrolling these ads of FAKE PEOPLE that DON'T EXIST or are the stupidest arrogant wannabe time wasters who get a kick out of advertising themselves just to get messages to make themselves feel popular but who have no intention of following up. Probably because they are useless musicians or not even musicians or using it as a dating site
I joined a month ago tried to contact several musicians with no response. Tried to view my message that I sent to people can't. I am really pissed at this. I can view others and that's all.
My husband Kenny Brent and I used Band Mix for 10 plus years and it really turned out to be something we utilized and had success with. Finding the right musicians quickly when something unexpected comes up or when a long term project was coming up, we found Band Mix was a site we automatically posted on and many times we found a great fit. The profile information is set up so you can really read between the lines if you know what I mean? It was easy to see if someone was hyping themselves to be something they were not. Example one drummer who responded to us had his profile as professional, practiced all the time, could play all genres, a golden find. But he had only played 4 gigs and had pretty much had no live stage experience and Kenny still talked to him and he had no clue to anything Kenny was asking. On the other hand the MAJORITY of the members were upfront, professional and almost by the 1st message you could get the vibe if they were going to be the one. It's so simple to set up account, and profile covers everything you would want to know before an interview if you were a company. So applicants are basically a phone call and/or possibly a practice away. The free site is great for struggling musicians (arent they all? Lol) and after you make a few bucks, sign up for the upgrade and instant access to available musicians not only in your local area, but access to musicians all over so it you need to meet up with one across the U.S. for a gig you are in need of a musician there. Thanks Band Mix for saving us in many situations throughout Kenny Brent's life and career!
I have never seen a group of so called musicians that dont answer their adds in the new England area.
Are their egos so big that they like just seeing your band mix add. Really tired of seeing the same adds. If you dont want to answer the add get off the site and give the people that want a good name to advertise. You are affecting the quality and reputation of band mix.
They tricked me into signing up for "free" but then wanted my credit card to contact musicians. Next!
Found a great collaboration thanks to it. Highly recommended. Lots of opportunities, will use again as long as they don't ask money for simple profiles.
I used the free version if this site and it worked really well. I met incredible musicians on here, made lasting friends and connections. Hooked up with professionals and got paid, legitimate, and recurring session work. I am a professional musician myself so I think my profile attracted genuine offers. Also received offers from people who weren't good matches or wanted free work but I disregarded or politely declined those.
It has worked for me twice now, however services
Are a little pricy... overall I would say it's worth it if you need a particular part of your band filled, both times took about a month too fill our vacancies in my band.
I was really surprised that I hadn't heard of bandmix before as I've been a musician for over 20 years and played in a bunch of different groups. Finding the right cat to fill a spot can be a tricky thing. Bandmix is really well organized and allowed us to find some horn players real quickly. Musicians looking to get serious should check it out.
Maybe it was the lockdown, people seem to have varying levels of success on here, but for me it worked out great. I think it really comes down to what you put into it. I added a bunch of music and a detailed description for what I wanted to do and was able to find a really tight group. We even started working on our own material last week. I never would've met these guys without bandmix, so thanks!
They take your money hoping you wont notice how they manipulate your settings... this is as slimy as it gets.
it would be better if members had to put up some samples of their work. some folks do, most don't. sort of a crapshoot.
Bunch of 'posturing' wanna-be's, egomaniacs or worse... a kazillion 'brain dead' people all doing the exact same thing... sometimes for YEARS... Oh! THINK you found a talented person? Make contact- only to be ignored... Lol... You won't know if they LIKE, HATE are INDIFFERENT to- or just blown away. As they simply won't RESPOND once they ask you to 'share a few files'. Then there's the utter fools who apparently ( in this digital age) can't bother to even have an acapella file singing ANYTHING... like they're there JUST TO BE NOTICED? Bandmix needs to have a MINIMUM requirement of at least ONE audio file ( we won't even get into video for these particular no file 'fools' where they maybe sing 'F**K ME!' even out of key. JUST TWO WORDS. Be prepared for someone to blatantly ignore all the ( great) things you and your fellow musicians are doing... and say, 'Send me some clips to see if we're a 'good match'... Your KIDDING me right? A GOOD MATCH? Bandmix has a decent enough format though to LIMIT the ( already limited genre's) to 'just four' is freeking redundant. There are hundreds and HUNDREDS of genres and ( sub) genres but Bandmix expects you to say 'just rock' when you can't find 'progressive classic' or progressive pop' rock etc... That's the rub. In my opinion? Bandmix is NOT geared to ultra-pro's who write, record and/or perform anything original... it's setup for 'Joe' or 'Kelly' who are stuck in the same old, same old 'blues' or what have you. I stupidly TRY Bandmix in my home state... just in case there's anyone really SERIOUS but always resign the account after one or two days of asininity.
Enough said... I won't make the mistake again..
Bandmix wouldn't be making enough greed $$$$$ if they made the site function as it should, because they wouldn't be making money on continual memberships if everyone found band members within 30 days. So they intentionally create lost messages and typical (search for people) website scemes.
Answer: More TRUE profiles. I've formed 2 bands and have gotten 95% of the musician's fro Band Mix with NO B. S.
Answer: Go to your dashboard by clicking on your circled picture and scroll down to where it says music, click on the music edit sign, that will open up your "Manage Your Music" page, then click on "Upload Music" at the bottom.
Answer: I've ran into the same problem. However, if you become a paid subscriber they tend to work with you better.
