I worked on their donation line for 2 yrs and learned that most of their rescues are In new York city in their shelter but the do send teams out across the country to rescue animals in breeding mills. If you want to donate please donate to local facilities where your money will help those in need surrounding you. Aspca's commercials want to make you cry but your money is not going across the country for thise in desperate need and it is lining the ceo and administration's pockets

Glad I checked
January 15, 2025

I was going to renew my membership I quit sometime ago, before doing so something told me look up reviews. I'm on a very small income but have always gave what I could. Reading these Reviews have definitely changed my mind. I want to gift some money where it benefits. The animals not the CEOs. I'm shocked they make that much. So thanks for all the reviews out Research another one.

I will not donate to the the charity as they pay too much to the CEO and the administrators the pet could use this money. We would be better served by spending less on administration and more on the pets!

There are no animals available in North Carolina to adopt from ASPCA This means they are not active in this area animal rescue. If you are in North Carolina don't give anything to them but give to local animal rescue organizations like Human Society.

I will never donate to them, on there advertisements they show how they rescue these poor animals, but in reality they don't, if you want to donate local shelter or a local rescue, I donate to Mission K9 rescue which is based in in Texas they rescue all the dogs that where left in Afghanistan and take care of them for the rest of their lives their are military dogs.

I find the commercials insulting. Although I do believe animals are abused and neglected, I see nothing of the positive when these animals are supposedly rescued. It is way over kill and I'd like to see everyone else's paycheck for physically attending to these animals. I doubt anyone running this operation does anything hands on. I'd give locally and check in.

Commercials
July 14, 2024

I would love to rescue any of these animals but what makes me angry is that you never say what is done to those that cause this abuse. And you film these animals but I don't see these animals getting help. Empty water dishes.give them water. In the heat.give them shade. Very pathetic. Change your commercials and I'll consider.

They are a shame
March 12, 2024

I don't recommend it, they don't help they just keep your money. They are ashamed to promote that they rescue and help you with your pets' emergencies, you pay monthly so that they do not respond when you need to apply what they offer you.

Years ago I donated to the ASPCA; I provided my phone number as requested when filling out my donation. Afterwards, I received many phone calls pressuring me for a donation, and when I asked for information to be sent to me by mail, I was also pressured to promise to pledge a certain amount. I swore I wouldn't donate to them again; I donated (and still donate) to other local charities instead. Years later, a friend on Facebook shared a post from the ASPCA and requested anyone wanting to do so, to donate to the ASPCA in lieu of an actual present. I donated with a few clicks, and a month later I see a second charge, and another after that, all from the ASPCA, along with emails saying I'm part of their Guardian program, and can I up my pledge?, & etc. Here's where it gets sleazy: there's no easy way to cancel a recurring donation. They have a page saying you can email them to pause a donation, and if you do that, they say they'll "review your request for a pause", but then don't actually pause anything - they keep charging you. Any emails or FB messages are either unanswered, or a bot replies. Charges on my account have continued over 5 months with not a single reply from the ASPCA though email, Messenger, or even their Facebook page (which posts a few times a day, every day). I will note that there is an FTC "Click To Cancel" law that requires companies to make it as easy for consumers to cancel their enrollment as it was to sign up. The ASPCA has not followed this; if you want to cancel anything, you are given a phone number and more hoops to jump through. As of this date I am still being charged every month, with no reply from anyone at the ASPCA. Do not donate to the ASPCA. Find a local animal charity to donate to.

ASPCA Pet Insurance is a SCAM! Beware, they WILL charge you for YEARS when they know you are missing a paper that would allow you to get ANY compensation under this policy! So they have no problem charging you for the policy and coverage they did NOT provide, and you'll learn it when it's too late, when you've paid for years and your pet is sick... I'll be taking it up not only with my bank as a SCAM, but also with a lawyer. Immoral dirty crooks... You don't expect it from ASPCA... This is your warning! Go with Healthy Paws instead!

The President
December 7, 2024

Before people donate their hard-earned money they need to know the president receives a million dollar salary a year. He could easily cut it in Half and that's enough money for anybody to live on and donate the other half to help the animals. I was shocked and quit donating immediately. I donate my money to my local Hood County Animal control they do great work and they need the money. You should look into your local Animal rescuers and donate to them. All of that money goes to the shelter to take care of the animals who they rescue. At least I know my money's not going to one GREEDY man who cares very little about the animals or he would not be taking a MILLION DOLLAR a year salary

Needing more money
March 2, 2024

You guys would have alot of money if you cut the salaries of your CEO and higher ups and cut back on all the commercials. You do too much advertising and you barely help the animal shelters. Shane on you guys

No help!
December 27, 2023

I called to try to find someone to rescue a golden retriever, that was dropped off close to my house in the county. It was 9 degrees last night. The representative wanted to send me to a web site that could help me find help for this beautiful dog.
The CEO makes over $900,000 per year. What does their CEO do? What does ASPCA do? Their ad says they are out rescuing animals but I don't believe it. They are asking for money on TV, but I got no help!

Never again
January 8, 2024

I will never donate to this charity again. I was a monthly donor for years. Nothing positive in the commercials. Who stands there filming these animals while they continue to suffer? I would stop their suffering immediately. Not stand there and film it. Disgusting.

Best adoption experience
November 25, 2020

We got both of our cats from the ASPCA at separate times (both as kittens), and both of our experiences were lovely. They socialize their kittens and have information on the personality of each. They take care of the cats and vaccinate and neuter them before adoption (unless you adopt under 3 month old kittens, in which case you take them to get vaccinated free of charge once they're old enough). The staff is accommodating and kind, the process is pretty straightforward and not invasive, and they provide you with some food and toys to go with the cat after you adopt. If it's your first time getting a pet, they also give you a lot of good and necessary information.
Overall I've had a wonderful experience each time and I'm so glad to have my wonderful cats!

Money
February 23, 2024

You put starving dogs in cruel situations to plead for our money. Your profits went from $85 mil to $280 million. Perhaps your so called nonprofit should not pay your CEO and other upper staff such high wages. That way you could actually help those dogs & cats and not use the money to line your pockets!

I've submitted two claims to ASPCA for a puppy in two months. We pay $55/month for the insurance and it has been a nightmare to get even a $1 reimbursement. I would definitely not recommend this pet insurance company.

I was at a recent charity event for another pet rescue and the ASPCA was there and donated $100,000 to help out a partner charity. However, their administrative phone lines are horrible *******700) no one picks up and if you are trying to get an animal spayed or neutered that's even more pathetic (try this number: *******692) it's their posted spay number. I confronted the well-paid executive about this as she boasted about their spay/neuter clinic (it does not exist!). Their hospital is marginal--basic clinic (do not bring a sick pet here) as they offer limited services. They do offer however reasonably prices private cremation services and adoption.

I am planning to donate to this charity for animals. My friend advice me not to why? He told me animals only get 3% of every donations the rest goes to employees pocket. For all animal lovers dogs, cats, birds etc...let's donate our money to local animal shelters. ASPCA used stray injured wounded dogs cats for money don't be fool!
