The whole process was very good from start to finish. They were very thorough and explained everything during each step of the process. No hidden fees or "catches". Would use them again. Unfortunately my drive was too damaged to extract data.

I contacted more than one data recovery company when my relative needed help with a dead external HDD. The companies that called me immediately after I enquired via email were very cagey when discussing costs. One of the companies called me multiple times and would not commit to a price. I got the impression that the files would be held for ransom by some of these shady characters. After further research it seems that some companies try to charge as much as possible. I got the impression that I'd be bidding for my files. "Starting" at $249 is not quote. They have to have your drive in hand to give you a price.

$300 Data Recovery responded via email (no sales call) with clear communication about the process and was very transparent that $300 plus shipping would be the total cost unless a "donor" drive had to be sourced to replace faulty parts on the bad drive. It turned out that we did have to buy that drive at an additional cost of $146.

Including that cost and all the shipping, the total cost was $466. They recovered everything as far as I can tell. Communication was great throughout the process. I had no surprises.

I would not hesitate to recommend them, and I'll use them again if I have a similar issue in the future.

Two 1/2 years ago (during the pandemic) I lost my external hard drive (it was old and not backed-up).

The best start-to-finish customer service and delivery-on-end-product experience that I have had in years. Like maybe a decade. They did what local services could not and recovered all of my data from a Mac laptop that took a bath in a travel mug of tea and completely died. When my computer crashed and my files were unable to be recovered, I was naturally panicked. I had no idea what to do, if anything could be done or what it should cost. A local company that came up in a Google search was eager to immediately accommodate me, quoting a price of $400 to start with no certainty of how much higher the cost would go (suggesting that it could be close to, or well over $1,000). While trying to crunch some numbers in my budget, I came across $300 Data Recovery. MAKE NO MISTAKE: Just because $300 Data Recovery is affordable doesn't mean that their product and service is not as good as the cost-prohibitive companies. In fact, they are better. $300 Data Recovery never tired of me (even though I was tired of myself!) but with each inquiry, they responded as if they knew me personally and were giving me preferential treatment. Actually, all of their information was clear, but they sensed that a person in the position of needing data recovery needs extra assurance.

They recovered my files at a minimum price with maximum care and top-notch service and expertise. The price was honest and reasonable and they were upfront with any possible additional costs (which were bare minimal) and the service was top-notch.

My 4TB backup hard drive failed with 20 years of business and personal records, 1000s of hi res digital photos of all of our family trips and events, and about 800 hi res and CD albums.
