My account was hacked and they changed my password. Trying to secure my info but you guys it seems like you enjoy what happened. Tried all the options to delete my account but your team is not cooperating to send me the code to finalize the process. No data is safe with this app if you can shut out even the owner. The sad part you have no other option of a person verifying that it's truly them.

I recently discovered VK as a result of a series of emails notifying me that my account had been accessed in Russia, my password had been changed, etc.etc. Etc.

I had never even heard of VK until this, and obviously never created an account there. This seems to happen rather often... I am curious about how many of their numerous user accounts are actually real, and how many are fake, like mine was. I just deleted it... hopefully this will be the end of my experience with VK.

Someone used my resume to set up a fake VK profile with all my personal information posted on the internet. I asked them numerous times to take it down, explaining that it was an unauthorized, fake account. They asked me to prove my identity which I did by sending them identifying documents, and they still refuse to take down the profile. Another reviewer says it's because VK and some of the people that use VK steal identities and set up fake profiles to scam people.

I guess you have to be in Russia to keep an account on this site! My first try making an account my phone number was blocked (weirdly) even tho it's never been used before? Then I tried another number and made an account and now some months later I can't login (says my pw is wrong and it's not), so I started a new account using a different phone number that I still have access to and after a few hours it was shut down with the note that I violated their terms of service?!? HOW? I never posted or did anything on the site! I don't understand it. Are these Russians that run the site all mental deficients or something?

My account got banned for no reason. Their Statement: Because of suspicious activity. Well $#*! sherlock, I got hacked! Their service is $#*!. They are $#*!. Don't bother using them. I don't wish to even Rate those low rate criminals.

I've been using VKontakte for about 5 years now, and I can say it's one of the most useful social networking platforms for those who speak Russian, English, and other languages.

VKontakte looks very similar to Facebook, and offers the option of having a personal page as well as a vast number of creative and business and discussion pages. Those pages, which have thousands of followers, can offer ads services to others.

VK lets it's users save unlimited numbers of photos and videos, as well as load videos directly to VK.COM without using YouTube or any other external video upload service.

Also, there is an option to make Skype-like calls to other users, free (internet data usage is on you of course), and chat. In addition you can create group chats with up to 200 users, but they have to be added as friends.

VK has an option where you can add music tracks to your posts.

Vk was the primary social outlet for russia, russian speaking, and some other FSU states (Former Soviet Union). But with facebook expanding the last few years into multiple languages VK has declined. VK was a platform for scammers to set up fake profiles to suck unsuspecting people into being ripped of in scams, namely dating. It was done by setting up fictious fake accounts, and acting as if they were real, and waiting for an unsuspecting victim to come to them, just like a moray eel sits in a hole and waits for it's victim to check out it's hole in the hope of finding a home!. VK would be 100 percent aware of this because how could they not, and at some point there would have been a complaint to them(the site owners). And if that is not bad enough, there are many profiles of women on there that are in one corner or another of the sex industry!
