The renewal process is extremely outdated and difficult. It currently requires physical printing on regular and glossy paper and snail mailing forms across the country and takes 18 weeks to renew. In-person appointments are reserved only for emergencies. Please make an online renewal form! This could make things easier for applicants as well as government workers.
It's impossible to call them. Nobody pick up the phone. Rude customer service. Pretend they didn't receive an application, but cashed my check that was in the same envelope and lost my child old passport. Nobody knows how to help. Hire new people who wants to work. Lazy workers that not help.
The government employees are so unwilling to help people or do there jobs in a timely manner. They have forgotten who pays there salaries. It is so unfortunate that someone

I am renewing a heavily used passport. The passport lead times are ridiculous and this is being nice. I have already had to cancel two trips and another trip coming in two weeks. Expedited service is like dealing with a drug dealer. You pay almost $100.00 to get no guarantee that anything will be expedited. You have to cut and paste an email and than add your charge card information to an email. This is 1990 technology and we wonder why identities get stolen.
Once they receive your document, mine took 9 weeks, and after reviewing your documents the site states it might take 6 more expedited weeks to package your new passport and an additional 6 weeks to mail it. This is the expedited service
These people were not able to assist me my date of travel is this coming Thursday, July 7 I've called them over 10 times and no one was able to help me everyone except for one customer service guy was able to find my application and he swore he emailed the agency to expedite my passport, but I doubt that he did so. You guys suck and all the people that work for you suck too. I hope enough of these one star ratings will get you guys closed down because you're not assisting with anything.
Passport renewal is taking forever and to make things worse nobody picks up my calls and the website keeps crashing. They answered my call 1 time and then I'm supposedly transferred to another agent but wait time is 2.5 hours! Info on their site had 3-5 weeks if expedited then went up to 5-7 weeks but still no passport or any clue of when it will be ready. To make things worse I wasted a lot of money on fees to make them expedite my passport and still they are way past due.Shame on you for offering 3rd world service level!
Placed my renewal order on 1/11 with travel coming up on 4/29. Based on their timeline, I had plenty of time to get this done. 4 weeks passed before they even changed the status to 'in progress'. Now it's 3/17, no updates, and no status. I spent over 5 hours on hold one day to be told they didn't have any updates for me. The call volume is too high everyday, so I'm not sure what to do next. I guess I have to go in to USPS now and do an expedited process? And pay more money? This is so confusing. Service is terrible, and really nonexistent. Spare yourself the stress, and physically go in. This is a complete nightmare, and just another example of how incompetent our government really is. FIX IT OR DON'T OFFER IT.
I have been trying to contact these people for two days. I have made 5 separate calls just to put be on hold for 2 hours just to get rude customer support and cut my call shortly in less than 5 minutes. I have a family emergency needed to tend to out of country and I might not be able to attend to in time. Why can I just not simply renew my passport online or email instead of having to wait for hours on hold!?

So many things they can still process in this crisis many documents to process no need to have the applicant at the office. So come on stop with the nonsense of covid 19, they process payment very quick to send your documents very slow and delay of few months unfair.
