Great quality clothing and selection with unbeatable prices! I now use live chat with instant answers to questions!
I had heard of this company and remember in the past it had a good reputation. Not so anymore. I decided to purchase an Adrianna Papell dress. However, a few minutes after placing my order I felt uneasy and wish I had read all the horrible reviews posted on Sitejabber first, then I would never have gotten entangled with battling this 'company' in the first place. In the first place, there is NO customer service number to call when I decided to cancel my order ten minutes later. There are 'chat' assistants who keep repeating the same information: my order could not be cancelled because it had already been shipped. Really in ten minutes? That is illogical and impossible. I ended that chat and began another chat, explaining I wished to cancel my order but instead was given the same story that my order had already been shipped. I asked for a tracking number. I was provided with a tracking number which not surprisingly is a fake one because the item is listed as "tracking information will be updated as soon as item ships." That was ten days ago. There is no hope of a return because their return policy is such that the shipping PLUS the restocking fee is almost the price I paid for the dress. I lost $23.00 on this outrageous, dishonest 'company'. I realize $23.00 is not a huge sum of money, yet it is infuriating to be have my money stolen.
They sent me a "comeback" coupon that didn't work. When I finally contacted the so called customer service via "chat" they were useless.
It's a scam to get people back to the site. I wasted time looking and then tracking down customer service. No phone availability.
Truly an awful experience
I ordered clothes and what I received was not what was described. Aside from most items being mis sized, the denim jacket was tattered and full of holes. It's Non-returnable and so I'm unable to return it. I'm left with a useless rag.
The other clothing fit poorly and I am being charged a $2 restocking fee per item. In addition, I opted to pay for shipping so that I'd get everything refunded to my credit card since do not want store credit.
Awful experience! I ordered 3 pair of shoes, two did not fit, one was defective. I returned them the next day and was charged $2 each as a "restocking fee". I never got a refund so I checked the site. I was issued a store credit, not a refund. When I contacted support, after MUCH searching and run around to do so, I was told "I see that your return was refunded as thredUP credits because whoever created the return, selected thredUP credits as the preferred refund method." So, they decided but they will do me the "FAVOR" of an exception, however, I have to wait for an email from them to proceed since they are saying that I chose a refund, even though they just said that they did... This has been over a week ago so I went through the process of contacting them again and was told that I had to keep waiting to hear from them. Oh, and I wont be refunded for shipping, that will be deducted, so its cost me around $15 to try on some shoes, one defective pair. Im sure they will be relisting the defective pair as well so as to sell to another sucker, assuming I ever do get the email.
UPDATE: I mailed them back on the 9th. Its now the 18th and they say they have not received them. They are VERY rude and dismissive when you try to ask about anything.
This company asks you to donate your used clothes so that they could price it at retail value and give you a small percentage of it. Not right and not fair at all. Either sell the clothes at a price of a thrift store or don't sell at all. Pricing a pair of used sweatpants for the same price as brand new ones at Walmart is just disgraceful. Get a purpose people, this way or repurposing does not work.
Wow! Very impressed with this site. It's very similar to The RealReal, but has a bit better prices when you wait for sales on your favorite items, and also has returns on all items. The Real Real, on other hand, only accepts returns on sales 30% or less. Plus I've ordered more things that actually fit me at this site than any other site.
Im into vintage fashion and for some reason only here I can find piece which I can combine with original vintage clothing so that one couldn't tell it's modern piece. THX
I sent in two large kits and four months later they had still not been processed I contacted Threadup but they only responded when I said I'd pay the return fee. I was informed that I'd have the items back in three to four weeks. Two months had gone by and I had not received my items back. I finally had enough and contacted Threadup once again and told them if I did not receive my clothing and accessories back would report it as stolen. The following week I received all the clothing and accessories back. I opened it and was upset to find all the items were heavily damaged. When I had sent them out not a single item had any damage. Shirts and dresses were ruined, jewelry was chipped and a handbag was covered in scuff marks. All the damage is irreversible. When I reached out to Threadup I didn't receive a single response. They are thieves and brats only caring if it benefits them.
This company is unorganized and incompetent. Whoever runs this company shouldn't be running a company unless its goal is to rip off people. I don't even want to give it any stars. I really hate myself for trusting this company. No more and if you are thing of buying or selling to this company, do some research. They do bad business. Also they only reply to good comments and don't have the balls to reply to the bad ones. Research people this company is bad business.
After finally getting someone to answer me email. I am more angry. I sent them 2 large bags of nice designer shoes, purses, and clothes. I was told they received my items. Now they tell, me they lost one of the packages and gave me a 35.00 credit. I was robbed. There were new designer items in those bags. I am thinking when they saw what was there they kept them for themselves. I feel like I was robed. They should be ashamed to be doing this to people.
Its a risk you take. 3 of 6 items in my recent order said 'you might think this new' hahaha! Obviosly HOLES, BROKEN BUCKLE, MOTH THINNING SPOTS... not ordering again. Complicated return, some like my MOTH eaten not eligible for return. EBay has more consumer protection against lying sellers!
I almost cleared out my closet and sent them items in perfect condition. I am getting close to nothing back. Even a brand new BCBG blazer with tags still on they sold with a discount that I wasn't informed off and they tell me after I'm getting even less back for it. This is an absolute scam and I regret doing it with every bone in my body. I would have rather given it away for free than give any profit to this horrible company. I will be reclaiming all of my close and end up losing money in the process but I will not give them my clothes for free. They say they donate clothes that are not sold in their stipulated time period but I highly doubt it. Stay far away!
My review is twofold.
As for selling to ThreadUp - DON'T DO IT! I sold a boxful of Torrid and Lane Bryant tops, jeans, boots to them, approximately 20 pieces, and received $8.36. Pitiful and disgusting.
As for buying, if you stick to the clearance items, you can get some really great deals. I recently spent my $8.36 credit and got a pair of Lane Bryant capris, Lane Bryant dress pant and Torrid dress pant and spent an additional $31.01, including shipping.
Sold some clothing, they profit off of your items, you get Little to nothing the clothing that I sold were name brand also in a1 shape True Religion, Ralph Lauren!
I bought to different items. They said they were on there way. NOt sure who's fault it is but my address to deliver was wrong. I have been waiting for some response from them sense each package has been returned. My address in my account is correct. There is nothing on their web page as how to contacted them.
I had the opportunity to shop with this site last year, I've gotten some very nice pieces for my closet. I have had an issue with filtering. I purchased three pieces not appropriately assigned to the right category. Two I was able to gift to a younger person. The third piece I still have because I know no one that tall and heavy. More recently, I've been unable to re-establish my account and support has been able to resolve the issue. I don't want to have to signup with a new email.
I sent a 7 lb bag of excellent condition and brand new items to be sold, and they only accepted 4 items and donated the rest. Their "clean out" bags are now my new "garbage" bags! I would have been better off selling my things at a yard sale or on Ebay!
I sent a bag full of kids clothes that were like new and a few women's pieces and they only picked three pieces out of the bag. What did the do with the rest of it? Wouldn't surprise me if it ended up on another site. And their payout policy is crap!
GO TO A THRIFT OR CONSIGNMENT STORE. DO NOT USE THREADUP. A RIP OFF. I AM IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY SO I TRULY UNDERSTAND THE VALUE OF WHAT I HAD SENT FOR CONVENIENCE. NEVER AGAIN. A TOTAL RIP OFF FOR SELLERS.
Absolutely terrible. I am in the fashion industry. I have used exclusive consignment shops to drop off items no longer being used. However became inconvenient so tried ThreadUp.
If you value the items you send; do not even think about this service.
They use clearly inexperienced employees who do not know value of items sent. Have rejected worn once designer clothing and boots which once sent are lost to you unless you want to pay a high fee for them to return to you.
Horrible
Do not use them!
Answer: Same thing happened to me. Now they can't find it and want me to take a 35.00 credit. Just donate to good will. You will have less green.
Answer: Is it worth your time and money? Yes. However, don't spend much the first time. Order the ThreadUp Box. You'll get between 10 to 15 pieces based on your clothing and style options. If you like the pieces sent, keep it, If not, sent it back at no cost to you.
Answer: It may be "legit" but they have terrible business practices towards sellers. They will basically TAKE what you send in an not give you any credit for it, nor give you a good reason why it was not deemed "acceptable." They basically took a nearly new Longchamp purse (used ONCE-not my style) and tried saying it wasn't acceptable. Meanwhile, they have like 6 of them for sale on their site for $60.
