Talbots seems to have farmed out their customer service. I called and had to contend with a very loud call center, sounded huge, with a heavily accented man who was of no help whatsoever. Could barely hear him amongst all the background noise. I ordered what was described as a coat, only to find out after placing the online order that it is actually only a coatigan, completely unlined. I only found this out from the review from another customer, Talbots is selling this at a vey high price, calling it a coat but it isn't! I want to cancel the order but buddy from "customer service" won't do a thing! I am from Canada, so I cannot return it upon delivery as I will be out return shipping plus the huge fee for duties, what a scam company this has turned into! Update: Talbots never responded to my email to cancel the order, nor to my call requesting the same thing. They shipped the order, the coatigan is a terrible quality and arrived wrinkled and horrible looking. I now have to pay to press it. Waste of money, and even worse there was a half eaten cookie in the bag, and crumbs all over the clothing. On a past order I had received a black sleeveless top that arrived with a brownish looking stain on it that looked and smelled like melted chocolate, customer service said to return it and buy a new one and pay duties a second time without them reimbursing the 1st duties payment. Horrible, for a company that used to be of a higher standard, very sad. Do their warehouse staff eat lunch while packing orders?
I have shopped at Talbots for years. The quality of their merchandise is has declined from what it was.
Now there is a $2.99 charge for getting a paper bill and paying by check, no notice except the one that came with the bill. Totally unacceptable, keep your greed. The second complaint is the courtesy with giving customers a box, paper and ribbon for gift items is gone, even their shopping bags are
Just brown bags now. With this said my shopping with Talbots is finished and also the other stores that this private equity firm swallowed up. Good luck future customers.
I purchased a military jacket that had very specific clasps. One side of one fell off when I was out. They did not provide an extra clasp when I first purchased it (Banana Republic always provides an extra button, thread etc), but I figured, that's alright, I'll call them. I called and spoke to a rep. "You need to re-enforce buttons" um okay, never did that before, and are you seriously telling me that you expect me to do that when I buy an item from you? Followed by "I don't have any more of those" which would have been okay had she not followed it up by "this is really old". She wasn't politely explaining that she doesn't have it because it's last season, which I could have understood. It was like are you nuts calling about an item from six months ago. I politely told her that I expect to wear garments for longer than 6 months, and other companies supply you with a spare attached when you first make the purchase. This place is insane, their prices are high enough that they should try to help customers and if they can't then at least pretend to be apologetic - rather than what they did to me. Super not impressed. I don't know if I'd shop there again given my experience.
The website specified it would get here a day before I needed it. Now it'll get here a day after. This morning I messaged them and they said they cannot do anything until a tracking number is issued. Now that it is they're saying they cannot do anything because it shipped. Their customer service is unbelievably awful.
I received a coupon for $40 off of a purchase with no mentioned stipulations. I then got a 10% off code for my birthday. I successfully stacked these to buy two sleevless shirts that were buy one get one half off. The total was around $10. The order went through, and I got confirmation. They cancelled the order the next day with no explanation except to say that if I tried the order again online, it would not go through. I assume that they didn't like the deal I got on their incredibly overpriced clothing.
I bought two acrylic-blend sweaters from Talbot. Both pilled in short order; one had not even been washed once. I got no satisfaction in dollars or otherwise from the store because, I was told, I hadn't complained within the required 60 days of purchase. Talbot's quality has diminished. It should stop using cheap synthetics and go back to the basics.
I order from Talbots on a regular basis. I recently ordered several items and one was not sent. I contacted company by email and never received a response. I spoke to "Yvonne", a customer service rep online and was informed this item was cancelled. I asked if they were going to notify m and she said they sent an email. They never sent an email. No apology, no trying to rectify the situation. She said maybe the email went to spam. Funny, all their other emails I get. Horrendous CS. There are plenty of other stores that would be happy to get customer's dollars and have good CS. Finished with Talbots.
I placed my order almost two weeks ago and, in my urgency, paid for overnight shipping. However, instead of receiving my order promptly, I'm told it hasn't even shipped yet. If I didn't need my items urgently, I wouldn't have opted for express delivery in the first place!
I am absolutely livid at the complete lack of responsiveness and accountability from Talbots regarding my order. It's as if my order number is just a random assortment of digits that their system couldn't care less about. I've reached out multiple times, but all I get in return are flimsy excuses like this that blame it on my ignorance about their policies:
"We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience on Talbots expedited orders. For Express, $18.95 the delivery carrier has a full three business days to deliver after each item ships out. The checkout arrival date for shipping is just an estimate, and is not the same as the actual email tracking expected arrival date from the shipping carrier. For delivery dates, and our shipping policy, you may refer to our website: https://www.talbots.com, or the link: https://www.talbots.com/shipping.html. "
But here's the kicker: not only am I stuck paying and waiting for an order I no longer need, but I'm also told it can't be canceled. That's utterly preposterous! It hasn't even left their facility, so why on earth can't it be canceled? And to add insult to injury, nobody seems to know when it will finally ship.
I'm beyond frustrated with this ridiculous system and the complete lack of customer service. There are too many quality stores with good customer service to put up with this nonsense. I will never purchase from Talbots or any other Sycamore brand.
So average now. Stores comfortable but merchandise no longer high end. Great decline in quality over the past 15 years or more. I yearn for the quality offered in the 1980s. Expensive but excellent quality fabrics. Now only a few garments fit that description. High prices are no longer justified. What a loss!
I am going to try contacting the State's Attorney Generals office. I had an issue with a car company and that worked well. At this point I just want my money back.
The quality of service and items from Talbots has declined steadily for years, but now it is really over. In store and call center employees are paid very poorly. Call centers are understaffed and the majority are located out of the United States, resulting in language barriers and frustrated customers. Call center employees quickly burn out with the rapid pace and low pay. The worst change, however, will see the end of the company. Talbots just joined Lane Bryant, Ann Taylor Loft, Chico's and more brands in a mega company called Knitwell. The Talbot's quality and service of years past will now decline more rapidly as we the watch the company lose their individuality and once elegant reputation. Loyal customers will quickly become just a number in a bloated conglomerate.
I have been a Talbots credit card holder for a number of years. I was trying to purchase some items and use my credit card. Because I am in NC at the moment and my address is CT it kept declining the card. I called customer service and was told that the ship to address had to match the billing address. If I wanted to place the order I first had to wait 24 hours and call back and see if it was possible to have customer service place the order for me no guarantee this was possible. It should not be this hard to place an order so I cancelled my credit card and will not purchase anything more from them. I prefer to work with a company that values my business not try to keep me from shopping and using their card. If I could give Talbots customer service less than 1 star I would.
Store 335 September 8,23 all clerks were helpful! Abby waited on me great customer service genuine clerk! I really like this store its product and much appreciated the service! For some reason could not do survey online so I am
On this site! Thankyou for everything service kindness, product and hours of availability! Joyce trans.6136
The clerks at this store on September 6 2023 in the morning were not friendly nor helpful. They did not offer to start a dressing room for me nor did they greet me when I arrived. My sister and I were the only customers in the store.
I was a bit disappointed by the color options for apparel in the recent fall catalog I received in the mail.
I've been a Talbots customer for many years.decades. I am a size 2, fair skinned with blond/gray hair. Talbots has always been a consistent option for me, even though I am now retired, and I am mostly interested in the casual clothing line.
The colors of this season definitely reflect fall… not the most flattering to fair skin blond types. There was not one model in the catalog with gray hair. Photos with dark haired models out numbered the fair-haired by 3 to1.
I am not commenting from a fashion perspective…not a political perspective…. But when you're blonde, or blond/gray….many of the cooler colors are not flattering.
I was also a bit appalled, that there was no representation of the older Talbot customer in this catalog. I understand utilizing a marketing approach that will appeal to a broader and younger customer base, but this was a bit blatant…. Especially considering the fact that…
In my local Talbots, most of the sales staff are older, and very knowledgeable about dressing women my age. Do you want to phase out your older, longtime loyal customers, I hope not.
I found a cute dress last year at your shop and thought I'd visit again. (I don't wear dresses often). I visited your store in Bloomington, Illinois on Tuesday around 12:15. There were 2 clerks on the floor helping one customer. Didn't say a single word to me the entire time and was there. Not even a hello. I spent about ten minutes looking around. Specifically for a petite size dress. I heard someone tell the other customer fall items will be in in a couple weeks and to check back. I don't think I'll check it out though.
It's interesting that your website goes into "we care, our mission, our mantra, our values…especially the we are committed to building relationships with customers blah, blah, blah.
I am over Talbots!
In the spring I purhased a pair of relaxed chinos; in khaki color and also purchased a blouse in pink--perfect for work, fit perfect. Perfet for casual Saturday dinner wear! PERFECT.
I went to the closet to check out size, style, etc to order for fall.
I just received the same items--different color pants and different color blouse.
Same EXACT style #'s (from past receipt), same exact size!
They arrived---neither fit the same.
The pants---the legs, they have cut by 1/2" in width from the spring khaki color. My navy for fall are SLIM but not described as slim! My blouse, perfect fit except in the arms--way too tight! They have cut 1/4 inch there! I measured!
So folks, stop cutting your product and increasing the price---we will SEND IT BACK AND NEVER ORDER AGAIN!
Folks, be warned! It's NOT THE SAME!
I had UPS SUCKS Beware of UPS as the shipper for any package from Talbots. I have had a package stuck in Canadian customs. UPS sent a snail mail notice of customs charges, then when I opened the notice on return from holiday I called to pay the customs charges, but was told that the package had been abandoned 30 days, and I would have to contact the shipper to get it delivered or to pay the customs charges. I did that, Tslbots had no interest in following up, the package is sitting in a UPS warehouse in Bracebridge and I can neither pay the customs fees or be reimbursed for the cost of the item. The package will be destroyed. Lesson learned, UPS is a terrible company to deal with. Talbots should switch delivery companies.
Customer service super star is MaryEllen at store 4417. She not only knew her clothing smarts but was truly customer focused. She knew how not to be nosy but still offer advice almost as a of she had known us and what looked best on us. NOT to just make sales but to have happy, good looking customers. She is a true asset. P.s.- she ended up with more than $250.00 sales for her store and that was after the sales pricings.!
She is a 5 plus star totally unlike her counterpart working the same time at Black and White. That lady was bossy and overwhelming. Not only that but had a "she knows best" attitude. Would even interrupt our conversations to let us know she knew more than we did.
MaryEllen is a perfect teacher for the sales people in the Talbot family. Which of course includes Chicos.

Proof of purchase trans 4971 but big buyer friend.I dont have her proof with me.
I have been a customer for many years. It was one of the few stores that I could get decent petite sizes. Recently I ordered 2 petite tops on line. Someone in the company decided to change the length of the so called petites that are now way too long for me. See the shirt I bought previously compared to the new one. I went into a store yesterday to make a return. The manager was rude and would not listen when I told her that the credit card account I used to pay was now closed. She credited it anyway. I called the 800 number to get help and they hung up on me.
Answer: China, where everything else is made these days. I don't think many, if any, of their products are made in the USA.
Answer: They are sneaky. Waited over a month for a jacket, returned it and a month later I asked where is my credit. They said they received and put a credit in my account (not what I wanted as I purchased jacket elsewhere) but never notified me they received and I have a credit. In other words, they just keep unsuspecting customers' money and never tell you. I will never shop there again (except to use my credit if I can't get them to credit my card hahaha)
Answer: I have never had an issue with exchanges. I have never requested a refund.
Answer: The quality of the clothes going back about 10-15 years ago was EXCELLENT. I still have shorts purchased then but they are now showing their age. Purchased similar over the last get years and while they are still $60 the quality is on par with perhaps Walmart
Answer: They are easy to reach and cooperative. They are responsive to customer's needs
Answer: They are a legitimate company and have been in business for many years
