My understanding is that Proxibid was recently purchased. Never had a problem when I 1st started using the platform. Now, overtime I win an auction I am charged sales tax. Even though I have sent them copies of my resale certificate several times. Most times they reimburse me but this last time they were saying that the auction house was local pick up only (it wasn't). And the charge was for shipping. Auction houses don't collect sales tax except for in house buyers. And they send a separate invoice for shipping when they know the costs. I know of several auction houses leaving for HiBid.com
Proxibid is all in to support auctioneers, but provides little/no help when auctioneers don't ship. Over 1.5 months since I paid >$1,000 for auction wins (3), and received NO shipment or correspondence from auctioneer Key Date Coins, despite me calling and emailing them MANY times. I left multiple voicemails (never go thru to an actual person). Notwithstanding, the auctioneer continues to have multiple auctions a week on Proxibid, so there must be SOMEBODY there doing something (besides ignoring me).
After contacting Proxibid to complain, and providing ample documentation of my frustrations, their response has been essentially to wash their hands and say "we just provide the platform - please continue to work with the auctioneer". How do I do that when they refuse to respond?
I have won bids where my high bid ends up winning but no other bids close to mine, then I pay more than I should have. It seems like on line bidders are at a huge disadvantage,
CS is for the auction houses and not the bidders who can see unfair practices right before there eyes.
Be careful and save your money from this poorly run company.
This is the only auction site where they seem to give sellers free reign to screw customers over in any way they please. Hidden fees tacked on and invoiced outside of the platform, items "passed over" when they don't sell for high enough despite not being listed with reserve, bids ignored, shill bidding done to run up any items with a prebid. The list goes on and on and the customer service is nonexistent. Have already had to issue a chargeback on an auction house that took my money and refused to ship or communicate. Proxibid does nothing and allows them to continue as long as they get a cut. Hoping they end up in a lawsuit involving one of these scam sellers.
Don't waste your time.
From what I have experienced, Proxibid is a scam. Bids are most definitely not awarded to the highest bidder at the time auction is posted to end. Instead, the bid time is extended...more than once...in a transparent attempt to generate a bidding frenzy and drive up the buyer cost. You suck!
Proxibid charges a fee to use their platform and offer no services in return. Will not hesitate to block a buyer for no cause and refuse to help a buyer if an issue on the buyers end arises. They get 3-5% fee per item, no cap. It should be illegal for them to take so much of our money and not be obligated to give service. They will have you send detailed emails to the dispute department and they never respond. When you call back in their response is not our auction/ item, not our problem. We've bought a lot from proxibid in the last 3 years, I'd recommend you buy from Equipment facts, Level, hi-bid or the auctions directly before Proxibid!
Okay I have no real proof but it does seem that too often I lose a bid at the last minute to "onsite buyer" No way to check if it is legitimate. Sure makes one wonder when my highest bid is higher than the estimates and well above the other on line bidders but yet suddenly an on site buyer wins.
Recently I bid on 4 items using Proxibid, all 4 ran up to my maximum bid overnight while identical lots remained unbidden or at minimum. Proxibid did retract my bids after contacting via email but I now realize the same thing was done to me at a prior auction that I didn't catch.
When Auction Houses are to send invoices thru Proxibid. You have several days to pay.
After the first invoices, Proxibid aloud access to my credit card and was charged the times by the same Auction Houses.
Proxibid customer service just said that they cannot do anything. You have to contact the Auction House. This the second time this happened. I had to file a complaint with another State Attorney General office on the first one. Still no $$ or merchandise.
There will not be a Third Time, I canceled my account with Proxibid.
Purchased a few items at a local auction( work auction of uniontown pa)! Everything was fine except 2 items that I was outbid on in the final minutes was on the next auction they ran! Since I've written reviews and they were pulled about workauction, also contacted proxibid and they allow this bidding and encourage it! When your the winning bidder and you are told you was o er bid to see item listed as passed? Bad business on both sides. Now auction is over you never see those bids again but those certain items bud up really didn't sale but back to seller! Bs scam
Answer: You can end up winning the item anywhere between your initial bid and your high bid. Very often we see the pre-bids are outbid, especially if there is a live onsite crowd. Best advice is to put only the amount you feel good about paying and not a dollar more. When you can, participate live. Not only is it fun, but you can enter your bids as the increments go up. Always be sure your computer is working, close things you do not need running in the background. Also, keep in mind if your max bid is 500, someone onsite might win it for 500-dollars and you are outbid, even though the dollar amount is the same. This happens when you are the highest bidder at 475 and the last bidder happens to be someone in the crowd at 500-dollars. In those cases, it might be good for the person running the Proxibid application to know that you are a max bidder for 500 as well, so they can fight to get your bid in first, before an onsite ringer beats you to it. At that point the onsite bidder has to outbid you for 525, if that is what the increment still is. When you are live online it's really a lot of fun and probably makes much more sense, especially when there is audio, what is going on and why you might be paying your max. If you ever feel treated unfairly as an online bidder, contact Proxibid and also contact the auctioneer for whatever company you are using and ask how you ended up at your max. Hope this helps! Proxibid is supposed to be a fun, easy and enjoyable experience.

Answer: Daniel C., Thank you for using SiteJabber to reach Proxibid. Proxibid is an online platform that allows Buyers and Sellers to connect and purchase highly valued items ("Listing(s)") via several selling formats including, but not limited to, live and timed auctions ("Event(s)"). When an individual creates a buyer account ("Buyer"), they must acknowledge and agree to the Proxibid Unified User Agreement ("UUA"). Listings on the Proxibid platform are managed by separate business entities ("Seller(s)"). When a bid is placed by a Buyer on a Listing, the Buyer enters into an agreement with the Seller via the Seller's Terms of Sale ("ToS"). Each Seller will have their own way in which to accept payments. Some Sellers do in fact take PayPal. To make sure a Seller's Event you plan to participate in accepts PayPal, we suggest that you review their ToS or contact the seller directly. We hope this information answers your question.
