I bought the Nomad grill for my partner for xmas. The grill is great, no problems with the quality of the product. 2.5 months later, I got a bill from FedEx for ground shipping fees of around $230CAD (almost half the cost of the grill unit). Surprised by the bill, I reached out to Nomad as I recalled paying an additional $50 shipping fee at checkout, but didn't receive any further information or warning about hidden shipping fee expenses. A customer service representative then tells me I was supposed to read the FAQ section on the website to learn of hidden customer duty, taxes and shipping fees that may occur, not at the checkout. Upon further reading the FAQ section, Nomad offers a $100 discounted rate on outbound costs -- see "Do you ship internationally" -- but when I asked the customer service representative if they could honour this for us considering the extravagant additional costs, silence. I've reached back out 4 times over the past month and have been completely ghosted.

I never would have bought the Nomad if I knew I would have to pay $300 in shipping. Overall, this experience has left a terrible taste and I definitely do not recommend this brand to anyone outside of the US. The non-existent customer service is just salt in the wound.

A reminder to read FAQs before a purchase... or perhaps Nomad can do a better job of sharing this information at the checkout (like every other product that provides shipping).
