Many times I have been over my family genealogy. Just when the tree is finished a new root pops up. I guess the tree is never going to stop growing. I could not tend my forest without My Heritage. I am an arborist sometimes. I find an inconsistent root that needs moving. More times than not, new shoots are discovered by the Heritage genealogists some where in the news, or in an archive. I wish someday I could figure out how to make the tree branches look pretty with a leaf here or there and still be readable.
I just discovered the photo dating feature, so I tried it out. At first I thought the date was off, but I went back and matched known birth/death/marriage dates, and the estimated date of the photo is better than my estimated date. I'm going to try it on un-named photos to see if it can help me identify the individuals. What a GREAT FEATURE! I also tried your AI application on a brick wall, but that didn't work well.
I am amember of several DNA research sites and find that myheritage.com is the sest of all. I don't have to worry about my details being sold and am not pressured to take health surveys likethe others. My Heritage is the most helpful in my research and has many helpful extra tools over the other sites. I am 100% satisfied with myheritage.com and use and store all of my research on the my heritage site.
I found it a bit hard to get my head around the workings of this program at first. However, after a few mistakes here and there it all came good. Very exciting in fact.
The many sources of historical records make researching my family's ancestry so much easier and enjoyable. I am currently approaching 2700 relatives spanning 8 generations, many interesting facts have come to light.
Still waiting for test results before I rush into print. Keen to start, but am overwhelmed by advice and clues etc about people who are really the ancestors of a woman somewhat distant from me by marriage to a younger member of my family. Interesting yes, but not right now. And my husband's known ancestors keep flooding in also. We've got all that already. Right now I want details about my own immediate ancestors who are somewhat elusive at times. Thank you for the amazing work you do though.
PS I cannot change the date below. It is 11 Feb here in New Zealand right now. Half gone already.
Has been enlighten to find so much about relatives and the history attached to them, use all the resources from My heritage as it can only improve your understanding of your family tree, have found unknown cousins and are now in regular contact
Overall, Going back into my history has been an awesome experience. Hasn't been easy to tie up loose ends on some occasions. Happily, with the help with hints etc and another site the transition has been very rewarding. The only downside is the price of renewing subscriptions when you know "the end is nigh" and there isn't much more I can add.
The cost of full membership, about £230.00 per year, is maybe 50% more than I am prepared to pay.
If I was using it 3 or 4 times a week doing good sessions, then maybe it could represent decent value.
Unfortunately, I might use My Heritage once a week, probably only 2 or 3 times a month, which is my fault, but I do not have the time to put the input in to the system, due to my time being taken up by my grandchildren duties.
For someone who can devote their spare time researching information, and thus finding results, it probably is good value, but for me, I am only a part time player and therefore cannot get anywhere near value for money, unfortunately.
It's interesting to find who you are related to, it does go off on branches that I really AM NOT INTERESTED but overall, I enjoy it very much, its learning experience, fact checker is good at questioning people, dates, places.
The more I use it the more I like it, it goes out further than I would like but than it's a tree
Answer: My issue was the automatic renewal without any kind of courtesy reminder prior to the effective date, as other businesses do. Advising one year in advance is a poor business practice. When I contacted them immediately on the renewal effective date, they refused to cancel and offered me a 25% discount. They eventually gave me the full refund but it was due to me turning it over to AMEX to resolve. I do however agree with the advice to base your renewal on your own personal experience.

Answer: If you are looking to get as many connections to your tree that you can, use My Heritage. If you want flexibility in who is added to your tree, use Ancestry.
Answer: Dear Jonathan and fellow users, In regards to the FTB not working, I may have found a solution, please follow these directions. Please right click on the FTB icon on your desktop, and click on 'Properties': Once you have opened the 'Properties' menu then click on the 'Compatibility' tab: If the field "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" is checked, and it says below "Windows 7", uncheck the box. Please let me know if this has solved the issue.
