This is not the worst government site I have seen, but it is close. I don't know if it does any good to review government sites, but it is worth a try. Visually, the site is not too bad, though the text is WAY too small and even without an official evaluation I can tell you that there is not enough contrast for it to be accessible to people with visual impairments. The number one issue with this site is organization. If you don't know where to look for information, you are NOT going to find it. I was searching for data on special education statistics in the state of Michigan, and finally just bailed to a straight Google search. It took me into a page on the SOM site, but I would NEVER have found it by surfing through the site.
I am quite web savvy, and can get what I want, usually, if it is out there. But this site is BAD. This site SHOULD be the very definition of accessible, for everyone, regardless of web skills. Frankly, it is useless to most Michigan citizens.
