I bought a coupon. Merchant refused to honor it even though it wasn't expired. I emailed and asked for a credit of what I spent. Company sent me a link to 33 pages of a consumer protection law but no credit or refund. Said the case was resolved. Don't buy from these scammers.
Update: Michelle in Customer service emailed me that she had called the merchant and told him it was the law that he had to honor the certificate until the expiration date and that he said he would honor it. I went in yesterday and redeemed the certificate but I will not buy from Local Flavor again. I have upgraded my rating to 2 stars. It was a lot of work to get satisfaction.
Tried 4 times to buy a coupon to the local Dairy Queen. Entered credit card info 4 times and it kept going back asking for payment even though I got the check mark for payment. Hope I don't get charged 4 times. Will call credit card company. Tried their customer service LIVE SUPPORT. Waited 15 minutes NO RESPONSE. These people are not legitimate. Even lady at Dairy Queen other customers stated they have had problems. Don't take the chance.
They sell coupons to restaurant that won't take them...then won't give you a refund. Took about a year to get reply from them
I tried to use Certificate at business and they wouldn't honor it.I called local flavor and they told me basically too bad. So I was out my initial investment.
I needed to merge 2 accounts and couldn't get anyone to call me. Once I got the manager Michelle F, she said she couldn't merge and then deleted the wrong account and was extremely rude about it. She not only made that huge mistake, but she refused to fix it by giving my certificates that she deleted back to me. Only offered a refund! Those certificates were no longer available! They need to find someone that represents the company better or just close up!
I purchased two restaurant certificates from them, and then the eating establishments closed. They were very unhelpful when the computer did not allow me to use the site credits. Even had a neighbor and friend try to help. You can never get a live person to resolve issues. Stay with Groupon.
Tried purchasing a deal and had errors- reached out to Local Flavor and had nothing but rudeness come from Michelle. I did not appreciate her attitude, and don't believe she is well suited for a customer facing role. My card had charges on it, yet no voucher ever went to my account. Save yourself the time.
Bought a coupon for $20 for $40 worth of food for a place in Toms RIver NJ - Roxy's Bar & Grill. Their doors closed on and off since the purchase and recently they have been evicted by the building owner for never making a single payment on their lease or paying their employees for months. When I requested a refund for the $20 they said you're only due $15 here it is and we are closing your case. Now at this point it wasn't about the $5 it was about their disgusting attitude and customer service. When I politely questioned it the response was read the fine print. When I followed up I got this response from someone who calls themselves Supervising Manager Michelle F "My name is Michelle, and I am the Supervising Manager."
"First and foremost, why would you think you are entitled to anything more than what you paid? Second, all promo code disclaimers state that they have no cash value. Before assuming we are doing you an injustice, you are now advised to read your fine print and all disclaimers on your promo code emails. Also, be aware you will only ever be provided a credit or refund for the amount you paid and nothing more! Your feedback has been forwarded, and we are now considering resolving this issue."
She along with everyone else who communicated back have been disgraceful. They also continue to sell the coupon now nearly a month after the eviction notice has been posted on the door by the township. Their response "is we need to do what we do until we're able to verify they no longer exist - we can't worry about that". Praying on suckers who will buy it trying to support a local business but who will also lose money in the end. Oh and there is no fine print on the coupon that says you will take a lost, it does however say Paid Value $20. Attached is the coupon and the eviction notice. Michelle my dear you should find another job more suited to your talents, customer service isn't it, same for the rest of your organization.
I bought a coupon for a lunch place that I wanted to try. The restaurant was excellent, but this site's IT infrastructure prevented the merchant from honoring the coupon. This scam business actively chooses not to have a dial-in number for questions, and they will avoid your chats when you ask for live service. Fortunately, the restaurant itself accommodated me out of pity. I gave them a giant tip to compensate. You may not be so lucky. Buyer beware, stay far away!
Restaurant I purchased a voucher for didn't have anything on menu that met my dietary restrictions, but customer service refused to help or credit for another place. Then when the menu updated it was a day passed my voucher expiration (I'm in California where the paid value never expires) and the restaurant wouldn't honor the voucher but local flavor still wouldn't credit me or issue a refund... they are a scam and provide zero customer support and just tell you to pound sand.
A bunch of thieves. I am a business owner, I worked hard taking on clients for free. Local Flavor was supposed to use this money to advertise my company, which never happened. They scammed me out of thousands of dollars. Stay away from them!
This is a one big scam. Clients came to me for skincare services, we redeemed voucher together and I never received any money from Local Flavor aka Clippers Magazine. I contacted them and made complaint about situation, no call back. Customers are still coming to me and I had to tell them I will not accept any coupons from them. I called again asking to take my name out of their website, I don't want to make any business with them and few months later...nothing changed. They still making money using my business name. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!
I received the local paper with this site advertisement so I went to the website to get the deal the paper said they had and it was available so I added to cart and tried to check out about 8 times, changing my information each time since it said payment error has occurred. Then I tried my husbands card about 5 times. It shows the boxes as yellow if I autofilled them with my info so I retyped everything as they were highlighted yellow. I checked my account to see if I was being charged, nothing showed up. Then I tried making an account and that was t smooth either. I finally gave up. The next day I see a $1 charge for each time I tried to submit payment. I reach out to the terrible customer service and they said, " the deal was not available. You attempted purchases on deals that were showing available because the system, which is not real-time, did not update. Every single time you hit submit, you were authorizing charge, hence the $1.00 holds.
We have obliged your request and the account is now closed!

Supervising Manager
LocalFlavor"
So I'm posting this review to save someone seeing this the frustration, time, and money. Thanks
Accidentally marked my voucher redeemed when trying to validate it by phone. Support would do NOTHING to help me said it was on the business to request a reversal. Business tried 5 times to contact the support team NO ANSWER! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH LOCAL FLAVOR!
I have used Local Flavor about 20 times in 2 years. Recently, a voucher didn't work at the location. I watched the merchant scan it on the Local Flavor app and it said it was expired. However, Local Flavor told me it was cashed in. I even went as far as showing them my receipt and that I paid cash for my order that day. I was called a liar 3 times and asked not to email them again. I was also given a remark of " If you dispute the charges, we deal with credit card companies every day and we will win the case."
They have no sympathy or care in the world for unique situations. The store closed down within two months of buying the vouchers and they won't let me get my money back. I didn't want anything else and they gave me a credit when i did not ask for it and don't want it. The supervisor michelle is such a liar and so nasty. I Can see this company going down really soon due to that and their "policies." Horrendous!
My husband and I went to use a certificate for The Gourmet at Kenilworth.
When the server came over, I told him I had seen Fish and Chips on their website, but I could not seem to locate it on the menu. He simply took the menu, pointed to the left bottom corner, said it was there, and it was $17.00 - so we ordered two.
Imagine our surprise when the server told us that the restaurant denied the certificate because we did not order an entree. I was shocked that because Fish and Chips at $17.00 was not listed under Entree but Light Fare, they would not honor the certificate. I am sorry, I think paying $17.00 is an entree price. I agree that I missed For Entrée Only, but I thought we were ordering an entree
When we sent a message to Local Flavor, the denied our request for a refund or another certificate to use somewhere else. I wrote again and this was their response:
"While we hear your frustration understand this information (For Entrée's Only) is not only part of the certificate language that you failed to read it is part of the fine print language on the deal before even purchasing as well.
We understand that You feel "Fish and Chips' Should be an entree however it is indeed a light Fare in this establishment and we have no say over that!" While we are sorry to see you go we are happy to obliged an account closure if you indeed no longer want this account." So much for customer service.
Needless to say, I have closed my account at Local Flavor.
If you're able to access one of their coupons (you usually can't), they're invariably "sold out". This is bait and switch of the worst kind. Local Flavor has no way to be contacted so I suggest you contact the businesses that advertise in Local Flavor and tell them you will boycott them because they advertise in a scam mailer.
I'm sure many people have got coupons that worked. I purchased one for a popular restaurant in our area and it wound up being good and only 25 miles from my house. I tried to get a refund or exchange it for a local restaurant but could not find a way to do it. Tried calling phone number and its disconnected. I can't even find an email to contact them and from past review sounds like they don't do anything anyway. I am within the 14 day period to get a refund and by the time I figure this out will run out of time. Good luck with your purchase just triple check everything and hope for the best.
You have no way to get ahold of this Company that You spend money with. Businesses went out of Business and I could not get ahold of Local Flavor to get My Money back
Bought a voucher for one of the local restaurant in March, 2020. Pandemic hit and the restaurant was temporarily closed. I called LocalFlavor, asking them to maybe give me credit for the amount because no one was sure when things will get better and voucher may expire.
Fast forward to 2021, things gets better (voucher is expired), I went to restaurant and they refused to take the voucher at Paid value (forget about promotional value)? Called Localflavor and they said, they cant do anything.
So someone has my money but i didn't get the service. Localflavor refused to help at all and only thing they say is, vendor should take the voucher (i thank them for this rubbish response).
Stay way from this scam.
Answer: Unfortunately it looks like their customer support is shut down or closed with no answers. I had to go to my bank to reject the transaction and get my bank to refund our money for the invalid certificates.
Answer: The number they have is bs as the whole company is. Most merchants say they were tricked and claim they get nothing. This is why merchants often are refusing these vouchers also. Have fun trying to get refund on anything. They were decent early in but not now. Stay clear of anything with these guys...
