A great site to start with lots of free project patterns and basic yarns. Helpful customer service team to match up yarn weights and colors. Review community is spot on with feedback about yarns and photos of projects. Frequent sales offer decent prices on yarns. It's key is to buy enough yarn for an entire project, as sale yarns are often discontinued. They lose a star for inordinately long handling times before shipping.
I placed an order for about $40 for eight items. I received stuff that was completely wrong. Now I have to pay the postage to send it back. That's right. I pay to fix their mistake. I'll bet they want me reorder and hope that this time I'll get the right stuff. I'll never order again and I'd advise you to buy from someone else. There really should be a way to give a zero rating.
Love Lion Brand yarn. So many options and all great to work with for a great price. However DO NOT purchase from lionbrand.com. Joann fabrics carries a great stock online, Michael's, any mom and pop yarn shop...that's the way to order. I'm not a fan of Amazon yet would order through there before going through to Lion themselves. I've ordered several times through the years and have finally decided to stop. 9 times out of 10 it will take two weeks just to ship order. Currently I'm waiting on an order that was placed 15 days ago and is still not shipped.
They have great deals, just terrible turn around time. Consider them when you're stocking up only and not when you're looking to do a project any earlier than a month out.
Similar problem with them as others here. It is a shame that a company won't back their own products. I ordered a kit through them and no problem until I started crocheting with the Vel-Luxe yarn and didn't even get to row 6 when I noticed the velvet was not there... just string! No customer support at all. Ship it back at your cost when their product is defective! Seriously! I will not be doing business with them any more either. If I could give them zero stars, I would.
I placed an order with the company which was lost in transit by the courier (Evri). They have completely ignored my multiple emails asking for help tracking the order, or for a refund. The customer service is non-existent and reading the reviews I am not alone in this. No idea if the yarn is any good (since I never received it) but I would urge any fellow knitters to avoid this company like the plague, especially since reading the other reviews shows that I am not alone in this experience.
I am so disgusted with this company! I placed 3 orders back to back paying shipping on each one! I tried to contact them to put the 3 orders together but they did not respond! Now I've received a customs bill! I will never ever deal with this company again! Shipping and duty ended up costing me more than the yarn!
I ordered a kit including pattern instructions which due to a technical problem on the Lion Brand's website was not possible to download. I contacted them 6 times via email and they never got back to me. The main reason why I purchased that kit was because it was supposed to come with a pattern to follow which then I never received and due to the shipping costs it would not have been convenient to return. Like other people, I also wrote a negative review on this issue on their website which was never published. I will never buying from them again and I'm not recommending anyone to buying from them. So unprofessional and disappointing service.
I recently placed an order for around $80 worth of supplies. A day after placing my order I received an email stating that my order was cancelled and refunded. I did not request for the order to be cancelled and have still gotten zero explanation as to why it was cancelled. I will stick to in person craft stores after this bad online experience.
I purchased a knitting kit from Lion Brand. 2 skeins of yarn were missing from the kit. I have sent emails and called. No one answers, the phone, so I have left messages. No one calls you back! No one responds to emails. Stay Cleat!
I accidentally hovered over the submit order button and without even clicking it, they submitted my order. I immediatley looked for a "cancel order" button, and there isn't one. So I emailed their customer service and keep getting a circular BOT email. UGH. This company sucks.
Answer: I'd say the equivalent sites are Yarnspirations.com and JoAnn fabrics. If I need extra yarn & they're out of stock I check ebay.com, Hobbii, Ravelry.com and lastly, Amazon.
Answer: It's definitely legitimate. I've been buying yarns from them for over a decade.
Answer: The availability of color, yarn weight & price. I compare them to Yarnspirations.com and JoAnn Fabrics.
