I've been interested in such services for a long time, because I also want to save a little money and still get exactly what I need.
Besides, the books here are really new and beautiful beyond belief.

I love half price books!
December 8, 2020

The price is true to its name. I can get a book for literally half of the price at a big bookseller. They also have things like shirts, videos, music, stuffed animals, and cool bookmarks! I also enjoy that you can sell used or unwanted books to them.

Canadians be aware.
January 13, 2023

Had been searching for the past year for a particular book. Finally found it on Half Price Books CANADA. There was no indication the price was other than Canadian currency. I ordered the book. I asked if the price was in U.S. dollars and if it was, to please cancel the order. Of course it was evident they shipped the book without answering. Went from $33+ to $63+ Cdn. Never again will they get my business.

No book was received, no refund was given
January 5, 2022

$22.51 seemed like a good price for a book; for a tracking number? Not so much.
When the book didn't arrive as reported per the tracking number, I submitted a request for help online. There was no response.
I called the 800 number and talked to a sympathetic customer service rep who had no power to help me.
Because I actually need the book, I ordered, again, from a reputable seller, who happened to have the book on sale for $22.08.
In the end, I've paid $44.59 for a book with an MSRP of $26.
Doesn't seem like a great deal, does it? Next time, I'll just start with the reputable seller, even if the quoted price is a bit more.
I realize that this is a useless endeavor, but yelling into the abyss seems preferable to sitting quietly while being screwed over by HPB.

Very helpful staff at Half Price Books. I asked them if they could hold a DVD TV series for me while I ran to have lunch with my husband rather unexpectedly and they said it was not a problem. The gentleman at the counter said he could hold it for up to a week in case I didn't make it back. How nice! They have a great selection of movies (old and new), TONS of books covering a TON of topics... AND they can usually tell you if they have something in stock and find it for you on the shelves. I just cannot say enough about this place. I've been to both locations in Lexington and one of the Louisville locations and have found they are all helpful and have great deals on lots of stuff!

I absolutely love Half Price Books!

The website has been updated recently, and it's a lot more helpful now. You can finally see what books are at what store so you don't have to necessarily go there to look on the shelves or call in and wait for them to look. I don't think you can look at the entire inventory of a certain store, but if you are looking for something specific, you can hit a drop-down button to see which stores that item is in.

And since the website also includes other sellers, you get kind of an expedia.com system for looking for your stuff. Often times the other sellers have better prices than half price books. And often times, the prices online differ from the prices in the store, which they explained is because the online prices use an algorithm to adjust their prices to other prices around the internet.

In any case, I'd say check the website before you head to a store if you're looking for a specific thing. You'll have an idea it will be there, and you'll have an idea of what the prices will be.

Quite expensive.

Nowadays books have become quite expensive.
And I think it's really great that you've made these particular products more accessible to every customer.
