The problem with this service is even if the recipient fax is busy it counts as a free fax because they say "it uses system resources" - which it does - but maybe 5 seconds for a one page, no cover sheet fax? Plus, it could queue the fax for later attempt.
As the name suggests, this Web app lets you send free faxes, without a fax machine. There's a heavier-duty paid version, but the free version should be enough for most folks not in business. You can send up to 3 pages in a fax, and up to 2 faxes a day. You get free cover pages also, and there are no ads.
Unfortunately, this site facilitates outgoing faxes only. I'm not aware of a source for free incoming faxes, aside from trials. (eFax still will enable free faxes for its basic customers, but will currently accept only paid subscriptions.)
I tried faxing someone through this site and realized that it is superior to most free fax services and sites for the U.S. and Canada. They have international options but the US and Canada is their primary focus. I love it and just wish I had known about it sooner. They have paid options for bigger faxes as well. I recommend this as the best free option out there and urge everyone to try it instead of keeping a fax machine.
I've been using this service periodically for months. A time saver for getting data faxed in tight deadline conditions. The software is easy to use and has always worked flawlessly. GotFreeFax is unbelievably efficient. And, for multiple page transmissions, the cost is peanuts compared to competitor brick and mortar outlets. Try them. I tried sending a fax twice today. It tried very briefly then said it didn't go through because the line was busy. I faxed after hours the second time to avoid this. I'm not sure this service works. I'll keep trying twice a day, but that's not very efficient. Each time, I have to enter all the information and uploads rather than resend. So far, it's disappointing.
I've used this website and paid and it's much cheaper then going to fax places or your local store no hidden fees no unknown charges you pay what you send and if it's under the amount documents it's absolutely free thank you GoFreeFax your the best and also bookmark the website for future faxes!
This process does not get any easier. No ads, and our fax was sent quickly. We got fast confirmation and regular updates.
It's a fine free service. Highly recommended.
Just bought some prepais faxes so I did not have to bother with the email step. But if you just need to get a fax of and do not have A FM theese guy's are great
