Where do I even begin? The app/website is filled with freaks that love to ruin everything that exists. You can't search up a single thing you like without scrolling down enough to see some mentally deranged person giving a character enhanced body parts or fetishizing them. Not only that, most of the characters they draw are children and they make up excuses saying stuff like, "My character is 18!" just so that they could get away with being a freak. For example, fetish artists are always praised for being disturbing for some god awful reason. If you were to confront a fetish artist for being inappropriate or shaming them for making something so bad that it should be considered illegal, somehow YOU will be seen as the bad guy. I know cyberbullying is bad, but these fetish artists are clearly asking for it. Let's not forget the fact that the degenerates there can't take criticism since they see that as hate. Also, the website is just filled with AI slop. Throughout all of this, I think it's agreeable to say that all fetish artists should get sent to an electric chair. If you ever want to destory your mental health and get PTSD, Deviantart is the perfect place for you.
I wouldn't even dream of recommending this site to anybody, here's why. It's filled with toxic, abusive, pretentious and malicious people, some like to project personal life problems on you and expect you to bend at their will, so they can get whatever they're missing in life. What I went through with a group of "friends" on there was nothing but psychological torture. The first one imo was jealous of me, and therefore would start arguments, falsely accuse me, turn the others in the group against me, played mind games with me, suicide baited me multiple times. The 2nd one would be demeaning, abusive, degrading towards me. The other one in the group was fine with me and out of nowhere suddenly got hostile and aggressive towards me, I think it had something to do with the first one. Got spam noted 75 times and sent nonstop messages pressuring me to get online. After that i deactivated, checked the abusers account afterward and saw they made a journal falsely accusing me of lying about being busy. This nonsense went on for several years, nonstop. If you cherish your sanity and self worth, stay off this site, staff won't do anything, blocking doesn't work since they can make another account. Be warned deviantart is a lair for cyberbullies. Stay far away from this site and find something that has a less toxic community, or atleast staff that cares about this type of behavior.
Corrupt art scam site stolen 24/7 a case every three weeks minimum that said quality of images doesn't matter when the theft & consumer numbers are dwindling at an all-time high compared with CA daily theft no wonder no consumers buy your premium art its a reason why your past drop rate has gone below 20% & is never above 40 unlike 2024 please be $#*!s I can't wait for more widespread suffering with high tariff good luck being incompetent & I mean all scumbags that lack labor laws go burn down obviously after poor companies are 100% bankrupted in the economy it will target well funded nonprofits they shall liquidate within a few years after big lease buildings unironically your next to say good bye great job $#*!s!
Chock full of Ai images (they have their own generator), users generate mass amounts then SELL them as 'adoptables' or though subscriptions akin to Patreon. Some users just run the Ai-filter over existing models from defunct modeling sites then claim they created the model, or don't even list Ai in the description or tags. You can report a maximum of 5 images before the option to report disappears. Many images and even fan-fiction stolen from the internet & posted without credit, and underage girls with the caption 'depicted as 18'. Site could use a good FBI scrubbing.
Okay so this is a long rant of experience. Its gonna have some advice as well. If you are a active member of deviantart you might wanna read this.
Alright so regarding the forums. I think everyone needs to hear this, this is overlooked at times. In the forums it can be unpredictable at times. If you're new to using it please be aware, there are many trolls in the forums. Doesn't matter what topic or what side of the forum your in the trolls are always there. They will reply negatively, for no reason. Do not give them a reaction, dont go to their accounts and leave comments. Move on ignore the comments they cannot hurt you unless you give them a reason too. Block them, if you can. (I dont know if mass reporting works for this situation...) If you try to report trolls deviantart will tell you to block them they wont do anything about the troll. So block them and avoid them.
Art thieves are rampant on deviantart. Be aware it happens to anyone on the platform. I'm a victim to this, happened to me on several occasions. File a DMCA claim to get the art taken down.
There are many creeps on deviantart. That like to use people and fend on users. Please be cautious on this site. Lots of things get overlooked because moderators aren't doing what they should. And sometimes they like to use people to draw very inappropriate things. Doesn't matter the age either. Dont open requests because you could attract these types of people.
I dealt with many nasty users while on deviantart. I seen users defend art thieves. Drawn cp posted that should've been removed. Many users who were groomed by adults to draw fetish porn for them. I've been trolled, and attacked by many people. I was featured in a journal where someone told users to go after me. My watchers didn't care about me being bullied. No one on deviantart is your friend remember that. Deviantart is unpredictable, dangerous, and very notorious for being a terrible place.
Lots of questionable things are going on, on this site. So if you plan on joining you better be prepared.
Forgot to mention I seen moderators respond to trolls and took action on users. But they ignore actual complaints and reports that need to be addressed.
I seen someone get stalked on all their social media by a troll. Deviantart mods did not do anything to this user at all.
I watched someone continue to steal art and no one did anything or wanted to do anything.
This site is filled with very terrible people.
I think it's time for serious artists to leave deviantart. The place isn't what it is to be. The site moderators do not care about it's users. Bullying, art thieves, drawn cp, and many other questionable things are going on there. It's a huge mess. The site is filled with porn, legit porn and fetish art. It's too far gone at this point.
If you plan on joining stay to yourself. And be safe, please be safe. I say this as a adult now, I've seen many things go down on this website that stuck with me until this day.
There was once a point where I'd frequent this website and I could find community. Nowadays it's a shell of its former self - drowned in AI generated content that the new staff fully enables, ridiculous and unwanted changes to the website nonstop with no attempt to discuss these changes with the community beforehand. Recently, they've hidden the cheapest option for their premium membership to force the users to pay them MORE. You can work around this stupid change by finding a direct link to the old purchase page...?
They've also removed/hidden specific and seeming random features with no announcement or without acknowledging any questions about it, such as a statistic page in your earnings that shows you the total amount of money you made on days that you've made sales. This website is a mess, don't bother with it if you truly value art.
I had spent over twelve years on DeviantArt and I must say that it is absolutely a nightmare now than what it used to be. What was once a fun and entertaining website to be on as I eagerly enjoyed daily usage, now I dread having to even sign on to see what garbage has decided to bother me now.
If it's not the bot followers I receive, there's always either some fricking underage kid or pedophile fetishest adding innocent artworks to their dirty collections. I despise what this website has become, absolutely no control over the amount of garbage users have been joining in recent years (i.e., the bots, kids and pedos) posting terrible half-attempt drawings that provide no value.
To make things worse, DeviantArt now supports A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) "art" on its platform, as well as forcing a paywall on an important feature like "2-Step Authenticator" is only available for Core users.
What has become of this website? It's practically on life support at this point.
This website is actually impossible to navigate, full of fake art made by fake people to profit off of gullible children, and also benefits and supports a literal new age genocide! DISGUSTING! DO NOT USE!
I've created 3 Deviantart Core accounts. All 3 have been deleted by the moderators without just cause.
Over the years, I have enjoyed looking at fan art drawings of various cartoon characters. But in recent years, my enjoyment has been tarnished. Sites like this one have members who have screws loose, and show off their dependencies of their personal crutches, making me feel guilty about my own art, giving me fear that I would be too dependent on my own personal crutches. I occasionally can also get upset about how some cartoon characters are used in some of these pictures, hurting my interest in these characters. That is why I have fun creating new characters of my own these days, to get my mind off other people's art and characters. Also, as a result, I can now see why it is a bad idea for someone to continue someone else's creations.
They support Israel's genocide on Gaza. Check the United Nations website(ohchr. Org without the spaces) for more info
They just gave ai "art" a Daily Deviation (Basically they promote an artwork on the site to others) dA has been sucking the soul of the site and everything about what the the old dA was all about. Not to mention some people's profiles are bugged out and can't edit subgalleries after creation.
Site built up on using your desperation and dangling carrot of hope to make you upload and create free art they then ignore and somehow still manage to monetize.
All these 'artist' websites are all barely a step above bb message boards, no matter how many flashy badges and useless trite they pile on top. Terrible database, terrible search functions, we only care about new and hot and popular, undiscovered shows you popular art anyway, groups are narcissistic pools of nothing which you have to beg to get into, and in return you get ignored like everywhere else...
Save yourself the trouble. It's all a scam and a shil, every single one of these communities. You'll get less trauma and anxiety from shovelling dead bodies into a mass grave than dealing with this. Predators preying on desperation and using false hope to keep you a punching bag. You'll sooner make it selling art at a bus stop.
Thank you, DeviantArt, thank you for making the life of a common artist as painful and miserable as is possible.
1st a buddy got his art swiped by a klepto called medek1 who put his CR on it, then he got kicked 4 complaining. I went & ULed stuff 2 show medek1 was swipin stuff from others, THEY KICKED ME OFF CLAIMIN I'M A SPAMMER! Went 2 appeal, they say 2 log in 2 continue but ya CAN'T LOG IN 2 APPEAL!
Then ya got s***loads of artists getting kicked 4 nothin while they let pics of naked kids stay up, wantin a link 2 another site 2 prove they're kids!
SHUT EM DOWN!
A week ago, I joined DeviantArt and created an account under the username "seospecialist," reflecting my 15 years of experience as an SEO specialist. Additionally, I shared some of the website-related artwork I had created. To my surprise, I recently received an email from DeviantArt notifying me that my account has been suspended, accompanied by the brief comment "spammer" from the administrator. I am genuinely perplexed by their decision and find their lack of respect and decency disheartening. It is crucial for them to learn to value their users and make more informed judgments regarding account management. I feel dehumanized by their treatment. While I understand that spammers pose challenges, it is unjust for me to bear the brunt of their frustration. It is disheartening when a platform fails to treat its users with fairness and consideration.
I sometimes spend my time checking out the new art on sites, but on this one I can't scroll an inch without being bombarded with fetish porn of characters.
Not only that, but thanks to the site promoting $#*! like this, I can't look up some characters without one of the first things I see being a fetishized version of them!
Some aren't even adults, I've seen inflation and vore of straight up children!
The only reason I remain on the site is for the genuine good art, but even that might not be enough, I would never recommend this site.
I'm a young woman with an orientation difference, and I'm full of talent, in writing, music, and drawing. I've joined this site after learning internet safety, which I didn't know much about before getting my new laptop for Christmas last year. Thank god I've learned internet safety, recently. So many users have gotten themselves into trouble, for harassing, threatening, or beating teens down. Taking advantage of them. I'd say if you're an adult it's okay for you to join the site. If you are a teen, please get off the site. It's not for children under the age of 21. Those are the rules.
But on the bright-sight, I've gotten many favorites for my grim-reaper and the gray alien I've drawn. I still plan on drawing more to come, and I really love the black with the sparkles on the core membership. It makes a good-wall paper, including the snakes, and skulls.
Deviantart is disgusting. I started visiting this website when I was a kid and now that I'm older I realize that it is not acceptable. The rules are nonexistent and there are creeps everywhere. I like some fetish art but recommending underage characters is unacceptable. You can scroll down in the comments and see what kind of sick people are using this site. Reporting does basically nothing and most of the time it won't let you report because it says it was already reported and the moderators said it was acceptable. Also they shouldn't have kids and adults on the same site. I say steer clear and don't let your kids on this site.
I was a user on DA for five years it was on this site that I first started writing fan fiction which gave me the confidence to write my own works I feel what killed this site wasn't just the fact that the owners became greedy but also they allowed trolls to attack other users in January of this year my account was closed down due to trolls currently beside focusing on building my following up with my writing I am also looking for another site like DA this site used to be a safe haven for artists writers and photographers but that was before wix decided to use it to make money. The trolls now rule this site
DeviantArt is a very toxic website and is full of fetishes. Even though DeviantArt has a setting where you can disable mature content, some fetishes will still be uncensored. There's also lots of p_rn on this website as well as lots of perv_rts in the community, so beware of disturbing content, especially if making a YouTube video on DeviantArt!
These people claim that they are open to all art. I've had an account with them for about a month. I've posted some art work and the next day I get a notice that it was a violation to their "sexual terms and service". It's my 3d character clothed posing that's it. After reading through the terms several times I see nothing that violates the terms and service. After trying to contact and ask them if it can be pointed out, I get no response, and the only response I did get was a bot. Now its at the point where they are making excuses and calling a "etiquette policy" again reading through it it has nothing to do with what's in my photo, there is clearly worse things on that site than what I posted and that stuff has not been taken down. I'm currently looking into new sites that are modern and supportive being a paying customer for that account I should NOT have to fight to keep my art work up. Whoever runs this site needs to give it up to someone who knows what they are doing.
Answer: They not care cyberbully
Answer: I've been on dA since 2009 and have already lost so much business due to the layout changes. So many previous customers are jumping ship because of how bad the website changes are.
