Born A is so accurate. As I posted before the phone I purchased was good for 10 months and then blacklisted. People are allowed to sell their phone to you and then call the company and say it was stolen. Buyer beware there are scammer on SWAPPA for sure.

In the event that there is a dispute and the funds are returned, swappa still takes their cut. I will not use them in the future.

Swappa is a pro seller site and collects the buyer fees and seller's money up front. They do not get involved with disputes but refer you to PayPal to try and get your money back. I went through a lot of stress, lost sleep and spent even more money on return shipping, certified receipt and signature to ship back a water damaged phone that had what appeared to be battery corrosion in the SD tray and a severely scratched screen. I found out that the seller was also selling the exact same type of phone on EBay too. Luckily PayPal sided with me, but I am out return shipping, gas, time and peace of mind. The seller had photos on SWAPPA with a lot of reflection on the screen and no pictures of the serial number where the water mark is and nothing about any identifying numbers. After being called a scammer by the seller who acted like he didn't receive my money and stated that he forgot he was selling a phone on SWAPPA; I found out it wasn't even his PayPal account that received my money, it was a female with a completely different name, that he attached to his SWAPPA account. SWAPPA is no more "safer" than Craigslist, only Craigslist doesn't charge a buyer fee and you can see your purchase up front. EBay is my first choice for never having issues with returns or refunds and Amazon is my second choice with very few issues. SWAPPA is simply a site that charges a finders fee for allowing access through their site to purchase other people's electronic devices.

Not safe. I wasted a month trying to get a phone, first phone was stolen, second damaged, luckily with PayPal I was returned my money. Afterwards every comment I posted was deleted by moderators. I wasn't finished completing transactions before they claimed my transactions were finished. It is a site that favors the sellers not buyers. My reviews were all deleted and seller continued to receive good ratings. Shady company! I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy. Do yourself a favor find a local phone fix it shop with a good warranty. I found one that did 90 days free warranty and I actually used it for a damaged port at no cost. You can actually see and hold the phone you are about to buy. And if you purchase or buy a stolen or blacklisted phone you can go straight back to the store and deal with a human. I have bought 2 phones this way and have never been happier. Don't get me wrong I love online shopping such as ebay, but swappa is no ebay!

I've bought 2 phones through Swappa. The first phone worked great, the second phone didn't. I tried everything to get the second phone to work, I told the seller within a couple days I wanted a refund, instead he made recommendations on how to get functions to work. It took a month for a return and Swappa does not assist buyers who use phones on different carriers. Swappa's customer service sucks, I had to go through Paypal to get my money back.

Safe as it can be

As other's have said, ebay with it's buyer protection is safer. No site is completely safe. That said I no longer user swappa after their flippant response to my issue.

You can see my review above. I will never use them again. They are no better than craigslist in my opinion.

Hi Neisha. Swappa is quite safe! Please see the 500+ reviews on this site referencing the safe and pleasant buying experience that is Swappa. Please email help@swappa.com if you have further questions. Thanks for using Swappa!

This site is a total crapshoot. Whether you get paid for what you sold or get what you paid for is up to individuals involved in the transaction, not swappa. Swappa takes no responsibility for anything other than collecting their fees.
