Almost every company out there wants users to tag their photos, facebook, google, flickr... they do this to organize the photos and allow them to become indexed. The value for the user is that now they also can locate their photos and their friends can find the photos too. Stipple has a great idea of making what they call dots on their photos and their system of tagging is far more robust and can be tagged anyone on the internet. Even more important is the revenue stream the user can generate if they tag their photos. If someone blogs about a celebrity and they happen to be wearing designer jeans in the photo, you can tag that specific part of the image and provide a direct link to buy that pair of designer jeans. I suspect it is only a matter of time before they can do this for video as well... then we can finally say goodbye to TV commercials and product placement will be all over the place.
