Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage is significantly tarnished by numerous customer complaints, primarily centered around service delays, unfulfilled commitments, and unexpected price increases. Many customers express frustration over the company's brokerage model, which often leads to subcontracted services that fail to meet expectations, resulting in damaged or lost items. While a few reviews highlight positive experiences with the moving crew's professionalism and care, these are overshadowed by a pervasive sentiment of distrust and dissatisfaction regarding customer support and transparency. This suggests a critical need for the company to enhance its service reliability and communication practices.

Terrible Customer Service
December 23, 2023

Buyer beware don't use this moving company
They are broker out the broker takes your money, and then forgets about you, and then you are left in the transporters hands the underbid my project by 58% of the cubic square footage and double the price upon arrival the actual two individuals that showed up were great workers but unfortunately they work for a very poor company. The person in charge of transportation doesn't even listen to you when you're talking to them and trying to explain what's going on and states all kinds of BS to back them, trying to rip you off. The broker was based out of Florida. I don't know where the transporter was located but the paperwork is titled Allied transportation and that used to be a reputable company so I don't know what the heck happened to them after the drivers arrived I tried to contact the broker and my phone says that the person you trying to call is not reachable another words once they get your money you're cut off from the broker so you're only form of contact is now the transportation team the broker was told from the very beginning that I was only paying by credit card of which they charge me 3.9% to use my credit card and took my deposit the transportation team only takes cashiers checks money orders it was a terrible day and because of that I'm now not going to be with my family for Christmas so once again, do not put yourself through this headache and do not use Allied transportation or Allied van lines
Save yourself the hassle and use your local companies. There are local companies within 60 miles of almost everywhere. Beacon United Horizon. Whatever you do ask if whoever you're purchasing your service from is a broker you don't want to do that go direct. I hope this comment saves someone else time energy.

Fraud!
September 19, 2023

You tell them size of apartment, go over inventory size they set a "good price deal", you sign and pay. The day of moving the truck gets here, the driver starts counting everything and tells you its over! How?When you already discribed everthing over the phone. Then tells you a ridiculous price over the roof. You say no! Imposible! He then asks you oh you dont want to do it? You want to cancel? You say no I can't pay all that money! He calls the company and tells them I want to cancel. Then you ask now what? He tells you ohhhh you have to call them I dont have anything to do with them, they hire me, and then just leaves! You are left lost and still with mouth opened unbeleiving the situation. Then you call the company for them to tell you ohhhhh there is nothing we can do, you already canceled you should of called us first! This is BS a SCAM! I had to find a storage and rent a uhaul and leave my whole home in a storage because that is the only thing I could afford! Its been 6 months since I moved back to Fl and I am still paying a storage in Colorado Springs with my stuff! I live in an empty apartment with my husband and daughter cause we still can't gather the money to do a moving of our stuff! Please don't fall for this Company its a total FRAUD!

Don't use them
September 2, 2023

They are a brokerage, not a moving company. They sold our job to another company. And they kept our furniture for one month. And when we finally got it, it was all wet and moldy. Also by the time we got our furniture the price had tripled.

DECEIVERS
July 15, 2023

My nightmare started 7-22-22. Southern Guarantee is unscrupulous. Paris should get an Academy Award. They charged me to $1435.86 to make a call to a crafty moving company that charged me $7,000.00. Speeding Moving Company LLC from Clifton NJ then took over with the abduction of my entire life's belongings. They held my possessions for 30 days. I was in a new city with absolutely nothing. When they brought them, they were encompassed with mold. Everything I owned was destroyed in one way or another. My furniture and many items went straight to the dumpster. Brand new items went in the dumpster. There were many items they never brought. My brand-new washer and dryer were destroyed. Photo albums were missing. When I contacted moving claims, they were not willing to accept everything I sent them. I was suspicious when one of the movers suggested calling the claims company. This was told to me after I became irate after seeing my items destroyed and thrown around like garbage. A word to the wise, never mark your boxes with the contents. Also, file with the federal government at nccdb.fmcsa.dot.gov Call it what you will: you reap what you sow, what goes around comes around or Karma. We are only here for a short time treat people like you want to be treated.

BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!
June 7, 2023

Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage
BEWARE! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They have a policy that you have to give them an upfront nonrefundable deposit and that if you don't move in a specified amount of time you lose your deposit.
My 80 year mom gave them a $1400 deposit to secure her move from WA to FL a year ago.
Well, with the inflation and post Covid affects on the economy, she was not able to sell her home until now.
The company refused to honor or extend her contract as she went over a year slightly.
We feel they totally took advantage of a Senior Citizen and basically stole her money!
My mom is in the poverty level income and lives on a fixed income.
This Company was not even willing to work with her. We didn't want our money back, just an extension.
They said her money was forfeited and she would have to start from scratch.
Save yourself the frustration from getting ripped off by this company and go with Uhaul U-boxes instead. For half the price, no contracts and nicer more honest people to deal with. You can do the packing yourself or Uhaul has laborers you can hire for affordable price to help. That's what we did.

Southern Guarantee there is no guarantee!
May 17, 2023

Southern Guarantee will attract customers by giving less price quote. Once you agreed, they will divide the total amount into 3 portion and will ask you to pay the 1st portion. Once you paid, then that's it you are locked. On the pickup day they will charge way higher than the initial quote (2nd portion), if you ask why they will talk all these technical terms like weight, cubic feet, etc. Also they will start indicating the terms and conditions in the binding contract which you will not have any idea. Eventually you will end up paying more. During drop-off they will charge (3rd portion) for shuttle truck, and the distance between the truck and your home is more than 75 feet and many other rules and will charge you more. In my case the quote given for $2600 and I finally end up paying $5500. Another attracting they say is free insurance for $*******, don't think you can claim anything from them. Save your money by renting the truck by yourself and hire people for pack, load and unload.

To start, this isn't a moving company, it's a brokerage. They sell your move. After charging big money to make a bid firm, they don't stop the actual movers from ignoring that and extorting more cash out of you. There's NO COVERAGE for damage regardless of what they tell you. They will jerk you around, send you to several different claim companies, none of which are actually insurance companies and none of which can get you paid. This is before the actual movers also screw you over in this fashion. Suing in Florida is a waste, you'll never collect. Put these crooks out of business. They disassembled my $2700 refrigerator for NO Reason (it comes out of the house without this) AND then lost half the parts and left it in pieces in my basement. This is now a total loss. I figure I'm out easily $14K between overcharges, damage, and lost items.

Complete Ripoff!
April 10, 2023

This company is horrible! They perpetrate a typical bait-and-switch -- provide great rates on a "binding estimate" then tried to up the rate by 50% when they came to pick up the belongings. They did this to me twice (having first assured that the first time was a "misunderstanding"). I will be seeing them in federal court and, separately, pushing for criminal charges. In my opinion Southern Guarantee Moving Company is perpetrating fraud. I can't believe the government lets them get away with it. If I cold have given "zero" or "-10" stars, I would have, but SiteJabber doesn't allow that. I was told today (2/10/23) by the U.S. Department of Transportion consumer complaint line that they have received "more than 100 complaints" about Southern Guarantee within the past year, and that the company is currently "not authorized" to do interstate business. Before I engaged them I read general reviews, and they had a mix of favorable and unfarable that made them seem about average, but in retrospect I think any positive reviews were likley planted through it's own marketing department.

This company is absolutely the worst! I got a quote for a reasonable price which I should've know was too good to be true but going against my better judgment, I gave it a shot. Worse decision I could've made! Customer service was horrible, I spoke to so many different people and the guy that gave me a quote named "Jordan" never would respond back to my questions, it was like the closer it came to moving day the less I would hear from the company! On moving day, 4 men showed up to my house very well unkept and demanding mingling with even looking at my inventory, which I did not pay because I knew better! As soon as they entered my home they stated speaking to each other in Spanish which I couldn't understand so I asked the main guy what they were discussing and he literally said "Yeah, its gonna cost you more, you have mirrors and mirrored items we didn't know about." I explained to him that I discussed all this in my initial quote and in my final inventory check. Unfortunately each time I called or was called by the company, I spoke to different people each time so they had no record of the list we went over. The moving guy showed me the quote he was provided with by his company which was a different company than I paid my deposit to (I paid Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage) this was the last red flag for me! I called the Southern Guarantee Moving and Storage to ask why the moving company's quote didn't match mine and the guy I spoke with gave me excuse after excuse which ended up me asking them to leave my property and I was able to get refunded by my bank because during the whole process I had the bank representative on the phone and she could hear all what I was experiencing. Long story short the moving company that showed up to my house attempted to charge me double than my original quote and I wasn't going for it! I rented a moving truck, which cost me less! I highly recommend saving your time and money by not considering this company a total waste of my time!

The amount of times I had to call customer service and the amount of heartache, tears, and stress they caused me is not worth any "discounts," and "cheap" pricing they try to con you into. First, the Sales reps are ruthless and will lock you into a contract and pressure you to sign it then and there, later the price will go up and no "discounts" they offer actually helps with the price, everything ends up being the same amount of hiring actual movers. I confronted them about the bad reviews and bad scoring on the Better Business Bureau and they played it off like it wasn't their fault and that they were victims of cruel corporations and customers, when in reality they're the cruel corporation that is cruel to their customers. Skip hiring a broker, skip Southern Moving. They don't know anything about the movers they hire for you, they reserve the smallest cubic units in the movers truck that WILL exceed and cause more costs, and they're so uncommunicative and unknowledgeable about who they've hired for you and they genuinely just don't care about you. They're just after your money. If you hire them, you just better hope they hire a good moving company that will actually take care of you.

Scam
March 22, 2023

Do not go through Southern Guarantee to move - they are BROKERS, not the actual moving company! Contact a moving company DIRECTLY... this will save you a ton of money. The deposit you pay goes directly to the broker, NOT TOWARD YOUR MOVE. Also, there will be hidden costs... no matter how diligent you are in providing Southern Guarantee a true and accurate inventory. These companies don't communicate so if the moving company has different policies than Southern Guarantee, you have to abide by the moving company's policy... that's where the hidden fees come in. And Southern Guarantee DOES NOT disclose this. Oh they give vague reference in the fine print, but they are not communicative about ANYTHING when you are coordinating with their representatives. By the time you actually have an opportunity to read the estimate in its entirety, you are committed. They push you and tell you the "quote" they are giving you is only good for that moment. So you pay their deposit and think they are being up front about everything. They are not.
In addition, Southern Guarantee ONLY cares about the deposit you make at the beginning... after that they don't care whatsoever how complicated or expensive it gets because you either suck it up and pay or cancel the move and lose the deposit. I feel so sorry for people who have a very limited budget and get handed a bunch of extra costs with no recourse. The movers themselves were fine and are only doing their job... the real crook here is the broker... in this case Southern Guarantee. Finally - pay in cash! You will be charged a ridiculous fee to use a credit or debit card. Southern Guarantee will not tell you that... oh they will say you can pay with a credit card, but they won't mention the fees. Overall, this company is shady and unethical and just trying to make a buck.

Thugs & Punk Kids
March 19, 2023

We hired them for a long distance move last fall. Two young, thin boys were sent to my house. They brought in all these supplies but never used any of them, took all day for something that should have been completed in 4-5 hours, were rude & cruel to my dogs, the driver even gave my very friendly Yorkie a bit of his boot when she was only trying to greet him. Even asked me for ice water! These kids were not suitable for the job. Constantly on their phones & the driver was very aggressive. My moving truck was packed like a trash truck!

Getting in touch with them to get our stuff delivered was like dealing with pirates. They were late but we had to pay an additional $1,000 for delivery. Since they had our stuff, i didn't have much of a choice. They trashed our household stuff, actually left my husband's recliner in two separate pieces ON TOP of our other furniture, stripped the screws on my dining table & packed the boxes into our new apartment that we couldn't even walk into the rooms.

I didn't make a claim because I was tired of dealing with them & gave up, letting them win. They even removed the decorative top to a birdcage I had just to be hateful I guess, I'm not really sure of the motive on that.

Just terrible. This industry is obviously not regulated do its easy to get over on customers. People don't use cross-country movers frequently, at least I don't, so it's hard to know how to navigate. Please, please don't use this company. They need to be put out of business!

All reviews are are either 5 stars or 1 star? My experience with this company was negative. In my opinion, these 5 star ratings are false. Again my opinion. For every 1 star rating they get it is offset by a FAKE 5 star rating.
I hired them. I gave them cash. (BIG RED FLAG). They did not show up at the appointment. Then, they wanted more money after I reached out about the missed appointment. I asked for my money back. They said no. TOTAL SHAKE DOWN.

I had a horrible experience with this company. They quoted me a low price on a long distance move, based on estimated cubic footage of our belongings, and guaranteed delivery within five days of pickup. One week prior to the scheduled move date, they did a detailed walk through of the items to be moved, and increased price by $700. We agreed to it against our better judgment. On the day of the move, they said the price would actually be $2,500 higher, and that the delivery would be 12 business days following pickup. When we asked for them to simply refund our deposit, they refused.

Left us without any viable options for moving on the date we had to leave town. If I could give a negative review I would. The entire process from the quote stage was set up to be deceitful and dishonest, all with the goal of screwing us over on price on the move date. Avoid this company at all costs.

Used car salesmen of the moving industry
February 16, 2023

Southern quoted me $2800 for my move out of a storage unit. Had me pay $1400 in cash (they do not use credit cards EFT only). They put a lot of pressure on for me to paid them and "lock in the dates". The sales rep asked what I had and I repeatedly told her 10x10x6 storage unit. She 1/2 the space I needed, didn't explain that was what she was quoting. Then left her co-worker to tell me a week before our move that if I had 10x10x6 I would need double the space and my new cost is over $6000. They will not return my deposit. I had lower quotes from several moving company, but those companies didn't lie to cheat me on the space needs. I would have saved thousands if I had gone with one of those alternative companies from the start.
