Stephen Ridley breaks down musical concepts into simple, straightforward steps. If you complete the course, you will play melodies and chords. However, it would have been great if Stephen had given more instruction about how to vary the accompaniment using different styles / rhythms, or patterns of playing. Most students will be unable to figure out such things on their own.

It used to be that when I looked at a piano, I wished I could play it but fear of taking on something that difficult and time-consuming kept me from it. Then, I came across the Ridley Academy. Stephen Ridley's Master Course is fun and he teaches in a way that allows me to understand the process. It's so much easier to learn than I thought it would be. I don't fear the piano any longer. Instead, I'm excited to sit in front of it and make music. I've found it can be so healing to play piano.

Stephen Ridley is a force of nature. More importantly, he's a force that has added so much pride and joy to my life. I've kept up with his beginner piano program for five months and I'm hooked. Why? First, each class allows me to take on a small chunk of the whole of getting comfortable with the instrument. Second, his enthusiasm is infectious and I've definitely got it now, too. Third, I'm seeing real improvements every few days. I'm actually playing with two hands in a way that feels comfortable and achieving a result that sounds smooth.

I am a 74 year old semi-retired chiropractor who has wanted to learn piano for years. I finally have enough time to take on the project. I spent 6 months searching for the right on-line piano instruction and I am pleased to report that Ridley Academy has been terrific. After two months of lessons I can say that Steven Ridley is an excellent instructor who does a great job of inspiring as well as teaching. I am pleased with my progress after such a short period of time despite knowing absolutely nothing about piano just a few weeks ago. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning piano, as I have already done to several of my friends and patients.

The step by step approach of doing little but well and often is something you can apply in your life as general. Rule. Trying to do too much over a short period is a disaster.
Stephen therefore has made leaning music a child's play.
I have learnt more about music over last few months than over last 10 years.
As a guitarist and a singer I always wanted to progress in piano playing.
Strange enough I am at the same time progressing in my guitar playing
Classical approach is too complicated and Stephen's approach makes you progress in leaps and bounds
As a plus I love listening to his northern English accent where I spent part of my life.

I think the biggest thing to share here is that music is something I have always loved, but talent hasn't been something I was blessed with. I knew I had it in me, but could never get that to translate to my fingers. What this has done is break down why, despite lessons over the years and 3 different teachers including going to piano school, I could never learn. The "learning" part is what is the difference here. You will see why soon. Something totally different. This course breaks down the barriers that have kept me feeling stupid.

Stephen is an excellent coach. He came across to me as a very genuine teacher or rather mentor who is very interested in sharing his knowledge of piano music with his students. It is one thing to play piano well and another thing to teach people well. He did both of them really well from his heart. So if you want someone to teach you well, go to him. I am a songwriter and am always learning. I recommend him to you because you can learn something very valuable from him. He is enthusiastic and handsome too.
