On The Mat Martial Arts

This school was created by a world champion martial artist who also had a desire to learn as much as possible about children and their emotional, social and physical development. She has broken the program down by ages (3-4's, 5-6's, 7-9's, 10-14's) and the curriculum is designed around the type of martial arts activities that build both their body and their character. My oldest son started when he was 5, he is now 11. We started him in martial arts because he was very timid at school and we were searching for a way to build his confidence. By the time he passed his first belt we had a new child. The gym teachers at school could not believe how quickly his balance and coordination began to surpass the other kids. His teachers cannot say enough about his respect, self-discipline, and maturity. My second son has attended since age 3 and like most brothers, they are as different as day and night. On the Mat has been instrumental in helping my youngest develop focus, teamwork and self-control. He is now 7 and he will do anything to earn and keep the respect of his martial arts teachers. The teachers have a connection with the kids that happens almost instantaneously. As a parent, I have turned to these teachers for advice, help, wisdom, and encouragement. I can't imagine life without On the Mat.
