Model Mayhem is great! I've worked with it for years and have made lots of side gig money. Be wary of photographers trying to get free nude work. And minors should be supervised I think. But it's fun and can be profitable.
So I never really had an issue with the staff until I did. I notice a lot of complaints about Model Mayhem Mods and I can attest that it is very real.
Once you get on their radar it's over. I was a long time customer and have made many good friends via MM.
I got banned for this.
When I tried to ask why they accused me of having a fake account. I never had a fake account.
They are dishonest and manipulators.
Worst site ever... full of fake profiles, prostitution and homosexual paedophiles.
There was also an Islamic model who already did naked photos, so if you asked her to shoot nudes, she got angry because her religion didn't allow it... hilarious
The majority of the photographers listed have amateurish photos at best. I signed on as a model to do some unique projects with established, creative photographers, and so far i haven't found anyone even close to what i want. I had better luck cruising instagram. Nearly every job offered to me had no pay or some kind of weirdness to it, or both. I'm on the verge of deleting my profile; i've kept it because its a quick reference tool for when i want to show someone something i've worked on.
I was a member from the very beginning of Model Mayhem. Since it then over the past 10+ years it has gotten worse and worse. It's run by individual photographers who moderate who gets to use the site and who does not. They eliminate almost all new photographers unless they are buddies. My account has been closed and trying to sign up again is impossible. They claim to be protecting models from those who shoot nude content (unless it's them who is doing the photography of course). It's not a good place for models or photographers anymore.
Model Mayhem is a fraud. They claim to have over one million members. FALSE! They may have that many accounts, but many have not been active in over 8 to 10 years. When this is called to their attention, you are told that searches can be adjusted to any date of last activity. That does not change the fact that most of their membership accounts are dead links to models & photographers. Avoid this site unless you just want to waste your time.
I wish I could give ModelMayhem a zero.
I know that there are photographers on this site who take photos of valuable people who trust to quickly and the photographer is in no way to be trusted with the models safety and have the wrong motives for a photography shoot. To all the models and parents out there accompany your family member doing these photography shoots and put your guard up.
Basically other folks have said it all I'm just agreeing with them. The moderators turned hostile and wouldn't discuss anything. They cancelled my account without warning because I had a picture of a camera to let models know what I use.
This is the worst site to find Models. It's a horrible site period. Every month my account is downgraded for no reason. I have to go back in and reset up. They delete most of my photos each month when they do this. The site is so stupid when I try to send email to the help department it tells me my email on my account is invalid. Any email I try is invalid. The Models are very unreliable and slow to respond. In one 2 month period I had 3 no shows even though I had paid one. I ate over $800 in Studios that were wasted because of this.
In the middle of conducting business, and my site was "closed" with no access to previous contacts or deals that were in negotiation. No reply from them since the matter and no way to recover any of that data.
Answer: I'd look for updates on Ms. Cali Skye on a porn site... didn't see her on Model Mayhem...
Answer: Pretty much, same here... most of the folks I've met through Model Mayhem have been good to work with... 4/5 stars
Answer: ... ummmm... assume sour grapes and walk on by... or post your own testimony to counterbalance the inaccuracies... haters gonna hate...
Answer: It's a reasonable place to meet photographers... it is not a reasonable place to find fashion modeling work and agency representation... if you're looking to work as an art model, you will definitely have access to art photographers... yes, there are creeps - there are creeps in every walk of life... I like this site... it's been good for me, and I'm considering upgrading to a paid level...
Answer: Ok... near the upper right-hand corner of the screen, there is a longer dark gray rectangle... type the MM# in that blank and hit the enter key... Hope this helps!
Answer: Hi I would just search MM for location NYC and I think you can search based on blonde brunette etc and maybe height. I'm not sure because I don't search that way much. To find actual availability I'd pick some I like and message them to ask.
Answer: ... on each profile, there's an envelope icon... click on it, and it will open a message to that person...
Answer: Sounds dodgy to me... with only this info, I wouldn't do it...
Answer: This goes for both models and photographers. First, if the message you receive looks like it came from a Nigerian prince, just don't answer it. Next, compare the quality of images in their profile with the level of experience they are claiming in their bio. Next, actually contact the references listed on the profile page. Next, meet them in person for coffee. If no alarm bells are ringing, if nothing feels off, schedule a shoot. If something feels uncomfortable during a shoot, say so, and gauge what kind of response results. If anything feels iffy or wrong, more than merely uncomfortable, during the shoot, JUST LEAVE. To hell with the money, to hell with being "nice"... your safety comes first. Sure, there are consequences to doing this. There are consequences for every decision, ever. Make sure you're alive to deal with them.
