Thought it was funny when I wanted to limit processor and memory usage in windows 10. When I landed on this page makeuseof.com/tag/windows-10-faster-performance/ and my processor took off LOL

Also noticed these crazy connections going on at the bottom. I closed the site and all returned back to normal. Just letting ya know.

Useless garbage
February 7, 2016

I've been trying to sync my Google and Windows calendars. MakeUseOf.com keeps coming up with results but their articles are TERRIBLY outdated to the point of being useless. Not only this, but there is no way I've found to contact them to ask a new question or contact site support to notify them of their need to update articles. Clicking "contact" just refreshes the menu panel... "Ask the experts" took me to a page called "Answers"... How do you propose to answer my question when you haven't let me ask one, eh? This site is utterly garbage in my experience.

Oh, looks like the Contact link finally responded. Bully for that. Too little too late.

Everything I read and look at with make use of leaves me cold with this company. You cannot get a straight answer from them. What they offer is vaguely genuine until you start asking questions that they do not answer. Not to be trusted.

I'm not happy with makeuseof. I just read an article about Google Books and there was a link placed in the article that appeared to be for the Google books site. I clicked it and signed up. I gave my credit card info still thinking it was Google and I then discovered that it is something called czarmedia they want $34 per month. There's nothing free. I tried cancelling and they want $1 to cancel the membership. They probably make a fortune in cancellations. I'll be watching my credit card statements but what a pain in the neck that is. I'll never go to makeuseof again. It's a big scam.

Useful as toilet paper
October 29, 2019

Articles are badly written, and edited articles are hacked together and lose the train of thought while being unintelligible. I've seen kids write better on social media than this. Site doesn't have articles listed by date which makes it hard to find the latest stories in each section. Apparently common sense and normal layouts were not on the drawing board for their webdev. Site can be done better but they are content to perform on a sub-par level on all fronts. No trace of any collaboration or management to keep things on track.

Opinion, no facts
February 25, 2024

I have never seen sites as bad as this one that only states opinions instead of facts that make you "digest" instead of think. What I need is information of say, a feature, usage, and other comparison of Linux stuff for Windows (eg Windows subsystem for Linux). I seriously doubt that they even know their facts straight before they made their comment.

Once again, many thanks for your regular email. I have always looked forward to going through the article, that I find profoundly related to things I want to know about and plenty of the time put to practical use. Please keep it going and keep the flavour of the articles.

Spying on the behind the scenes lives of celebrities and stars. The difference is that our eavesdropping and peeking is not done through the keyholes but via the popular media that these stars and celebrities are a part of.

Buyer Beware!
May 6, 2015

MUO's tech info is often useful, but beware of their "deals." After a particularly bad experience with one of thie vendors, I started looking them up on Better Business Bureau and similar sites. Every one I looked at was rated "F" or, if unrated, had numerous unresolved complaints. MUO claims they "curate" their merchants and they can be trusted. That is either deliberately misleading or a fabrication. They also promote questionable software and services that pay them for the promo, so read carefully any disclaimer they post about an entry. Finally, they don't respond to emails asking for help or questioning their practices. As another reviewer noted, they seem quite arrogant. I will continue to appreciate their guides, but carefully. They are simply untrustworthy in too many areas.
