I used to be a repeat Magellans customer. I recently posted an order and received a product different from as described in the catalog. After paying for shipping both ways (including return), my refund was less than half of what I paid. I'll never patronize this company again.
I purchased online merchandise from Magellan's, charged it to my credit card account, then found an unauthorized "membership" monthly charge on my credit card bill. There was something obviously prechecked and I was never aware I had clicked something that triggered an automatic monthly charge going forward. I never even received any emails to let me know this was happening. This is unethical, and misleading. Be aware, and watch closely if you order from them. You could easily end up paying for something you didn't order for as long as you don't notice the almost $18 monthly charge that you never signed up for. I will never do business with them again. The website also states it's BBB accredited and when I check the BBB they do not show up. Shop here at your own risk!
I was wary after reading bad reviews, but I am very happy with my purchase from Magellan's. The products were delivered in a timely manner (within days of the order). The shirt, pants, and wallet all seem to be of great quality. I docked the review 1 star because we did not receive any emails to confirm the order or shipping. I had to call customer service and check the website to see the status of the order. Customer Service was friendly. All in all, this was a fine buying experience. I would use Magellan's again.
On July 26th I placed an order for compression socks, which I needed for a trip to Greece, which left on September 9th. I also ordered a pair of socks from Bombas (which arrived in a matter of days). After about a month, when I hadn't received the Magellan's order or been charged for it, I forgot about it, since I already had socks for the flight. On October 1st, once I'd returned home, the Magelllan's socks arrived. I immediately put them back in their package, applied the label provided and mailed them back USPS. When my refund appeared (3 weeks later) it was for $19.00, not the $31.27 I'd originally paid (which included free shipping). I was never given the option of paying for return shipping, which would have cost about $1.00 based on weight. When I checked their website it states that $10.95 will be deducted for shipping on return orders. They actually deducted $11.99. With all the merchants who provide free shipping these days, under the circumstance (waiting over 2 months for a pair or socks!), I feel like this fee could/should have been waived. But no. When I called Customer Service I got nowhere. So I will never be shopping at Magellan's or Travel Smith (same company) again.
We had placed an order for over $400 only to discover they had cancelled it without informing us. No email had been sent. They claim our address was incorrect (Amazon, Eddie Bauer and L.L. Bean all seem to find us with no issues) and when we double checked that, their next excuse was that our visa address did not match with their records and once again my reply was " all the other companies ship here on a visa with no problems." Finally I was put on hold for another 10 or so minutes and chatted with a "Level Two" person who also could not sort out the problem. After 4 phone calls and 2 promises of return calls I have given in. They win and we will never order a thing from them again. Too bad as we have loved this company in the past.
Magellan's product quality has gone from good to absolute trash. God help you if you try to return and get your $$ back.
I've been receiving their catalogues for years. Past products have been high quality. Prices are so high that I jumped on a 25% discount offer and tried to order three items yesterday. Round and round I went trying to place the order, website ignored the discount. The website is quite primitive, for instance, you click on an illustration of something you might want, and it just takes you to the general category. Sent Customer Service a message, no reply. The offer's only good for a day or two. Very disappointed.
My wife and I ordered about ten items totaling more than $400. Checked order status every week - always said "in process". After a month I checked the status and all items were listed as cancelled by customer (which it was not). Called customer service - all they could say was that the order was cancelled. No help what so ever.
I purchased online merchandise from Magellans, charged to my credit card account, then found an unauthorized "membership" monthly charge on my credit card bill. I was not aware I had clicked something that triggered an automatic monthly charge (over and above that of merchandise). I am viewing what they did, best case, as unethical, and worst case as fraud. Watch out when ordering from them. You may end up paying for something you didn't order. I will never do business with them again.
Their customer service agents are untrained, offer wrong information, put you on hold, and don't solve the problem. One actually told me that the company does not honor its own gift cards, which is why I can't use it on the site. Do not buy from the company.

Two bad experiences. I'm definitely done with Magellans. Ordered a "Hobo" bag for travel. Website gave dimensions of 14x9x4; what arrived was 11x9x4, so I returned it. To avoid delay, I ordered a much larger bag. I placed the order 16 days before our upcoming trip. With only a few days to go, the order was still "in process." I contacted Magellans. First they said we'd have it in time. Then, three days later they said, "We'll ship it tomorrow, but it wouldn't get to you before you leave." I suggested that since they had allowed the order sit for 11 days before processing, they ought to express ship so we would have it in time. Outcome: they refused to refund the shipping on the first, mis-advertised item, and, no, they wouldn't upgrade the shipping to get us our order on time after their delay. Just a shoddy experience. I'm definitely done with Magellans.
I wanted to buy a $200 gift certificate for a friend's birthday and I wanted to have a catalogue to include with the gift certificate. It was a nightmare. I was transferred three times and still no success. I do not understand why this should have been a problem and decided that I would not expose my friend to this kind of service so I have taken my business elsewhere
My son has been trying to get help his whole adult life and I've been trying to get him help since he was 14 and they don't listen to what your needs are they don't send you to the appropriate facility so you never get the help that you're supposed to today I tried to call and talk to three different employees one hung up on me that would be Miss Lisa from down south and she was like Miss Debbie and then there was an Alicia and she said she couldn't do anything because my son wasn't right there but he's in the hospital so he wouldn't be right here with me and then the last one hung up on me because she said I refuse to give her appropriate information when I was telling her I had the Social Security number she over talked me and then hung up on me I don't know what kind of a joke of insurance this is but if you're looking for mental health Magellan is not I repeat is not the insurance you want to get they have the worst therapist the worst psychiatrist and the worst psychologist. They don't care it's a shame that Keystone Mercy still on has them as their mental health on the card I am going to be contacting add them because if my son dies I'm going to sue every single person that I talk to and then you have to live with the fact that you work in a mental health facility insurance and don't give any Karma is a $#*!
I ordred 4 items from them. Took a long time to get them. In the meantime, when I clicked on check on my order in the order confirmation email it said something like, there is a problem with your order. The phone service was terrible too. I returned all of the items about 10 days ago and have not received a credit. After reading these reviews I see that it may take months before I get my $200 credit. I will NEVER order from them again.
Placed an order in July 2021, apparently was signed up for a membership, Membership turned out to be 13.89 a month. Noticed the charages a few months later, texted them as to why i was being charged, they did not respond. Called today and apparently you need to call to cancel the membership. No where on line on the website can I access a membership or contact them. Will not order from them again.
I received a gift and sent it back for an exchange with the card Magellan provides which includes the address where the items are to be shipped. I never received the requested items nor any communication and when I called to inquire, I was told instead of sending the requested items, they refunded the money to the account of the person who sent the gift. Their only solution was to ask the person for the money again so I could reorder a gift. When I was transferred to the supervisor and pointed out the embarrassment this would cause and the absurdity of not having a policy to return a gift, I was told it is company policy to refund the money to the purchaser because "How do I know you did not just take the package off someone's doorstep?" So Magellan not only did not follow through on my request for an exchange, they suggested I could be a thief! I would never use this company!
I had read the mostly unfavorable reviews for Magellan's, but decided to give them a try anyway, hoping the company had changed it's ways. Called the 888 number in the catalogue, and got thru to a representative after a short wait. I declined to give my credit card information until after I ascertained that all items on my list were in fact in stock. We went through my order and I was assured that all items were available and would be delivered within 7 to 14 business days. I told the rep, whose English comprehension was admittedly marginal, that I was concerned about the reviews indicating many customers didn't get their items as promised and weren't given refunds and asked if those issues had been resolved. The line abruptly went dead! I have to assume that Magellan's hasn't addressed their customer service issues and won't talk about them. I won't be calling them back to complete my $400 order and am very glad I didn't give them my credit card info at the start.
Returns take too long to receive a credit on your credit card. Item returned to them Jan. 3. It is now the 12th of February and still no credit. Their policy says up to 4 weeks for credit. That is absurd! I used to order from Magellan's and Travel Smith quite often but not anymore. Since they combined their ordering service is terrible.
I order a lot of stuff online and this is the worst. I have previously ordered from this company and something bad has happened to them. It takes more than 2 weeks for an email to be answered and the people who answer the phone are at a call center very distant from the company and just give you platitudes. There is no information exchange between the emails and phone calls. The company denied receiving my item for 30 days after they actually received it. VERY frustrating. If I could give zero starts, I would.
When ordering gifts for holidays I saw the other 2 sister companies had delivered my merchandise. I called Magellans after 10 days of not receiving any updates or even a tracking #. Cust. Service was foreign and she told me it shipped that day! Of course I asked why. She gave me a tracking # but when I put it in on UPS site it wouldn't register. Will not deal with this company in the future!
