Very disappointed and feel like I was ripped off. Placed my order and a promotion changed. I called to ask if they would honor it since I hadn't received my items yet. They said it has to be within 7 days. But they took longer than 7 days to get it back to me. They ripped me off $100. They should honor their own promotions.
I had multiple home movies on VHS transferred to digital. The digital versions I got back were horrible. They were impossible to watch. I contacted Legacybox and showed them what the VHS recordings looked like played on a VCR. The difference was tremendous. No jumps, lines, static. I asked for a refund and they gave me $24 back on a $240 order. I couldn't believe it. They did not take responsibility for poor quality of their product. Terrible customer service. Will not use again or recommend.
As a former employee, I feel a responsibility to warn people before they make the mistake of sending their irreplaceable memories to this company. I've seen firsthand how little Legacybox cares about quality or your memories. The bottom line? It's all about speed and profits not quality, not care, and definitely not your peace of mind. I still remember the day that we had a meeting to let us know quality standards were changing. I thought this was great, UNTIL I realized they were doing away with some of the quality rules that were in place, not trying to make the quality of transfers better for our customers. The extremely greedy founders push a quantity over quality mentality. To keep up, corners were cut, plain and simple. Here are just a few of the things I personally witnessed: 1. Photos scanned upside down or crooked? Totally acceptable under their new standards.
2. Dust or blemishes on your images? Not our problem. 3. Video tapes with tracking issues? Don't waste time fixing them, even if the footage was nearly unwatchable. 4.6-hour tapes with only 30 minutes of content? We'd run the entire tape, and you'd get hours of blank screen back. They told us to "ship fast and often." We were constantly pressured to meet unrealistic production quotas, and if we fell short, we were threatened with termination. Due to this, majority of my coworkers would often mark items in their assigned digitizing kits as "damaged" and not even touch the item. Didn't matter if it was actually damaged, or if it could really be digitized. We know that running that one tape will put us behind our weekly quota and we want to keep our jobs, to pay our rent, so we don't digitize it. And yes, you'd still be charged for it. You don't qualify for a partial refund unless majority of your order is deemed undigitizable. They built the system to favor themselves, not their customers. And the treatment of your actual items?
Shocking. I've seen entire pallets of priceless analog media dropped, damaged, and even lost. Yes, an entire pallet of customer orders vanished, and rather than own up to it, they misled the affected customers for months. This toxic, high-pressure work environment absolutely trickles down to the quality of your order. Miserable, overworked employees, standing for 8+ hours a day in a hot warehouse, rushed to meet quotas? How could that possibly lead to careful, high-quality work? Whenever friends asked me about Legacybox, I always told them the truth: Use our competitor iMemories instead. Please, don't risk your priceless family memories with Legacybox. I've seen what happens behind the scenes and I wouldn't trust them with a blank piece of paper, let alone irreplaceable photos and videos. Protect your memories. Look elsewhere.
They are great at marketing but that's a far as it goes. Don't believe their turn time promise. It's more than double what they say.
The Associate was super helpful, got a great deal. Now memories of our family will be saved and shared.
Fernando quickly sent email about my questions about cost of disc option for storage of digital materials
I was a bit nervous to send my tapes etc in just because what if they got lost or ruined. Well the total opposite happened. They kept me updated by email every step of the way from when they received them, if any of them had problems and they were all accounted for and to when I could view them. It has been wonderful watching all these old videos, as most of them I had forgotten about. They are especially meaningful as we lost our son a few years ago and watching him in them has been priceless.
I was happy with the service time, but then I received my movie! I can barely make out who is in the movie, the quality is unbelievably bad. I went from 8mm to VCR tape in the 90s which looked great, now to digital which I thought would be best. Thank goodness, I have the VCR tape back, but I pray they didn't ruin it somehow. I cannot understand how it could possibly look worse... Never use this company... buyer beware!
Thank you for reaching out. We apologize that our digital conversion did not meet your expectations! Our process is to provide a one-to-one transfer of each of your items as they play on our equipment, but we can review the files together to see what we can do to help. Please send your contact and order information to our Customer Service team in an email to questions@legacybox.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
If you listen to Legacy Box ads, don't be fooled. RUN! Our large order was rejected. They are understaffed. Minimum 12 weeks wait. Our order was around $3,200 dollars. Scan yourself!
Thank you for reaching out. We are so sorry that we were not able to digitize your order! We try hard to make the information regarding packing of the shipment highly visible for our kits. You can find it in the Help Pages of the website, and in the Welcome Guide that came with your order. If you’re still having questions about the order status or refund process, please email your contact information to our Customer Service team at questions@legacybox.com. You can reach us any day of the week!
I called Legacybox, because I couldn't figure out how to use a Groupon Coupon I had purchased. The customer service guy was awesome. He was friendly, efficient, professional, and knew exactly how to help me. Thank you very much.
I just reviewed my flash drive of my home movies. I'm heartbroken. They're so terrible that I might as well toss them in the trash. There's little to no sound. One of the VHS tapes is from 1962. Yes, that was a while ago BUT when my brother sent me the VHS and I put in my VHS player, it was so good - no hesitation, no bumps in the tape. Legacybox completely ruined it. It's mostly a blue screen and skips too frequently to view for long. Another thing I noticed they did was splice tapes together! One tape starts as a vacation video and suddenly it's a home video of my dog's training class. THESE TWO EVENTS WERE ON SEPARATE TAPES! Shame on them.
Thank you for reaching out. We apologize that our digital conversion did not meet your expectations! Our process is to provide a one-to-one transfer of each of your items as they play on our equipment, but we can review the files together to see what we can do to help. We don't actually combine footage from multiple tapes onto a single file, so we're very interested to see what is happening with your thumb drive! Please send your contact and order information to our Customer Service team in an email to questions@legacybox.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
We trusted legacy box to do a good job with all our family memories. I sent them $1000. They sent all my tapes back saying they had mold on them and they couldn't process them and they didn't refund a penny not even a penny and I took him to a local videographer and he said there's no mold on them. I basically got scammed.
I would not order from this company again. Each tape had about 1 hour and 45 minutes of recording. Only about 45 minutes to an hour of recording was converted. I spent over $500 and now I need to go back through each tape and convert the rest of the tapes again to get the full recording. This is a scam. Do not waste your money.
Legacybox is a terrible company! I sent in 2 separate orders and paid extra for the second one. They put both orders together on both flash drives. Thery didn't edit, enhance the video, or even cut out any blank parts of the tape. To add to it they transfer 2 blank VHS tapes to my flash drives as well. This company is a total joke, a waste of time, and no customer service what's so ever!
I sent in 4 VHS tapes in to be copied onto DVD... I wanted one DVD per VHS tape. Still don't understand their thinking, but I got 36 DVDs back and it was a jumbled mess. Trying to label and look for what is on DVD from tape is a horrific job. It could have been so simple... 1 VHS tape turns into 1 DVD... You don't have to be a genius to understand that. I am going to try this company one more time, but if I get the same results back, won't use them again.
Sent 11 vhs tapes, numbered. Got back 30 discs, not labelled or in order. Half won't play or are blank, can't tell. Very poor quality and color is way off on many.
We investigated our options at the end of last year and chose LegacyBox to digitize all of our family video's from Super 8 and 8mm. We never received our originals back that were shipped with the first USB. They replaced the USB with what they had, but lost our original videos of our children. They quit reaching out to us and will only reply with "there is still has an open claim with the USPS". LegacyBox never mentioned that the videos would be returned vis USPS or we would have chosen another vendor. This is heart breaking.
I sent some photos and 7 VHS tapes in December to Legacy Box. They kept me in the dark for nearly 5 months without any updates after my VHS tapes were received. Then one day I got an update they were ready to go and then later that same day they decided not to convert any of my VHS taps because of their condition (they all look clean to me).
They refunded me $20 for the 7 VHS tapes that they rejected, a far cry from what I paid. They claimed it was part of their handling cost.
I highly recommend going with someone local. These guys are terrible and will steal your money.
I understand it's hard to get help but had this been done correctly in the first place I wouldn't have had to send it back a second time to have it redone. It has now been 16 weeks and every time I call, they tell me they will put a rush on it, and it will be 2 to 3 more weeks. Well, that time has passed and now I'm looking at 3 more weeks which will take me into 19 weeks. I will never do business with Legacy Box again and will never recommend them to anyone.
This service turned out to be pretty bad. The time of turnaround for all elements of the process took longer than stated in their documents, and the communication during the process, especially after the apology for taking longer than anticipated, was spotty and inconsistent and had months of no communication at all. There were times during the process when I was unsure that my tapes were still being processed. The response to my complaints about these issues was turned back on me as if I had nothing to complain about and the service extension was an unfortunate reality that I would just have to accept. Only after complaining directly to management after two previous customer service contacts did I get 'bumped up in the queue' and my transfers were finally completed about four weeks later than the longest stated estimate time. To top it all off, the video files, once I FINALLY received the thumb drive, were two hours when the tapes were only one so I had to edit out all the dead time myself. Also, the resolution used for the transfers was horrible; these were HD videos, but the transfers were even grainier and more pixelated than the original footage. I wish I would have spent my money elsewhere to get this work done.
Answer: All Video and Film Transfers are done so at 480P. Additionally, we convert almost all consumer formats of videotapes, photos, film reels, and audio. Here's a full list of formats we can digitize: *Videotapes: VHS, VHS-C, S-VHS, S-VHS-C, Betamax, Hi8, Digital8, Video8, MiniDV, HD MiniDV, and MicroMV A note on foreign tapes: We can convert most PAL and SECAM consumer format tapes. The only foreign format we cannot currently convert are PAL and SECAM Betamax tapes. Just put a note in your box if you have a PAL tape. *Film: 8mm, Super8,16mm, and Super16 A note on sound: Since sound on film is so rare, and to ensure we're providing the highest quality transfers, it is not our standard process to digitize film with sound. *Photos: 35mm Slides, Photo Prints (up to 8.5 x 11"), and 35mm Negatives A note on photo packaging: When sending in your photos, slides, or negatives, we ask that you remove them from any extraneous container, group them in bundles of 25 and place them in clear plastic ziplock bags or envelopes. *Audio: Standard Audio Cassette Tapes, Mini Cassettes, Micro Cassettes, and 1/4" Reel-to-Reel Audio If you have any more questions, let me know. I am happy to help!
Answer: Legacybox sends everything back to you along with any thumb drives, CD's you ordered.
Answer: No. Just went through this with them. It's a "tough luck" and they keep your money.
Answer: Nope. They took 3 months to tell me an item was "damaged" and then told me their refund policy was 20% or more of the media damaged to give any refund.
Answer: Hi Judy, Great question! We ask that slides be grouped into sets of 25 (one item) either in an envelope or ziplock bag. We will provide small barcode stickers to apply to each bag of 25. Slides will be processed in numerical order, according to those barcodes. The order within each set of 25 is not guaranteed as there are alternate factors such as shipping where they could move around. The digital files are free from any copyrights so you can very easily re-order them however you'd like once you receive them back! Please reach out to our customer service team for the fastest responses at questions@legacybox.com if there is anything else we can help you with!

Answer: Hello Lowell, We are a 1:1 transfer company meaning what is on your original will also be on your digital output. We do not offer any editing or enhancements.
