Something's not right with this organization- too many recent applicants with great qualifications getting rejected for no real reason- did love the great backyard and in ground swimming pool in the backyard though- I'm sure the dogs are in it everyday - would give them a zero rating but you can't- the rating system makes you have to give at least one star in order to proceed
I adopted my two beloved beagles from Joyful Rescues (one in Dec 2022 and the other in summer 2023). Yes, the application is extensive, but once submitted, I was contacted promptly to arrange a visit. The facility is impressive and in a beautiful part of NY. The staff is friendly and helpful in providing thorough documentation for each dog. I am grateful for these lovely companions!
My husband filled out an application to rescue a dog because our beloved 12 year old golden died a few months back. He was denied- Unbelievable- what kind of a rescue is this when most applicants are denied for unknown reason. We have great jobs-a big home-over 40 acres of property-a loving family-5 grown children and big hearts to love an animal so what's the problem? We could give the dog a better home than they can? We would do a better job? We thought the idea of a "rescue" was to save the animal from being bounced around and made to feel unloved. We have chosen now to go to our breeder and get a pure bred animal instead of a rescue. How sad is that for the animal we wanted? Shame on the application screeners as I see by the vast negative reviews they obviously need different jobs. Wake up people- it isn't about you! Your rescues haven't got a chance. Hope you're proud.
My mother's application was refused for no good reason. My mom just lost our last family dog a few months back and just decided to rescue her next one. She got turned down with no reason given. Apparently joyful rescue would rather have a dog be homeless than with a loving family. Shameful
We adopted our new pup on Saturday and the process could not have been smoother. Joye and team were very friendly and knowledgeable. The premises were clean and all the dogs were happily running around in the big field at the back of the house. We have the most amazing new four legged family member and I cannot thank Joyful Rescue enough!
I have been looking for not one but 2 rescues, and after filling out a grueling application, no response of any kind. As a not for profit, you should look up business acumen and see what you should do in regarding either accepted or not protocol...alot of dogs are missing homes because of your fees, application crap. Btw I worked for my local humane society so i have 1st hand knowledge of what rescues are looking for in dog parents...your loss...or should I say the animals loss. Sad..
My fiancee is a HUGE animal lover, has a wonderful dog and cat at the house, and fell in love with a cat that was on their website. So she sent the application in, along with three reputable references, not only was she denied, but they never called ONE reference, AND wouldn't even offer up a reason why. When calling them, they were VERY rude and hung up the phone.
I would think that they would want to place their animals in a nice stable home with a lot of love, but my fiancee was denied for NO reason! Do not support them or use their services.
We never received a home visit, nor were our fully-documented, licensed, treated pets verified for any health concerns.
Despite every single one of our existing pets having had a veterinary checkup in the past six months, we were disqualified from adopting because of our alleged subpar veterinary care.
Call me crazy, but my pets receive their checkup up annually, and they also receive their shots once per year (two years for certain shots). They have two separate forms of insurance, which is more than I have as a human. They receive video checkups as a supplement throughout the year (in addition to their in-person checkup). We gladly pay for all their medications and prescriptions.
Additionally, the "foster" scheduled an appointment and no-call/no-showed. We reached out, concerned, but her phone was off (or we were blocked).
The agency later messaged us that we were unfit, although no one had informed us, asked us for our veterinary receipts, or even discussed their concerns.
There was zero communication.
Without visiting our home or existing pets, we were accused of animal abuse.
Talk about an absolute insane abuse of power! Yikes! Do not engage with these people, as they will threaten you without every having seen or interacted with your pets— let alone browsed their health records!
Answer: No phone number listed so you can not get a hold of anyone
Answer: They looked like a caring responsible rescue, until no answer on any application...
Answer: All of the rescue places I've ever dealt with have been extremely helpful, only having the animals interest at heart- Not this place- obviously
