Editfast

I had a rush deadline to meet and Robert Kidd of EditFast took my 30 page document into his magic hands and sent it back to me in an edited version and a clean version. I could not believe all the errors he found! I was a little embarrassed as I am a former English teacher. Robert went out of his way to accommodate my needs and I have the highest respect for him and for his editing abilities. A true professional.

The scam: He sets up 5 payments and as soon as he gets the job, you will never see another payment. So he diligently pays you the first two, pretending that he is legit and then never pays you again. The owner, Robert Kidd, is a nasty pathetic disgusting unethical dishonorable piece of crap. He was abusive when I tried to be professional, roped me into a nightmare job with a laughable story, lied about the size of the job, and sent threats and called me names when I asked him to honor his bogus contract. Real sick bastard. It was the worst experience I've ever had. Do not work for this man and do not give them any business. I can assure you it will be a horror show. I have no idea how this scumbag remains in business but I can only say that he probably never uses the same person twice. One star because there was no negative.

DO NOT WORK FOR EDITFAST!

Something is going on with EditFast and/or its owner Robert Kidd, and they have suddenly stopped paying their editors. I've been registered with the site for several years and taken on a variety of small projects during that time, for which I was always paid. Last year I edited two much larger projects and never received payment. All emails and follow-ups I've sent since have been ignored. I wanted to believe it was an honest mistake and I would eventually be paid, but after seeing the recent comments here and on other sites, it's obvious this is a larger trend and I wanted to warn others before they waste their time on work they may not ever be paid for.

I contacted a freelance editor on Editfast, but the person wasn't available. Instead, the owner, Robert Kidd, of said site contacted me and wanted to get the ball rolling as it were.

He was professional at first. Seemed like a decent sort, knew what he was talking about. I mentioned to him that I was cautious about my work potentially getting stolen, and he said he understood and asked that I send a two-page sample of my work.

I did as I was told, and proceeded to add that I have Asperger's Syndrome, a disorder on the autism spectrum. My intent was that if we were to proceed that I may not understand some of the more complex words of the business, and may ask for further clarification at times if were to proceed with him as an editor.

His tone immediately changed. Demanded to know why my full story was so short even though he asked for a two-page sample. I told him that I gave him a two-page sample as he requested. As soon as I started to back out of wanting to work with him, he started acting like I was the one in the wrong.

He called me an "imbecile" for not meeting his demands.

Avoid this site at all costs. Especially if you're mentally disabled like I am.
