Edgenuity

Edgenuity is a program that allows students to watch poorly made videos and answer obvious busywork questions. This is the extent of the platform's potential. The videos are essentially boring lectures with little to no attempts made to engage students in any meaningful way beyond someone deadpanning about a subject over still stock photos. Every single question I've answered on it's health program (NECESSARY in the state of California, by the way) has been a repeat of what I've learned, a exercise in even the most rudimentary of common sense, or essentially a process of elimination time-vampire. Never once has this program motivated me in any way to learn, only serving to exacerbate the most irrelevant and unhelpful parts of the modern US school system. This sentiment is shared with my classmates, as most of them either don't listen, don't watch or listen, or straight up never open the program in the first place, even when it affects their grade. The bloated, backtracking, incompetent word vomit presented as "lessons" in my units taught information already repeated to us in the past two years, which was essentially basic logic and responsible thinking which should've been taught to us in person anyway. Speaking of in-person teaching, even my own teacher stated he'd rather teach this himself than force us through this pathetic excuse for a learning platform. That's right, my own teacher would rather do extra work teaching some of the dullest material ever put to standards than put his students through the dystopian apathetic hell that is this program. If anyone sees this review and is considering this program for their class or child, listen to my words of anguished warning and know the suffering you will bring upon your student if you use this program. A far worse way to "teach" compared to a face to face interaction with a teacher in an actual classroom. No one (including myself) pays attention to these videos at all and usually sit on their phones. If you want to actually TEACH kids you need to sit with them in a classroom or do interactive activities instead of this slop! It is far more engaging for a student to be taught on a desk or through a project. From what I have also read it is out of date with lots of its information. I could not imagine having to do math on an awful app like this. Not to mention that bringing kids to school or into a gym to sit on a computer is pointless.

Edgenuity is not even a good educational application, they should honestly just shut down and call quits, nobody is learning anything the platform is a mess and even if you miss a day or something your getting a call from school saying your behind. Edgenuity just preferably needs to shut down or just sell the company and make the company better, the state of Kentucky-Tennessee should ban it not even lying.

Let me be straight with y'all. EDGENUITY SUCKS. In all my years of school (10th grade rn) I have never imagined that such a daunting mistake for an educational website could roam the internet till this day. Why the hell is this ( can't find a word bad enough) website not shut down yet?
Edgenuity contains almost pure outdated information. Not only is this educationally misleading but it can easily lead to fails despite the input of correct information.
The pacing. I was told that I could move on my own pace using edgenuity.
A lie.
Miss one activity and suddenly you are now 3 years behind ( jk not that long) but you should understand my distress. As an online schooler, I sit at my Chromebook from 9:30 till 3:30 ( most times till 4:45, but we just say 3:30 here) And during a dominant amount of that time I am listening to a teacher on a recorded video. Correction, an unenthusiastic and unengaging teacher. No flexibility. No interactivity. No redeeming features. Stressful work load. Mandatory work. FIXED PACE. Edgenuity markets it's self as fun, interactive, and engaging.
Another lie.
I wish this educational site gets outlawed by the federal government of the United States.
Please, if you want enjoy school, edgenuity is a bad road to go down on.

I'm in my senior year, and I am riding on my ability to take extra classes with my online school to be able to graduate (the pandemic cause many disruptions in my education causing me to fail several classes). In first semester, my school was using ck-12 which is a great program. Unexpectedly my school switched what program it used for our classes. Edgenuity is outdated, clumsy, and genuinely a downgrade from my previous program. Unskippable videos that are anywhere from 2-10 minutes long full of info that doesn't even mach up with the question or lessions most of the time. It has genuinely mad me hate learning.

I rather fail the whole year, than sit here and waste time on a program that doesn't teach! You're telling me that even if I miss one day, and don't do my schoolwork, I can fall behind! I have been working with this program for 8 years, and I tell myself I need to leave this school each year! You know why I haven't because the teachers are good at their job! It's the Edgenuity program that is the problem! I wouldn't even waste your time with this, I would just cheat if I were you or use a different program entirely. I'm about this close to making a report to our State's School Board on this matter.

This is way to boring. Students hearts are always broken, and you really wont like doing this. ALso, this really does not have any helpful things.

Teachers don't understand the subject, "correct" answers on quizzes are often incorrect, can't even hear the audio from half of the videos we need to watch, teachers talk in an extremely degrading way while not explaining anything, scheduling forces you to stay behind on classes if you need to take a test, answers to questions on tests are often not covered in the class. These are extremely common complaints and nobody has done anything to fix them since it was created. I learned more from watching 6 hours of math youtube videos than an entire math course on this terrible website. If you wan't to do this to get ahead for school during summer or something, then I recommend you use a bot skip through the assignments and learn on youtube instead, it will be a much better use of your time.

Edgenuity is literally a disgrace. I had to do it for summer break and I went on vacation to 2 places, and I still had to do edgenuity. I did the 7th grade accelerated math course and I literally felt like smashing my computer into pieces. It's so boring, I always get side tracked because the videos are so boring and monotonous. I think districts use edgenuity because its very cheap. I am a person who usually listens to boring things and still learns but Edgenuity made me learn absolutely nothing. If I could give 0 stars I would.

More people in my school are dropping out/unable to graduate because of this website, and yet, my school will not find any other website to use. Half of the information the classes give you is either eight years out of date, completely wrong, or just downright useless. They give you useless information that will not help you out of high school, even if you pursue the role the class teaches you about. The classes are not up to date. The newest classes I have/am in are from 2020. We have discovered so much more from then to now. Edgenuity does not deserve a 1 star, it deserves to be shut down. I, and others I know, have a strong grudge against this website that we call an "online learning platform."

THIS IS THE WORST PLATFORM I HAVE EVER BEEN IN! YOU HAVE TO WORK EVERYDAY AND IF YOU MISS ONE DAY THEN YOU WILL FALL BEHIND! ALSO THEY TEACH YOU CERTAIN THINGS AND YOU THINK YOU UNDERSTAND BUT THEN THEY THROW THE MOST UNEXPECTED THING AT YOU JUST LOOK AT THE PICTURE BELOW. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS IS AWFUL except for the teachers they are the only reason why I am getting by. DO NOT TRY THIS PLATFORM!

Edgenuity is probably the most grueling educational website of all time. You are forced to watch unskippable and very boring lectures that feel forced and extremely unengaging. It's also really easy to fall behind since you are given assignments every day. If you are finding an educational platform for students to use, DON'T choose edgenuity.

Nah because why was I told i would get to work at my own pace with this... EVERY DAY I got these 4 lessons, that I learn nothing from, because they are short, immemoriable, boring, and the subjects themself get thrown at me waay too fast-paced. So all this, somehow all at once? I dont feel I'm being educated, I feel i'm learning to memorize. So then, I go on and I do my lessons, and I only just learned how many there are a day. Maybe! Just maybe... that would have been helpful to know before I GOT 4 HOURS BEHIND. Like? Why doesn't this program tell you anything? Not to mention once the answer on a problem that it said was correct, and i was wrong- was wrong. I have actually never despised a program more, maybe its my false advertisement being told that I would get to move at my own pace that provides me to much disdain for it but, god. This program is seriously awful. I'm not learning jack lol, and i actually wanted to.

Yes they always get back to me with an explanation about why the question makes absolutely no sense do either to a faulty diagram or activity instructions that require the students to discuss some thing with other students, which obviously is impossible on independent study. Unfortunately the fact that it takes 2 to 3 weeks to get this answer means that I end up having to find a quick fix myself. And then I can't even submit this review without submitting a proof of purchase?! I'm a certificated teacher doing this with my district, and I have no clue what proof of purchase even means.

Im a student who takes this so called "online learning program" if you could really call it that, this program is completely dry boring and outdated. What edgenuity basically does is throw information at you and call it a day so you have to sit through 5-6 hours of boring and annoying teachers who dont know what they are doing.
Edgenuity is by far the worst online learning platform I've ever encountered. It's breaking our kids' spirits, making them hate learning and stressing them beyond the breaking point... For those who really matter, it's a 1-star learning platform at best (and that's pushing it).

My issue, which was resolved fairly quickly, is that the names of 23 students showed up on my dashboard with the notification I needed to review their work before they could proceed. They are not my students, so I had no idea why this notification was there. Took some back and forth emails to say that I should ignore the notifications but there was nothing they, or I, could do to get rid of the notification. Not really a solution. Kind of like driving with the check engine light on. Tough to ignore. Other issue I'm having, and I still have not heard back or had it resolved, is that I cannot get into my Course Structures. Keep getting some kind of 503 or something Failure Notification. Have sent in 2 tickets on that one. Overall just a very difficult platform to work in from a teacher's point of view.

I use this for my school work and there are various issues, from not being able to see what you did wrong on tests to correct them, to not even being able to fix assignments. Another issue I had was it would mark my answers wrong, then when I submitted a corrected version of the answer, it would change its own answer and mark the previously "wrong" answer right! It also feels like sometimes the teachers talk to you like you're stupid.

In short, this is the lowest bidder option. Edgenuity teaches nothing other than why going for the lowest bidder is not an effective or sustainable way to operate a school system. It lacks in every way, from the way it presents information, to even the way it grades work. For example, you can complete a short response question by typing the necessary number of sentences, then adding every keyword you can think of that relates to the question (see the image below). It is clear the no though or effort went into the design and programming of this program, and that the founders don't care about their users, as long as they get money from purchases. If you are an educator and use this program in any capacity, other than as an example of what not to do, shame on you.

My daughter attends a charter school where they use this platform for 90% of their day. She has always been an A and B student and now she is failing everything and falling more and more behind every day. Any teacher knows that there needs to be a certain number of "touch points" before you can learn something new. The lessons do not come anywhere near providing enough touch points. And when she fails a quiz, the whole lesson locks up so you can't go back and see what you missed. I don't know what "kind" of learner one would have to be to be able to successfully learn anything on Edgenuity.

My kid who normally has a 3.7 now has a 3.2. The "teachers" dont seen to care about them fat, ing tests. If a student falls behind like mine did because of wrist surgery it has taken her almost 3 weeks to get in the a 6 hour mark of catching up. Since my daughter can't write she had me email her "teachers" for notes. One out of the 4 responded. Also she is being expected to write 10 page papers that are to be turned in by the end of each week. I am having to type her papers. My student is not learning anything because this site focuses too much on deadlines and score rather then making sue the students are learning.
