You might think that after all this time dropbox could have ironed out the bugs in their Windows client. Not so. Dropbox has multiple files which interrupt the Windows 11 Pro/Wintel PC shutdown. Names are Sprig Electron and their is another. This is an old issue that appears not to be of interest to Dropbox to fix. Dropbox has zero customer service for their "free" version. I will certainly agitate in my company NOT to use Dropbox paid version.
I'm extremely disappointed with Dropbox. The advertised price for their Plus plan was $119.88, but when I went to renew, they tried to charge me $143.86 without any upfront notice that this was due to taxes. If you're going to advertise a price, it should either include the taxes or at least be clear about the extra charges before checkout. This is deceptive and feels like a blatant attempt to mislead customers.
When I reached out to their customer support, I was bounced around with canned responses that completely ignored the real issue. They kept saying they couldn't "exclude" the tax, but that's not the point—I just want transparent pricing upfront. To make matters worse, the support team was utterly unhelpful, and it took ages just to get someone to even review my complaint.
Dropbox is overpriced, not transparent, and offers a level of customer service that's below zero. I am now considering moving to another provider. Save yourself the frustration—look elsewhere for cloud storage!
Dropbox bought a company called FormSwift. They (according to the people at FormSwift) changed their refund policy so that you will NEVER get a refund if they billed you already on your cancel date. My 7 day trial ends today (Sept 11,2023) and they already billed me. They refuse to refund the money even though I don't want the service. Going to call my bank but that's a 50/50 shot... This is beyond poor customer service! I will never use one of their products or even trial one again!

With Dropbox, file management is a breeze, and I can focus on what matters most—getting work done.
I've had a Dropbox account for many years with zero problems. Then on 01/30/24 I get a notification that my account was disabled. I sent customer service an email asking why this happened. I get a robo response saying that I "violated use policies" all i had were Conservative memes and videos supporting our President Trump. Now all of my precious photos and business files are permanently gone, no option to file a petition to get my account back. Nothing. Conservatives beware of this "woke" Leftist company. Put your important files and photos on another platform. You have been warned.
Totally inaccessible program, "chatbot" cannot really respond to questions and there is no way to talk to a person when you have a problem. They take my credit card without providing service. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else! I am!
I have been using Dropbox, on and off, for around 9 years now and have had a good experience using their free storage service. It is very easy to store, share and transfer your files using the website. The free version gives you a pretty good amount of space to store your files. You probably won't fill it up, unless you are a hardcore/heavy user and/or store video and audio files. I don't use this as much anymore, but their service is still good. I have never used their paid premium version, so I can't comment on the quality of it. But I would imagine it is very good, since the free version is very good.
Don't try free trial as then they bill you forever and don't respond to requests to stop billing your credit card or to refund the amount. It seems they ripoff people all the time and should be charged with fraud and put out of business. I wanted to try the service but found it not worth what they wanted to charge every month.
Stay away from them!
I just spent the last few days trying to regain ownership of thousands of business files that were transferred to the ownership of one of my companies. This should never have happened - a three-day time-suck that could have resulted in serious damages! Deleting my Dropbox account immediately.
Answer: TRUE THEY SCAMMED ME TOO!
Answer: SCAMMERS!
Answer: I hope there is a class action suit and I will join it.
Answer: Dropbox customer support will soft talk you into thinking they are helping to put a stop to their fraudulent charges, but in the end they actually do nothing. I don't believe they have an in-house system to stop credit card charges. There are many crooked companies that do business this same way as well. How many people don't read their credit card statement in full every month? And the dropbox folks rake in the fraudulent charges people don't catch. Call them, and they say "we're sorry" it won't happen again. I went through that three times and finally had to re-issue my card with a new number. Shown is a canned text statement below sent to people with billing problems: >"I will need all of the following information for security reasons and to locate the charge to assist you:"< > Card type First six digits of the card Last four digits of the card Full name on the credit card charged Date of charge Amount charged Billing postal code< "Dear Dropbox, If I spent the same amount of time, it takes to cancel a CC looking at the thousands of negative online reviews before I bought Dropbox I would be well ahead of the game. I added my negative review of dropbox to the many already online after I changed the CC number on my Visa, of course. And no, I will not give you any more cc numbers or names. Dropbox has a worldwide reputation of continuous charges once they get your number. Did you think I just fell off the turnip truck? LOL Goodbye Forever,"
Answer: I was unsuccessful as well. I ended up disputing the charge with my credit card. It is still being investigated. My wife was successful in getting a refund on a new account that she never used, within 7 days of paying. She is the only one I know of that has done that successfully.
Dropbox has a rating of 1.9 stars from 210 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Dropbox most frequently mention credit card, customer service and free trial. Dropbox ranks 109th among Online Storage sites.
