Kiosks are worthless
September 29, 2024

How much money does tax payers pay for the dmv kiosks at various locations it way to much whatever the cost for the piss poor job of software and development and the fact why do they have a section on the kiosks for replacement of driver's license or id but it wouldn't allow me to get a temporary license so frustrating with the good ol' boys in DC And in our state government ca communist breeding ground 🤬 there needs to be more accountability in our government from the top on down to the street sweeper an idiot could do better with just a little common sense! I thought of few laws regarding just stupidity! I just wondered if our lawmakers were born stupid or if that was just from years of practice!

Went to Paso Robles DMV to get a trailer transferred into my name. I only had the license plate number, no vin or hull id. Rather than look up the license number to get the info, I was rudely sent back twice to correct the forms. I was then told that my 90 year old mother had to fill out one of the forms. After seeing 3 different employees, the issue was finally resolved, but not before being told I had to bring in the trailer for them to look at it. These employees are not doing us a favor, they are being paid to do a job.

It would be nice if the DMV would remember WE THE TAXPAYERS pay their salaries and they work for us and we do not work for them.
The inefficiency of this office only proves government employees can care less. They are protected because they work for the government and therefore give a half hearted effort. I had made an appointment and when I arrived, amazingly even with my confirmation number... My information was not listed. If this agency as well as ALL Government agencies were accountable, I believe 85 to 90% of the employees would be fired.

Absolutely tragic customer service, or lack thereof. It's impossible to reach a live person via phone or the site. I've tried calling many times and have yet to get through to anyone that's not Miles (an automated voice system). Still disgusted by the amount paid in taxes to the CA gov with how poor their agencies are.

In order to renew my license I needed to take an "interactive e-learning course" online. There was no link to this course on the DMV website. I had an 800 number to call for help on my renewal notice. The robot told me (at2;30pm) my call could not be completed that day; call back some other time. I attempted to chat. The AI chatbot could not answer my basic question. I opted for "live chat with an agent" An agent never responded despite my 75 minute wait and the chat was terminated by the DMV website. I was prompted to "upload documents" as well. That proved impossible to do as the upload link just led to a feedback loop of "upload" prompts. It's the DMV experience we have sadly become used to...frustrating, time wasting and intentionally obtuse.

The DMV states that I can apply for a handicapped placard online and I tried to do this and I took Two days and 15 tries and even added a mobile app ID. Still didn't work and it looks like I'm gonna have to go into the local office spend half a day when it could have been done online in minutes. FY DMV!

I was trying to make an appointment for my motorcycle riding test. The online system is filled with errors regarding a safety certification paperwork, which is not needed for me. I tried speaking with the online chat bot, no response by anyone. I left a message to call me, that's laughable on the hopes someone will call be from the DMV. The whole service experience has failed at the DMV and you find yourself waiting in long lines for hours at a time to just get a simple question answered. I feel bad for all the other persons, especially the elderly.

Have you been defrauded by CA DMV? Hey, me too. They created a computer system where the same VIN number can be assigned to many accounts. By doing this making it look like you have several vehicles. Then they send you a notice that your CA refund has been intersected because you owe them money. When you call ofcourse no-one picks up the phone but promise you to be called back the next couple of days because they are "so busy". In the meantime you have one car that you paid the registration for and you don't owe them a penny.

I don't know who the state of California hires to design their DMV website, but whoever it is they should not be paid a cent! It is the most incredibly convoluted nonsensical bunch of not understandable information I have ever tried to navigate online. Throughout the process you don't know what you've properly completed or where you are in this bizarre process of simply renewing your California driver license.
Having grown up in California, I am very aware of the nightmares I experienced just knowing that the renewal of my CDL was looming. That was only 50 years ago, but what they have in store for all of us now makes that seem like a walk in the park.

I have recently renewed I am 81 years old. I recently renewed my California drivers license at Santa Monica. The staff.excellent, courteous and accommodating. The system is in need of a major overhaul. The option of answering the handbook questions is great.if it ever works. I wasted 2 hours trying to "save time". The reviews are self explanatory, averaging one star our of five! A 20 year IT specialist gave up...the nonsensical questions (some) led to massive frustration that I witnessed at the computer terminals, one older lady sharing her frustration for all to hear. I understand this is a bureaucratic challenge. Imossible to be all things to all people, but this a mess.I feel for your staff.
