It allows you to play old PS1 or other console games, comes with a whole library, web site archiving especially if you like to archive your own, allows you to share your favorite videos, many software and images you could check out i love it especially if you wanna like film yourself playing a game
Blocked a site because certain people want to hide the fact that they want to rape women, this is a quarantined attack to hide factual information from the public eye, it does not help the fact that these people use their identity to shield themselves from criticism, claiming it to be harassment, while one basically made child porn, another is a scam artist who is a assistant to a suicide prevention hotline where nobody know how to even run a suicide prevention hotline, and one is basically a crazy person,
This seems to be common practice when it comes to things they don't agree with, they burn the books and tell you that they archive, not surprisingly the owner of the site is apparently a pedophile who gets off on mutilating children, in other words, don't give them your patronage.
Found their tool to find defunct (no longer existing) websites. Use to use one and wondered what happened. Still gone, but was able to see screenshots of the old site. ALSO, WOW WOW WOW! Old magazines, books, movies, and SOFTWARE all legal! Such an incredible resource.
The idea is awesome. Wayback machine has proven to be really handy when you need to check historical websites. Or just for nostalgia.
I mainly use archive.org it for downloading music from small weblabels which it is full of! But it is actually really messy, I can undestand why amateurs stay away from it as just finding the right link to click to to find the release can be a chore. It would be a lifesaver if the uploader could just choose one main link instead of a confusing list. Also the search does not allow Scandic letters.
But it's a free service that has extended beyond its original uses so one can't complain too much. I've found a lot of interesting music through it!
I asked internet archive to correct some information. After many mails and phones, there is still no reaction. The site owners also do not give any reaction. This is a huge fake news site!
I was recently looking for an older article by Dr. Mercola (who is outspokenly against the Covid-19 "vaccine"), and guess what message I got:
"This URL has been excluded from the Wayback Machine."
So, if you run a popular Web site but are not gung-ho about vaccines and masks, then the Wayback Machine will BAN you.
Pathetic.
Just ban the Wayback Machine from your life instead.
This is a really good site as it also provides its content for free, especially the Wayback machine and the free books, I don't see where the complaints are coming from
I used to be a big fan of the Internet Archive back when it was actually doing what it was supposed to, and that's archive really old sites, as well as public domain books. I used to have so much fun revisiting the earliest days of the web, back when people were making silly meme sites or personal pages on Geocities or other free webhosting sites.
As of 2020, whatever good will I had towards the archive changed when I saw that it was uploading a king's ransom of pirated movies, books, music video games and other things very much under copyright. I have screenshots from this year, back when it was trying to defend itself against Hachette in court The Internet Archive had the nerve to continue hosting all of this pirated content as it was being sued, I guess, waiting on the verdict from the lawsuit so it could decide whether to continue hosting these illegal files or not.
The Internet Archive also scrapes people's websites and files without their permission, and makes it easy for visitors to bypass paywalls, so that content creators can't get paid.
When you contact the archive to try and get your site removed, it demands all of your private information, including photo ID and domain registration information!
The Internet Archive is just another scummy content scraper and copyright thief, and if you have a website, I strongly suggest you remove it from the Wayback Machine.
I can see the history of any site. Great. Very helpful site.
Internet Archive has a rating of 3.1 stars from 12 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Internet Archive ranks 56th among Directories sites.
