Second purchase, payment went through and suddenly they sent me an email saying order cancelled. Called CS and they told me it was "computer glitches" and can help with reordering via phone (called number on Wayfair website). Then after 5 minutes they told me my account was locked for no reason at all. I asked why, they told me they can't say and I need to shop somewhere else. Now I have to wait for my refund to come in and such a waste of time. What a marketing scheme! STAY AWAY! Liars!
On March 22,2021, I ordered a Purespa 140-Jet Inflatable Hot Tub (Intex) for $949.99 with an estimated delivery date of April 5. This was great since it was birthday gift for April 14th.
On March 26th, I get an email saying there is a delay and the new estimated delivery date is April 12th. No problem.
Wanting to ensure that there will not be additional delays, I message to inquire about the shipping date, and if Wayfair anticipates additional delays. (side note- this product is now $60.00 cheaper on their website) I was assured by Michaela L. On March 31st that my order was scheduled to ship out by the end of the day and arrive on or before April 12th. At this point I believe the agent and feel confident that my order will be here in time.
On April 4th, I receive another email saying that my order will be delayed once again, with a new estimated delivery date of April 19th. At this point we had purchased an enclosure and lights from Amazon for the tub. We had also created a base pad with concrete blocks to place the hot tub on.
On April 11, I receive yet another email of a delay, with an estimated delivery date of April 26th. I email Wayfair and ask how many more times it will be delayed and that I was beyond frustrated, and clearly what was told to me previously, was a lie! On April 12th I receive a response from Galen S. To tell me that it has been back-ordered three times and that the shipment delay was a result of the need for additional information or clarification warehouse and freight (whatever that means) and that the reason for backorder was the wrong shipping method selected. Galen went on to say that this was unusual because the shipping method is at the supplier's discretion. My estimated delivery date is still April 26th and an agent would reach out to me within 24 hours with additional information.
On April 15th, I receive another email from Wayfair saying that my order was cancelled because the item is discontinued. I contact customer service once again expressing my frustration, and inquire why the item is still being advertised on their website.
I receive an email saying that their website is not updated in real-time.
I am beyond frustrated and disappointed with this company. Terrible customer service. I took advantage of the pay bright option and have made 3 weekly payments on this item and still haven't received a refund. Just a terrible experience all around! Never again! Liars.
*Update: April 19th. This same product that was apparently discontinued is still being advertised on the website for $1251. 84. No wonder they cancelled!
If I could leave zero stars, I would and I would highly advise purchasing elsewhere based on my experience. I've made several purchases through Wayfair over the years and of course have had issues, but nothing like this. I am beyond upset and will not stop pursuing them until I receive my full refund and they remove their defective items from my home. I wanted to order the 5 piece Lydia Dining Set by Kelly Clarkson. 1. It was out of stock. 2. It was priced at $3,500+. However, they sell the exact same table and chairs in the set individually, which oddly cost less than the price of the set that is still out of stock. Obviously I chose to purchase the exact same items that are in the set separately because they were in stock... delayed, but still available. Nov 8,2020 I added the exact same items that are in the set to my cart... 1 table and 2 sets of 2 chairs. The chairs arrived Nov 19,2020. I took them out, assembled them and disposed of the packaging. I can't remember the exact date the table arrived, but it was late November. Again, assembled the large table and disposed of the packaging. Not long after I noticed there were white spots all over the table top. It looked like the wax or seal had been dripped all over and left marks. I tried to remove it and it came off, leaving shiny/greasy looking smudges where the wax was. Very unimpressed. Contacted Wayfair and after a few back and forth conversations, they said they were unable to replace just the table top and had to replace the entire table. Fine. They wanted to pick up the original table when they delivered the replacement table beginning of January. Several times I told Wayfair I was not comfortable returning the table without knowing the quality of the replacement. I was assured it wouldn't happen again. Of course being skeptical, I did not return the table when the replacement was delivered early January. So present day... I opened the second box (which is no easy task given the size/weight of the table) only to find it is worse than the first. Large scratches on both ends, paint stain drips all over the table, a large protruding blemish (literally if tables could have zits) right in the center of the table. Very upset, shoved the table back in the box and emailed Wayfair with photos... no response. I called them yesterday and was told by the 1st customer service person that they would fully refund the table AND chairs, BUT I had to pay for shipping on the chairs. I refused. I specifically bought the chairs that are designed for the table. The fact that they cannot provide a quality table that matches the chairs should not come at a cost to me. Transferred to her Supervisor and was told the table wasn't an issue to return/refund, however they actually CAN'T return/refund the chairs and had so many excuses as to why. Because there was no packaging (I offered to package them, not allowed.) Because they were assembed (I offered to unassemble, not allowed.) Because they were past the "30 day return window" (unfortunately I couldn't see into the future and foresee poor quality tables being delivered). Excuse after excuse. Transferred to the Customer Care Manager, who was nice enough as I had a meltdown but by the sounds of it, has zero authority other than to read from a script (like the other customer service reps) and offer a 25% refund.
I have been charged $1400+ for chairs that I specifically bought to match a set... a set that Wayfair sells... a set that cost MORE than buying the pieces individually... a set that was and still is backordered... and simply being repeatedly told by all of the Wayfair reps that I should try and sell them locally or find a table locally that matches and there's nothing they can do because of this and because of that. They are trying to pigeon-hole me into the fact that because the items were added to the cart separately (note... they were added to the same order and are on the same invoice), they aren't considered a "set." Like give me a break.
If I could call Kelly Clarkson myself, I would. She's putting her name on a product that twice now, the quality is so poor and the wholesaler of her product has now ripped me off of over $1400.
Of course there's more detail involved but believe it or not, this is the short version. I wish your experiences to be better but if you're reading this, I can only assume we're in the same boat... and I feel for you. I will continue posting my experience everywhere I can and sharing with every single person I know and maybe there's someone at Wayfair with a basic understanding of human principal... but we'll see.
Before you buy anything from Wayfair, make sure you check out the REAL MSRP for the item. They will indicate that you're getting 70% (or whatever %) off the MSRP but if you check, they're charging more than anyone else - and often more than the MSRP.
Try this one on for size - sign in and put something in your shopping bag. Don't buy it but watch the price for the item (both the price charged and what they claim to be the MSRP) rise! They know you want the item so they keep raising the price knowing you'll eventually get around to buying it - at a higher price.
Thing is, most internet retailers do NOT do this! Their competitors - TheMine.com, Build.com and CanadianLightingExperts.com - will actually give you a coupon to encourage you to buy - giving you 10% off the UNCHANGED price to encourage you to buy. They'll also give you a quote for a better price if you're buying a lot of stuff at once.
Wayfair has okay service and their shipping is only slightly higher than other places (I have purchased from them in the past) - it's just their pricing and value that is incredibly suspicious. I would buy from them - but only after not being able to find what I want elsewhere - and then only if I immediately check out so they can't jack up the price.
Don't sign in and don't put anything in your shopping bag until you're ready to buy.
