Nonfunctional, wrong lights sent - Tomtop will not adequately resolve - Do not buy from Tomtop.com
November 10, 2020

Summary: I recommend you do not buy from Tiomtop.com.

This is my first and only order placed with Tomtop.

I ordered LED par lights form Tomtop.com with US plug specified. What was received was LED par lights with Chinese plug and with added adapters thrown in to convert from UK plug to US plug.

Clearly they were aware they were not sending the ordered US plug because they sent the adapters which would not have been necessary if they had sent the right lights in the first place

The adapters that were sent were incorrect and the packages were delivered in a thin shipping bag with 2 layers of thin soft foam containing 4 small thin cardboard boxes of lights. The boxes arrived damaged, but the lights themselves do not appear to have sustained any cosmetic damage. Bottom line is I did not receive what was ordered and the units will not function in my country (Canada).

I contacted Tomtop customer service. I provided them the order reference number, images of the product received that clearly showed the Chinese plug and the adapters, as well as a screen shot of the order captured from their own website which clearly shows the US plug was specified / documented in the order document. See attached images.

Tomtop customer service responded that I had ordered the Chinese plug version and that it was my fault. This is outright false and they simply chose not to acknowledge their fault in this issue. I resent the photo evidence and requested that they process a refund a provide a pre-paid charge account to return the material.

Tomtop customer service again responded that I had ordered the Chinese plug (second of 3 statements they made about this) and failed to acknowledge their error and provide resolution.

I requested that they forward the issue to their Director of Customer Service for resolution. This request was ignored. They offered a refund but stated that I had to pay for the return of the product and they would refund the money when received.

I have no trust that they will honor that refund since they have yet to acknowledge that the ordered product was the US version and their actions to date have been to deny the claim without substance.

Additionally, I am concerned that they will receive the damaged boxes and deny the claim because they will attribute the damage to the return shipment and not the original shipment where the damage was sustained.

Tomtop's customer service clearly does not have concern for the customer experience, does not acknowledge the information sent by customers, blatantly contradicts the facts, does not provide adequate resolution and the customer is out of pocket additional money to return the products.

At this point, the issue remains unresolved.

My recommendation: If you are considering Tomtop because you think you will save some money off of your purchase price, do not do it! If the order is not as expected, you will not get satisfactory resolution from Tomtop and you will pay more than the discount to resolve the issue. Resolution, if it comes, will be delayed and extremely frustrating. I am still waiting...

I do not recommend this store. They are scammers
March 21, 2020

I've made several purchases in this store for two years and it was OK. Recently, however, I lost money. Something different than I ordered was sent to me. I noticed that there is no "Buyer Protection" here, Customer Service has not been responded for almost two months despite my emails. In that case, I wrote the product rating and saw that reviews are censored in Tomtop and if they are bad they are not published. When purchasing in this store, you should know that the product descriptions and reviews may be false or untrue. You buy in this store like a lottery, receive goods or lose money.

My orders: AN19J07V5914-DKAJUW and AN19I27I3915-7PQLMT

Today is March 22 and I was robbed by them finally. In February I sent back them these items and I have confirmation of receipt of their shipment, but I have not received an exchange or refund.

Also, do not believe in positive reviews on this site.
These positive ratings on this site are paid for by them. These positive ratings are unbelievable. They search for people who have no problems with them and send them such letters: "We are now offering a 2USD COUPON for you, in return that you write your true review on any one of the three websites. You will get 3USD COUPON if you write on two websites. You will get 5USD COUPON if you write on three sites. Please click any of the following websites:
1. *************
2.************
3.************
Write your review and activate it. Send your review link back to our service email address: ***********
We will immediately send you the COUPON, in return!
Yours Sincerely,
TOMTOP.com "
But they also cheat on these people by not giving them these coupons.

Tip for consumers:

Zero contact with support. No return or exchange of defective items. You will lose money.

Products used:

Other item sent than the offer.

Don't Buy From TomTop!
January 15, 2020

Unless you are willing to lose your money, don't shop at TomTop.com. I've placed 3 orders (multiple products) with them - low prices, but the last two involved poor product design and defects backed by terrible customer service. I found with the last order that if the product they sell has a problem (and most do in my experience!), they require you to:

1) shoot a comprehensive video which explains and demonstrates the problem to them (this is not as simple as it sounds- you need good sound, video, script to make a proper video - or guess what - you either have to do your video over again, edit it with software, or risk not convincing them there's a problem (meaning TOTALLY WASTING YOUR TIME!). This requires planning and time and diligence- even for someone very adept at making video.
2) post it on YouTube and send them an email. Guess what- this takes time too (even for experienced users- and you can just forget about the inexperienced users - I know lots of people that simply wouldn't be able to figure this out!) - and this may not work right in the end at all. In my case, this was all to decide whether they agree with me about a cheap plastic product - a useless antenna that doesn't do anything but take up space! How much time, additional money, and/or complicated video work does a seller need from me about a cheap piece of non-working plastic?! ENTIRELY TOO MUCH! No other good retailers I know require such onerous demands of their customers!

In lieu of a video, they said I can pay additional money to have a replacement sent - which is like throwing good money after bad (maybe doubling your losses with another long shipping wait combined with no guarantee you'll get a better solution - if you bought a cheap bad design, guess what-- that's what you'll get again!).

All I should need to do to be made whole for a cheap non-working or defective product is to ask for a refund or a replacement. Good sellers these days do that! TomTop has no "cost reasonableness test" like many reputable major sellers apply when the customer solution for a defective, misrepresented, or non-working product would involve costs too large vs the original product selling price -- good sellers will just refund me or send a working product if my cost would be unreasonable vs. the selling price to make me satisfied and whole. Why- because good businesses care about customer satisfaction (not TomTop!)

No amount of discount prices can legitimate these policies or cover for the fact that they sell a lot of off-brand and proprietary cheap products that you can't research anywhere else. You are basically gambling when you order. You send them money and you might get a usable product that matches the site description or you might lose your money and have nothing in the end. That's where I am now.

Businesses like TomTop need to be avoided and weeded out of the market as they don't offer products backed fair and honest refund/replacement policies. Stick with more reputable sellers with solid, customer friendly policies and products!

Here's some of my specific experiences:
Out of my 3 orders with them, two included poorly designed products that soon were worth nothing - most recently a flimsy plastic "120 mile" TV antenna (there are actually NO actual 120 mile tv antennae in the low end consumer market. Unless you have an unobstructed 120 mile path to the TV tower (rare conditions like living on a mountain surrounded by a flat plain and have perfect weather conditions and have an unusually good antenna, TV signal is simply not going to go that far!) that has a broken coaxial port that added 0 miles of range (NOTHING!) to my TV's standard reception (it actually eliminated reception of stations I got before!- with my final results, this amounts to false advertising so egregious it's basically theft!)

An earlier order included a Wifi extender that required me (after terrible instructions which required extensive web research of customer reviews to find a solution on my own!) to set the extender up in its control software as being installed in China (I live in the US) to get it to work properly but this then changed lots of the software interface for the product to Chinese language/characters which made the interface almost worthless to me). It worked "okay" (not great range) but it stopped working in less than a year and for many of the above reasons was worthless- went into the trash can!

I recently bought a pair of gloves from them which seemed nice at first glance, but despite my having thin fingers, these gloves were actually tighter in the fingers than any gloves I've used in the last 50 years! They actually cut off the blood circulation so much that they made my hands colder! What good are insulated winter gloves that force your fingers to get COLDER?! (Their site doesn't permit me to update my initial positive review to explain this to other potential buyers-- another very questionable policy not found with most reputable major sellers.)

Save your money and don't support merchants that sell junk backed by awful policies - TomTop seems to just want to make sales - they pretend to care by being responsive and polite to my emails, but in substance, don't care about customer satisfaction because they have customer-unfriendly, one-sided policies that only benefit them.

And don't be misled by TomTop's positive reviews. They have not posted a negative review that I submitted awhile ago about the above mentioned antenna and according to many review websites I've now visited, TomTop pays/incents people to give positive reviews (ie. An UNETHICAL and DECEPTIVE practice!). And based on the similar content, writing style, and flowery & sometimes awkward language in so many of their product reviews (today's most common bogus review pattern - bogus review warning signs also writing pattern repetitiveness and shared translation/language-barrier indicators), it's highly likely that either their owners, their staff, a third party, or specific designees personally make and/or encourage bogus positive reviews on their site and other sites as well (I'm looking at one right now on the right of my screen that just sounds absurdly glowing - way beyond a normal review compliment- these are all over their marketing-gimmick-laden website!)
IN sum- I hope this helps steer you in a better, safer shopping direction.
My advice: Do NOT buy from them!

I agree, it's a fraud.
October 2, 2018

I'm just going to translate my negative review from Trustpilot, which I wrote in German. I ordered an article that was never sent to me. I waited almost two weeks, which I think is a reasonable timescale for the dispatching of an article which is supposedly ON STOCK!

I wanted my money returned via Paypal (the original method I chose), but after seven days, they have still not refunded my money, for an order that has not been shipped. I am extremely irritated by this whole business.

Their customer service is relatively slow, and as far as I can tell it only consists of two people, with a relatively broken English.

My story is this: I saw a tablet on there for $150 less than on Amazon (which usually rules the low prices); so I figured I'd make a nice steal from China. But true to the motto: if it's too good to be true, then it's probably not true. (I might have butchered this quote, but whatever).

After the status on the web page had not changed to "shipped" from "processing" after almost two weeks, I figured it was time to ask for a cancellation. Funny thing is that there is no such option or setting or button their website. It all has to go through e-mail support. Old school and slow. E-mail replies on average took two or three days.

The money problem: My money was out the window the second I clicked "Pay with Paypal", so the company should have received it in an instant. I tried asking the support of course, during those two weeks, about when my article is going to be dispatched, but I was just asked to be a little more patient. Bull$#*!. Now my predicament is that I am still waiting for a respectable sum of money on Paypal. I opened a "problem case" which has been responded by them relatively quickly, but with the words "Could you pls kind wait it?" I was asked to wait another 2-5 week days. Which is not only absolutely hilariously comical because of the broken English, but also because a payment via Paypal should not take more than tree seconds! FIVE WORKING DAYS FOR WHAT EXACTLY?!

Therefore, I have come to my conclusion of regarding TomTop.com as a fradulent company that just borrows money from guillible customers, so that they can pump money in other businesses, but God knows what they do with it. One thing is for sure, they do not provide customers with products, nor will I ever know if this establishment even exists as it is portrayed on the Internet.

In any case, stay away from this webshop and put your trust into your local vendor, not some overseas crap with corrupt laws. Now what am I to do if I never see my damn money again and Paypal fails me? Go to court? Where exactly? Avoid these sharks for all it's worth!

How I got a TomTop refund
June 12, 2018

This is how I got my TomTop refund in the UK.
This is a summary of my experience with Tomtop and the zero support they have given me on a drone problem. I will also have links to sites to help you get your credit card company or direct debit company to reverse the transaction if you are unhappy with their product, and they are not replying to you.
Also if you wonder why Tomtop gets good reviews it is because they send out a bribe email promising 2USD to 5USD coupons to customers who give them a good review. 2USD for one website and 5USD coupon for 3 website reviews. The text of that email with the review sites they want you to lie on have been pasted at the end of this review.

I bought a WLtoys Q696-A RC Quadcopter for my sons 12th birthday in July. It has never flown. TomTop support offered help but did not follow through and then stopped replying. The timeline is below.
5th July 2017, Received email acknowledgement of order placement with order number XXXXXX
11th July 2017, Received email notifying of shipment of goods
14th August 2017, Sent email requesting support
15th August 2017, Received email from Customer Support requesting video of fault
17th August 2017, Sent email with video attachment for technician to review
20th August 2017, Received email from Support stating video has gone to the technician
30th August 2017, Sent email asking for an update and asking for a refund if not resolved in 10 days.
11th September 2017, Sent email asking for refund and process to do this
11th September 2017, Received email saying video cannot open and asking for it to be uploaded to YouTube.
12th September, Sent email link to the YouTube video
5th October 2017, Sent email asking for an update. No reply.
7th November 2017, Sent email letter claiming breach of contract of The Consumer Rights Act 2015, and requesting a full refund within 14 days. No reply.
9th January 2018, In correspondence with my credit card money to get the credit card transaction reversed.
Wasnt able to get a refund through the normal credit card route but got it through a chargeback claim. Bank refused at first attempt but refunded on 2nd try.
Dont give up.

The sites for template letters to get your credit and debit card transactions reversed are on the Which consumer magazine website if you search for /letter-to-make-a-chargeback-claim and /advice/can-i-claim-on-my-credit-card-when-something-goes-wrong

As promised below is the bribe email.

Deception
February 12, 2018

I've ordered in this store. It would be better not started.
Pros: the prices of some goods
Cons: sometimes marriage, and the support service will not help you, and worse - deceived.
My first order was a quadcopter, which I never received, refund I waited 1.5 months, first fed Breakfast delivery,. Lied that the money was transferred, it lasted about a month.
After the first order I thought to try again or just forget about this store, but the only plus of this shop and the toad convinced me to do it again order.
The second order was more epic.
Seeing on the website tomtop"and the router is at a price 2400r., while the average price other stores 3000r. I made the order.
The order was long, but still came. Got the router in St. Petersburg, a courier had brought home. The box is a little dented, but the router itself is not visually affected. Unfortunately there is a break in communication with the internet port on average 8 times an hour. The Internet starts to work only when rebooting. In support addressed, said will find a solution. For a very long time there were negotiations about a solution to this problem, that only offered to partially compensate, they said to hand over in repair, and we will pay. Handed over for repair, notifying the seller in advance. After a while, the seller said that it is not necessary to take, agreed that the manufacturer will send a new one through them. At this point I thought everything was solved. After a while, I decided to find out at what stage the solution to my problem, but it turned out that I was just tricked into a support chat and no one was going to send anything. I began to correspond by e-mail with the seller, sent him all the screenshots of correspondence, to which he began to ask questions on the new, the same as before in the chat. Trying to explain the problem again, the seller seemed to be just pulling time.
The most cool their proposal how to solve the problem - was to send them a router back to China and pay anew his order in full (that day smile I kept until the evening).
I with such problem faced for the first time, and the seller is likely to have been taught, and turning to drink and fell I simply refused saying "the Current state of the product differs from the state in which it was received by you.".
I was left without money and without a router, just because 1. The fool 2.The toad is strong 3.The seller was smart and understands how to correctly breed the careless customers.
Good luck and my advice is, don't let the toad to strangle you and go around the side of the store. And not always know PayPal will protect you.
