I rented a storage unit at the 6330 Market St. Location in Upper Darby, PA. Right from the beginning I saw numerous red flags, we'll get to those in a moment. I was in a tight spot because my fiancé and I broke up and I needed to move out. The closest storage place was this Public Storage. It was a curse from the beginning. They got me into a 10x10 unit on the promotional $99 plus taxes and fees. What I didn't realize is the $15 taxes, $29 lock fee, and mandatory $20 unit insurance brought my total up to over $170 just to move in. First strike! I was in a bind and paid. However, when I was moving in, which was October of 2020, only one of the elevators was working. My storage space was on the 3rd floor numbered 835 way in the back end. There were no carts available and I had to go up the elevator and traverse about 200 meters to just get to my unit. My Apple Watch showed I stepped 8.5 miles that day. I'm positive and chalked it up as a win. Note…there are no ramps at this location. So when you are loading or unloading there is a small curb or lip that you have to step over to get to the landing. So on the first day I paid an exorbitant amount of money, navigated a broken elevator, and walked almost 9 miles moving. Then my real troubles began.
In early 2021 the unit rent was raised. I don't know the exact month or how much but I noticed a few months later. My unit rent from $99 to $150 +taxes, fees, and insurance. Then it went up again that September of 2021. So I was paying over $200 a month for a 10x10 storage unit. Then I began to get late fees added to my unit because I stopped my automatic payments. I would literally get the following month's bill sent around the 12th of each month. I remember paying a $400 monthly rent because I was late and they added a lien fee. The hours of operation are only from 9am-6pm and you only can access your unit from 9am-5:45pm. So in January of 2023 I decided to downsize my unit for a smaller, less expensive unit. The cost was supposed to be all in $129 per month. The next month Public Storage raised their rates and I was paying $181 per month for a smaller unit. So I paid $181 from February 2023- July 2023 for a 5x10 unit on the 3rd floor with access from 9am-5:45pm and no carts, ramps, or temperature control. I know…silly me! I paid over $7000 to public storage from October 2020- July 2023 and I finally moved out on August 3,2023. I called and asked if I had a grace period and they told me I wouldn't be charged until the 5th of August. LIES. I moved out on the 3rd and they send me a bill stating I owed for the whole month! You can't make this stuff up. Public Storage is predatory, unscrupulous, and not a good company to work with. I gave them two stars simply because I stored my things there for a few years with no damage or theft. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Ever.
Stay away from Public Storage and their monthly rate hikes!

Yesterday we went to our Public Storage on ***** Potranco to put up somethings. We tried to open our unit, but to our surprise it was said if we wanted she can give us new key set. Well why wouldn't we, were paying for the storage and now she is the only one to have access to our unit. We asked why they changed our key, her response was our unit was opened and they put a new one. They never called us, so we could check our unit if anything was missing. And she responded that they have had a lot of new employees and they forgot to note it in our account. But she knew what key to bring and open our unit. When she open our unit the lock that was popped out was there in clear vision, they knew and fail us tenants.
We notice things missing and things scattered. We said we have been robbed. She said she was not aware of any robberies. But other unit holders were told they had to make police reports, this was on July 31,1 on August 2,2023 and us on the the 3rd. Six to 8 reports were made, how can she stand there and say she's not aware of any robberies. Plus I am trying to find more reports.
We were stopped by another unit member that they facility were robbed too, but company had no knowledge of this. Unit 224 also was robbed, next to ours.
Followed employee to her office so she can input notes on their computer. But did not call the police, she said we had to do that on our own. But these thieves broke in to their units and the make no report. Sounds very fishy to me.
Notice, I believe six monitors of security around facility behind her. I mention that they have access to view their video. She quickly responded that they don't always work. Mentioned to her that 2 Sunday back, I and another 5 people could not enter facility. Called their number and left all my information to call me back. I had traveled 20 miles to their facility to leave things in my unit. 5 minutes went by and call we called the care phone number and left a very lengthy message with all my Information for return call. Until this date no one has returned my call.
I left a message before with a quick call back. She could no answer that question.
Called police to make a report, then list all items that I remetll waiting on a return call.mber that taken. Then the detective will ask for security footage. I'm sure they won't have any. And they have fail to have security cameras working to protect them and our units.
Called we care number *******620 and 855-*******, talkrd to Letty, explain all my concerns, robbery. She acted like she was not aware, but I wanted someone that was management from their corporate to call me back to answer all my questions & concern why they fail a unit owners. Still waiting on a return call.

I don't recommend anyone to go to 1966 Leland Dr, Marietta Georgia public storage. I went here to ask questions before I submit for a storage unit 5 x 10 after my questions was answered. I proceeded on my smart phone to purchase my storage which is supposed to be one dollar for the first month, but they don't tell you about the $29 administrative fee or $20 lock fee, and you can't get your own lock due to how the lock is made. The lock looks more like a cylinder lock, it detaches from the unit. After I submitted my payment a message popped up saying oops contact us. So I did. I went to the Lady that was at the front desk, and I told her it took my payment, but it didn't give me a storage unit or my pin. The girl that sits at the front desk kept saying I don't see where you purchase a unit, and I told her here is my receipt for payment, it shows Public Storage took payment $51.19 after three long hours of going back-and-forth with the woman at the front desk, and whoever her manager is by the name of Ericka Traylor, nothing was resolved. I said let me talk to someone outside this location, and I thought let me talk to someone through Online chat on the Public Storage website, Public Storage Online told me they no longer, and I quote: according to Renae, I am only pulling up a closed account with the This location is no longer managed by Public Storage so we would not be able to assist with billing. I was in shock, and when I told the lady at the front desk this information, she was furious! Public Storage at 1966 Leland Dr takes people, and then tells you to dispute the payment with your bank. I still don't have a storage, due to public storage has my money, and won't give it back. I was told since my payment is not attached to a storage unit they actually didn't take my payment, and I said if that's the case then return my payment, the Lady at the front desk, and her manager swore up and down we do not have your payment, and I said so you do because I have proof that Public Storage took my payment. I had to make a police report, soi can and take Public Storage whoever manage this property to civil court. I am still driving around with my stuff in my car because I still don't have a storage. Not unit public storage on 1966 Leland Dr give me my money back so that I can go to Uhaul instead. The lady at the front desk tried to correct it by trying to give me a storage, but I'm like how can you give me a storage when you're telling me Public Storage never took a payment. So you're telling me you're going to give me the storage unit for free even though you don't see a payment in your system, make it make sense! I'll make sure I sue for pain and suffering, no one wants to drive around with items in their car when it should be in storage. I just moved down here yesterday. I made sure I screenshot my conversation with Renae on the public storage website, and I made sure to take pictures of the items in my car, and I screenshot my payment that was taken from Public storage. - N Phil
The manager, Genice at the 367 Southern Blvd location in the Bronx, has been very nasty to me on multiple ocassions and verbally abusive to my elderly parents. When I have expressed concern over this, I have had my lease threatened. I was given a flatbed with a faulty wheel one afternoon and went to the office to ask for a new one. I expressed that my mom is crippled and it could cause her to fall. Genice refused to give me another cart. I realize that flatbeds are a courtesy, but any equipment provided should be safe and there were plenty of other flatbeds out there. I have video of the conversation and the rude refusal I received. I finally called the district manager, Sam, and left a message, because they will not offer us any of the senior accomodations there and are very disrespectful. Sam called me back and did not address the issues, including zero climate control, even though we are paying for it, which causes us to have to haul our stuff into our unit at a stuffy, fuming temperature in 95 degree weather; Instead of addressing the issue, Sam told us to VACATE ALL our units at EVERY Public Storage location by August 31,2022. Yes all. Those that belong to my husband who has been in FL for years, my mother's, my entire family, anyone with me as a contact. Have you ever heard of a manager casually ending the tenancies of 8 units at once, punishing an entire family and costing his company a combined $2400 revenue a month? No company should allow such an abuse of power. Each of us will be suing. We rent medium to large units. Sam even visited one of my units in June, and had no complaints. This is direct retaliation for my complaint, ageism, negligence and breach of contract. I have never heard of a location not having a problem with your tenancy for years then suddenly ending all your contracts, because you finally found a voice to say something about the wrongs going on there. This is extortion. In addition to the gross display of negligence towards its elderly and handicapped clients: 1. Public Storage is terminating our month to month tenancies without 30 days notice, and 2. Terminating my tenancy without prior warning and without reason or proof is a violation of my civil rights and automatically indicative of retaliation, based upon the timing of my complaint on August 4th (I was told we would have to vacate by August 31st on August 8th. 3. During our phonecall Sam refused to state specifically what events ocurred to cause my tenancy to be discontinued. 4. Sam also refused to notify me which units he wanted me to vacate. This is ridiculous.
I am open to contact by an attorney or others who have had extremely negative experiences with Public.
If all the employees were like Andrew at this location I would never come back. Worst customer service -I'm 4'9 & I had ONE only ONE large item that I practically begged to get help just to transfer from my car to a cart cuz I had no help moving to another state. He barely looked at me while sitting on his butt on the comp and kept denying to help me cuz it would be a "liability" and he wasn't allowed so I asked for a manager we could ask cuz I literally could not do it myself and didn't know what to do … and he said idk where they are or if their busy still not even looking at me sitting on his $#*! on a computer with No another customers in sight I was the only one so he clearly wasn't actually busy just lazy and a $#*!. HOWEVER THANKFULLY HILDA & ALLAN WHO WORK THERE ARE LITERAL EARTH ANGELS. Like I said I had no help moving to another state so I was super stressed and overwhelmed but Allan is the one who set me up with the storage he was super polite and helpful and explained everything to me and without being annoyed w me or giving me an attitude. Super nice guy - he even overhead my convo at the end w Andrew and was offering to ask a manager for me. BUT sorry to say Hilda was my favorite please promote her or give her a raise! If she didn't walk out of the back just in time while I was also having that convo w Andrew NO ONE would have helped me. She was like okay let me see what I can do for you and asked the manager. You can tell she actually cares! To add to that earlier in the day when I had made my first trip she saw me struggling with my cart and offered to show me an easier way to pull out solely because she's clearly a genuine human being who deserves recognition for caring even when she didn't need to! She went above and beyond and I wouldn't have had a good experience without her help -the 5 stars are for her (& Allan)!
The Customer Service with Public Storage is laughable I booked a unit online (DO NOT EVER DO THIS) 10x15 unit outside with drive up access (their online description) we drove all day only to get to the unit the following day we were supposed to get a text when the unit was ready that never happened so I called and was told the unit was ready and the gate was broken so I could drive on in! Not secure at all and not in the best of areas! We drove to the unit only to find out the doorway to the unit was a small passage door for a 10x15 unit I still don't understand that? I went up front and spoke with the manager (she was very nice) explained they didn't have any other units that would work. She immediately closed the reservations my account was billed the next day I gave it 5 business days thinking the money would be credited but it was not! I then called the customer service only to be told they could not credit the money despite never even opening the door to the unit the representative said I had to contact John Ramsey the district manager as he was the only person that could issue a refund? MAKES NO SENSE! I was given a number by Public Storage which was wrong? (don't even know their managers phone number?) I had to go back to the local facility and spoke with the same property manager again was very helpful only to be told she couldn't issue any credit only John Ramsey District Manager had the authority to do so she gave me a good phone number to Mr. Ramsey only to get his voicemail I have left several messages for Mr. Ramsey and have yet to get a response. Moral of this story DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY!
I have lost 2 storage units with this company when I had lost my apartment.
