Here is the letter I received from "Marcia" at NextDoor:
Hi Randi,
I'm reaching out because a few of your neighbors have reported your posts on Agency post "County Officials urge residents to stay home during COVID-19 quarantine", for violating Nextdoor's Community Guidelines on disagreements and conflict.
The content below was brought to our attention:
- Christie B: No one wants to play Russian Roulette with lives. The government has proven, time and time again, that they are incapable of making good decisions. There is no evidence out there that shows how many lives would be saved. They are making a best guess and they have been wrong repeatedly. I'm talking a factor of 4 on a lot of measures (including the death toll). I'm not sure why you place trust in people (read: government). It boggles my mind, really. Equating most of the population to children is a pretty rich statement. The government is not and will never be our parents. Again, I'm perplexed that I even have to say this. There aren't too many people who would sign up to live under a nanny state. Those that would scare me more than those everyone perceives as "being rebellious".
- Larry L: No, you have no facts left to back your narrative. No worries, it was fun to see you for whom you really are.
- Teresa N: Everyone is honoring the limitations. Those of us who are protesting can't understand why we have to be limited for an indefinite period of time while prisoners are being released back into the community. Rights are still important, even in a time of pandemic. People need to stop painting us as if we're the bad guys here.
We encourage members to have conversations about the issues that matter to them in a way that is constructive, civil, and builds community. I realize this isn't always easy because we care passionately about the places we call home.
That said, Nextdoor is not a place to attack, berate, belittle, insult, harass, threaten, troll, or swear at your neighbors or their views even if you strongly disagree with them. This includes communication within a Group or via private message.
Please remember that each member is responsible for making sure their own content follows the Guidelines. If you see members of your community violating the Guidelines, please report any inappropriate messages, report their account, or contact your Leads for support.
Please note that we at Nextdoor, have removed the comments and not the Agency.
As a result, your account will remain disabled until at least 4-17. At that time, you can log into your account and access your Nextdoor neighborhood after checking a box stating that you agree to following the Guidelines. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Best,
Marcia
