Horrible People (real review read this you won't believe how they are)
March 6, 2021

Hey guys, so be very very careful with Envato. Read this entire thing you will be shocked out how crazy these people are. Literally do not buy any theme until you are 100% sure. I made the mistake in purchasing the wrong theme Phlox Pro and Phox Pro. Simple mistake. Most companies would give you a refund. Envato is such lazy pieces of garbage they sent the dispute to the creator of the theme.

So the creator of the theme asked me what was the theme I intended to buy. I didn't respond right away so they marked as "no refund" bc I didn't answer on their timeline (I responded 4 hours later). So then I go to paypal for dispute and guess who comes messaging right away? ENVATO! Now all the sudden they care. But everyone knows all they care about is their paypal reputation. They want me to cancel the dispute so that they will "refund me credit". Lol. I said no just refund me and then i will buy the theme i wanted when i want if i want to because their service was so horrible.

So anyway, I won the paypal dispute (obviously). Guess what these guys say to me? They locked my account with all the themes I purchased. And said that I owe them money now and I won't be able to get back into the account without going back to paypal and give them back the money I won in the dispute? What type of people are they where they can't just see that someone purchased the wrong theme on accident. Why do they have to make it hell? These people are trash.

Envatos exact words: Thanks for touching base with us. My name is Andie from Envato Customer Success Team.

Upon checking, your account has been disabled due to a payment dispute.

As an anti-fraud measure, if you open a dispute or file a chargeback, your Envato account will be automatically disabled and you will not have access to it until it's resolved.

The payment has been reversed. In this case, you need to make a manual payment of $51 for the item Phox - Hosting WordPress & WHMCS Theme. You can send it to XXXX
If you need further assistance in paying the amount, you may contact PayPal support for additional help.

Bad Company, Bad Customer Service When It Comes to Refunds.
July 11, 2020

This company is not professional, they do not follow what is stated in the law and when it comes to refunding you they ignore your messages. I bought a theme it was very buggy and did not work correctly. The author agreed to issue the refund but Envato would not issue the refund. I sent numerous messages requesting the refund but they just ignored my messages and kept sending me messages asking if I was satisfied or not which I replied to. With no response from them I then opened a claim with paypal which they did not respond to so I got my refund. After I got my refund I messaged the company and told them that I wanted access to the other products they removed from my account which I had paid for. "Iris P messaged me saying with this message - "Your account is disabled because of a PayPal dispute that you've recently raised. Please note that once you've raised a dispute your Envato Market account will automatically be disabled as a security measure.

Upon checking, I also notice that the author has approved your refund request. Hence, we provided Envato Credits on your account. We never received a request that you wanted it instead to be processed back to the original source of payment, which we would gladly assist you with.

I hope that you'd be able to inform us beforehand if you wanted the refund to be processed back to your account so that we can avoid this kind of situation."

I had sent numerous messages requesting the funds to be refunded to my account which they completely ignored to knowledge.

When dealing with this company you should create multiple accounts with one purchase on it so if you need to dispute a purchase you will not loose the other products you purchased because they suspend your account and deny you access to the other products you have purchased from which they can not do as you have paid them for it. If you have multiple products under one account then you should put a chargeback on all the other products you have purchased and they have removed or dined you access to which means they have taken payment for something they have not provided you. As you no longer have access to the products you have purchased you can initiate chargback's to claim those funds back. Overall experience dealing with this company was -10 stars luckily I got my money back. I have written to them requesting access to my products and if they ignore my request then I always know I can address the matter with the bank and get my money back.

Tip for consumers:

Purchased template, WordPress upload failed, Claimed not WordPress theme, refused refund request, lo
April 22, 2019

I made a purchase on the 19th, unfortunately before reading all these reviews. I had researched for a WordPress theme for hours, finally making the decision to make a purchase after reading many articles, and coming across the same "theme" mentioned (SociFly).

Naturally, I downloaded it right after purchasing, because let's face it that's the only way to upload it. However, WordPress kept saying it was a failed upload due to missing style. Css stylesheet.

I contacted support, who responded that "it sounds like your mistake, it is only a template and is impossible to use on WordPress".

I explained I had been researching for hours and it was my understanding it worked with WordPress, otherwise I had no use for it. At this point I asked for "a refund or store credit" and asked if they could direct me to a similar theme that was compatiabl.

The response I got from Themelooks stated they did not have any other community / social network based themes and I would need to contact Evanto Market about a refund. So, I asked how to do that because I thought I had contacted Evanto Support...

They gave me a link, I send the request & the next morning I had a "denied refund" email and a message, not from Evanto, but once again Themelooks - the one's that said I had to issue the request via Evanto. Therefore, they already knew it was up to them and wasted more of my time.

After that email, I responded stating I disagreed with the decision - then disputed the charge through PayPal. Not only was I not able to use it, I later found out it was not all there as advertised, several people in the comments section (way down) stated it did not have a login page design and it claimed to be a fully ready template.

Immediatly upon filing this claim, I received an email from Evanto stating that they locked my account due to a PayPal claim being opened. Guess what? 3 days later, no response from Evanto on the open claim, account still locked, and that means I cannot get into my account to further respond to the open claim on Evanto... Additionally, if I am stuck with this useless download the 6 months of support on the purchase is impossible to use with a locked account.

Their English was very poor when responding, so I have to agree with several other bad reviews. I am starting to think the website may be registered in the U.S., but operated somewhere else and possibly selling pirated downloads. Too many people claiming incomplete themes to be professional.

Loaded with fake reviews, buggy plug ins, and poorly developed themes.
March 17, 2019

If you care at all about the quality of the work you do for your clients or the quality of your own website, you'll stay far away from this market place. Every theme and plugin comes with raving reviews. 4.5 stars or greater. It's impossible to tell the real deal from the frauds. My last 5 purchases there have been lemons. I'm done with this market place. I'm not buying anything from here ever again. Don't trust the reviews. I downloaded a theme with 5 starts and I've had nothing but trouble with it since day 1. It has so many bugs, poor grammar, and misspelled words that I couldn't even use it. Why did it have 5 stars? Because those reviews are fake and Envato removes the bad reviews. I'm done working with crap. Time to find a better market place. Here's a video of the latest plugin I bought from Envato. The thing doesn't even work right! https://drive.google.com/open?id=1MYkHqqXfT3NREliAjMplBTkLHeibqTTb

Worst support I've dealt with
September 19, 2018

This company is a crapshoot. They claim that they will give you a refund if an item is not as described. "Item is "not as described"
An item is "not as described" if it is materially different from the item description or preview so you should expect the author to "tell it like it is" when it comes to the features and functionality of items. If it turns out the item is "not as described" you will be entitled to a refund."

That's their policy but they do not enforce it when you wish to get a refund. Nope, the support agent Vhon said this to me: "I have checked the form on my end, however, it still appears that the status is "In Progress", even though he specified that he's not granting the refund, it only means that the author has not yet finalized the decision of your request.

Note: Envato can only step-in to review your plea once a dispute has been raised. Dispute only applies if the author does not respond after a 5 day period AEST or if they have declined your request for a refund."

This is illegal, because what this allows is for any seller on this site to keep a buyer in limbo from getting their money by replying back to the buyer on and on OR simply not declining the request. This is a scam, plain and simple. And if I had known this, I wouldn't have bought on the site the first place.

With that in mind, my story: I found a wordpress theme I really liked for my portfolio that claimed I could set up in minutes thanks to drag n drop. Envato add on a 2$ for the Paypal fee which is against Paypal's TOS big time. I thought the fee was only for credit cards which is the norm but it's not. When I tried to set up the theme with the demo content, it was fine, but when I tried to edit them to set up my portfolio, I found out that it was way too difficult but I found myself forced to use the plugins else it wouldn't look as pictured, thus the item not as described. I contacted the seller thinking that they would understand but no, they were rude, sassed me, basically mansplained the hours of theme making is, and said that since it was the plugin at fault, not their theme, it wouldn't be refunded. They kept my request as in progress and the support agent saw this when I tried to bring it up higher. They said they couldn't do anything about it.

So when I went to raise a dispute in Paypal after replying to the support agent that this system was bogus and very much illegal, plus taking my business elsewhere and promising to get my refund either way due to paying with Amex, I found myself locked out of my account. This is their pattern, they refuse to help you and instead let them and the seller take the money. So you can imagine how livid how I was when I found out I was locked out of my account all for standing up to their shady practices and policies. I escalated the report to a claim on Paypal to get my money back and while I can go straight to Amex still, they need to stop bullying people who are too busy to handle this $#*!. I told you I was going to make you hate me, Envato. The more I spread this, the more people will be aware thanks to social media.
