They are probably legit, but if you are ordering your Birth Certificate just do yourself a favor and order your death certificate along with it because you will probably be dead before you get it!

The company is not a scam (from my experience). Problem is: They're an intermediary and if your state doesn't fill the order promptly or accurately, VitalChek doesn't care. It got your money and they want nothing more to do with you. In my case, I ordered a Death Certificate that I know exists. VitalChek did promptly place the order. But the jurisdiction came back saying the Death Certificate didn't exist. I wanted to resubmit my request and simply was looking for any suggestions on how to make the request successful. Their attitude: We got your money, we forwarded your request, we want nothing more to do with you.

They are legitimate in that state governments do officially contract with them, however they are completely inept and should be shut down. This is based on experience with them in Maryland.

Legit, maybe. But ethical, I think NOT! If you change our mind after placing an order, kiss your money goodbye!

Shipping. $18.00?, VCN Handling $11.95?-no explanation for, "VCN". They are, at very least, deceptive, in my opinion.
